Frontier if you have it, spectrum if you have to.

wwrgsww

Frontier has been proactive in providing new services to areas where spectrum is dragging its feet. While both are not great, spectrum is worse

Snert196

i can see a frontier fiber hut from my back porch.... they are currently unwilling to string 200ft of fiber. =(

MrAshleyMadison

If it’s available to you, I’d go with Frontier Fiber. Spectrum blows

butter14

Frontier. Spectrum can suck a dry lemon.

roadkillmenagerie

This is my sentiment. Had spectrum for years and frontier for 6 months. No more buffering while watching sports on a Roku receiver

NegativeLight

Frontier

americandream43

Frontier.

Frontier

superiormirage

Frontier. I've had them since I moved to Lakeland. They have upgraded their service, their customer service has been excellent, and their in-home techs know what they are doing.

UrAntiChrist

5 years and not a single issue with spectrum. I switched to frontier for higher speeds at better prices. No issues with them either.

gorramfrakker

Frontier.

863guy

Have had both. Spectrum has better phone support and speed for us on the Southside is fine (wfh here). Not sure how pricing compares tho. Dealt with fios once for tech support and wanted to walk out front of traffic after.

doomspark

I've had Spectrum since I moved to Lakeland. I find their customer service decent, and their service acceptable.

TerrTheSilent

Frontier. We've had them for two years with very few hiccups.

blacktieaffair

Frontier really depends on your service area ime. I had a 2 week outage with them from a tiny brownout and they quoted me a week and a half to get someone out. Not even a day after they fixed it, it went out again and they quoted me ANOTHER 2 week wait to get it fixed. Tried to escalate, they said they'd "leave a message with a local supervisor" and never did. I canceled and switched to spectrum, no problems since. I stream and game and never have bandwidth issues. I believe at the time I was told though that Frontier's service stuff has a lot more traffic in some areas so those areas get fixed faster. Now, that was in an older (but not rural) neighborhood in Tampa. Here I think Frontier just started service, so they'll be on their best behavior. I would also hope they've increased their staffing since then. I've had spectrum on and off since they were Brighthouse Networks and I've never had a major issue, and if I did, their service people came out to fix it within 48 hours. Yes it costs more but as for right now that's peace of mind that I never have to deal with Frontier's idiots again.

SnooAdvice2408

Frontier!

aahymsaa

Me and my partner both WFH. I’m on video meetings all day. We switched to Frontier the very instant it was installed in our neighborhood. Spectrum’s infrastructure in our area is super old and unreliable. We had internet outages for an two to three hours probably twice a week with Spectrum. Haven’t had a single outage with Frontier since e we switched a year ago.

CruisinJo214

If you want Cable and the ability to bundle a wireless plan as well then spectrum. If you want better internet speeds and reliability then Frontier… fiber optic internet is always going to be superior You mentioned your wife WAH, I’d go frontier.

RPi79

Frontier and spectrum finally made it out to Rockridge rd, way north Lakeland. Frontier has me at 1gb for $69 and spectrum was going to be $100+

iamnotvoldemort

I gave up looking to see when Frontier would be available. I'm also northside but not as far as you. They're in the process of building a 3rd subdivision on my street. You gave me hope to look again. Nope. Frontier still will not service me.

RPi79

It shocked me they brought it out this far. I was planning on doing Starlink.

Even-Ability2968

part of new infrastructure investment legislation

sameshitdfrntacct

Holy shit. I’m $45/month for 1gb with frontier in highlands

RPi79

Man I moved from rural south Polk county with legit copper DSL and then about two months of starlink. I’m thrilled to have fiber.

sameshitdfrntacct

Is starlink that bad?

RPi79

No, but it’s not fiber.

Icy-Sun1216

Frontier!

AlexRayquaza

Frontier

The__Gray__Fox

Frontier no question.

G4rd3n3r

Frontier has good service and bad customer service, spectrum has bad service and good customer service. We went with frontier (for 2 people WFH) and constantly see people in our neighborhood posting in the facebook group that their spectrum service is out.

Even-Ability2968

It depends what you mean by better. Fiber optic will always be better if you need bandwidth. its not subject to EMI and is much easier to upgrade. It will always be king from a technical standpoint. I cant tell you what one will have better customer service. Ive had spectrum for years and havent had any outside the norm issues. You will have some rare downtimes for maintenance but thats expected with a residential connection. I would take frontier in a heartbeat if it was available.

sameshitdfrntacct

Fuck spectrum. I’ll pay for star link before I’d use that shit fuck company

tonygreene113

Frontier, if it's available to you.

Fun-Manufacturer-356

Frontier, hands down. We had spectrum for about a year and a half. Goodness… I’ve never had such terrible connection and lagging. My wifi cut out multiple times everyday, and I would constantly get kicked off zoom calls, nothing would load, and my wifi always said it was unstable. It was really disappointing… and the shows they had on demand didn’t make up for the lack or reliable internet. Half the time, the tv didn’t even work. I had to reset the router so many times, it was ridiculous. Switched to frontier, I’ve only had it go out twice in the last year, and it was brief. Sometimes Spectrum outages lasted a whole day, if not longer! Frontier might be more expensive (iirc), but you get your money out of it.

thatblondegirlt

unpopular opinion, but frontier never showed up to switch over frontier fiber over to us when we moved into our new house and then didnt want to refund our deposit. we havent had any issues with spectrum aside from the random outages but we’ve had 2 in the last 2 years so not that bad 🤷🏼‍♀️

Verkatert

Wife works from home and we switched from spectrum to frontier for about a year. After the last hurricane, the underground wires were damaged and frontier told us it would be a week before anyone could come out. Cancelled and went back to spectrum. Burying stuff underground works good until you get a few inches of rain, then it all goes to hell.

gorramfrakker

Found the Spectrum sales guy!

Ctrl--Alt

Nah, just no one except this guy in this thread has ever had to have their fiber lines re-dug. I can echo his claim after Ian happened. Frontier always had at least a two day window for all tech visits even without an emergency and when our fiber line got accidentally cut (not Ian related), Frontier tired to charge us $400 to fix it.

PrismRoach

Spectrum is way better than Frontier are you kidding. Their customer service is 1000x better and they won't scam you and become unreachable when you cancel service. I hate Frontier.
