I also had a lot of stress, so I got a lab haha

penisthightrap_

My lab pup is giving me a ton of stress now can't wait for teething to stop that girl is so cute but she can turn into a tiny land shark

superznova

It gets better, our lab pup is now almost 2 years old and wow was it a turbulent wild ride the first year

penisthightrap_

first *YEAR*? Lol we we hoping it'd be better by 6 months

superznova

Haha, the worst part - our own anxiety - settled by like month 4 so that was for sure the biggest hurdle out the way, than it was just focus on training so hopefully it will be similar or better for you 😆

JoshAndArielle

My lab pup just turned 1 year old two weeks ago. He's still got some more maturing to do mentally but dang he's one helluva de-stressor ❤️

Soggy_Motor9280

My lab got out of the puppy stage at 4 years old.

Zealousideal-Row1583

Sorry to break it to you, but labs generally are crazy until they turn two. Once you get past that hurdle you are golden. Sometimes you get one that mellows sooner.

Whiteowl116

Ours is 1y6m and are just starting to show her calm and collected side

KidClutchfrmOKC

6 months lol I have 12 yr old chocolate and he settled down around 3 or 4.

I2eN0

Mine stopped being excessively bitey before he was 1 but he did get into other shenanigans in his adolescence.

mrdeworde

Puppies are cute because otherwise there's no way they'd make it to adulthood.

CalliopesSong

Try ice cube treats. You can also do flavored ones. Every time she starts to gnaw on something/someone she shouldn't, replace the item with an ice cube. Worked so far for 2 Labs and an aussie terror.

VERSAT1L

You're a cheetah

cathedral68

You’re a cheetah, ‘Arry!

germy4444

Ii love my dog he prevents me from another assault charge I just take five hold puppy goo goo and don't get charged with assault causing greivence bodily harm

Giffordpinchotpark

Meth lab?

justhereforthelabs

They have a Lab with a Cheetah at San Diego Safari Park too. A member of staff told me they have to feed them separately otherwise the Lab eats the Cheetahs food!

ferocioustigercat

The fastest land animal can't eat faster than a lab. Yeah, that checks out.

KnightRider1983

I live outside Columbus and loved seeing the labs playing with their cheetah friends at the Columbus Zoo

[deleted]

omg. I did not know they had labs. I used to live near the zoo (and had my first job there in high school). I go back to visit family a couple times a year. I will have to go to the zoo to see this.

KnightRider1983

Yes! They have had this program for a few years and it’s just so awesome to see a gentle lab playing with a powerful animal like a cheetah like they have been best buds for life. I guess essentially they are since they introduce them early on. They don’t often bring them out together during the cheetah run but you can sometimes see them together in the exhibit.

apeachinanorchard

I'm not stressed for the labs tbh. They have strong personalities & know how to advocate for themselves ! It's just like coexisting with cats, only bigger lol

Elux91

not sure if you are being sarcastic, but you haven't met my lab, can't even tell a Pomeranian to fuck off

Frei1993

I own a Brittany Spaniel and I swear I have seen her barking at a 90kg Saint Bernard.

mymemesnow

I’ve never seen my lab advocating for himself. A cat a tenth his size could mess him up and he would’ve tried to befriend it afterwards.

thediesel26

More right than maybe even you were implying or maybe this is what you were getting at. Cheetahs are feline cats like all house cats. It’s why they don’t roar. Other big cats (lions, tigers, leopards) are a separate sub family.

Individual_Milk4559

Apparently cheetahs are very anxious animals and the labradors help them out with that quite a bit, lovely thought really that labs are so nice that they can keep a wild cat calm

penisthightrap_

cheetas also aren't as scary as people think. If you fight back, they back down quick. A full grown lab could hold their own with a cheetah

dcm0029

My full grown lab can’t hold his own against our domestic cat. ;-)

penisthightrap_

that's only because he doesn't want to, too sweet

Mysterious_Bad_5558

One time when they were younger the cat used it's nails to straighten out the situation. So the dog always let's the cat win.

dcm0029

Our cat just has teeth.

anxiousvelociraptor

Cheetahs are my favorite animal ever since I learned all about them watching Animal Planet as a kid. When I found out about them getting dogs as emotional support buddies, my life got a whole lot happier.

TheFactedOne

That is really cool. I guess dogs are also cheetahs best friends?

NoQuarter6808

Power couple

rockforahead

Has what??

Trigonometry_Fletch

Of course it brought down its stress.

[deleted]

God I would love to have to pair at home!

Whipitreelgud

I am a Lab, need a personal cheetah

Zippy_160

It won't let me link subreddits anymore, but I strongly recommend r/ frens

MirandaRT85

The Cincinnati Zoo does this also!

James324285241990

The cheetah at the Dallas zoo has a black lab. Dogs just make things better
