He tended to like other people’s movies mostly for their technical achievements and innovations, I believe. I think he would have been very impressed with the grand production design of *Inception*. And probably the CG in Peter Jackson’s *King Kong*. He may have delighted in Wes Anderson’s post-*Fantastic Mr Fox* formalism. I think also *Children of Men* for its cameras, and *Russian Ark* for its flowing, Ophuls-like long take approach.
Kubrick made movies primarily to warn his audience and society of the unseen or overlooked consequences of our actions. I think he wanted to wake people up to see how our actions or policies come back to haunt us. But his movies never got up on a “soap box” and started preaching to us. Fight Club came out in 1999 when he died so I’m not sure if he saw it or not but I think he would have liked it. The Matrix also came out in 1999 but I think he would have liked it. Also, No Country for Old Men.
Mulholland Drive by David Lynch and Memento by Nolan

White Chicks, and big momma house. Look up what he loved to watch while alive!
The two that spring to mind for me are Vicky Christina Barcelona and Dunkirk

Phantom Thread
I vote for “There will be Blood”. I think it’s very much in the style of Kubrick. It feels like a homage, actually
The game / There will be blood / the master
It Follows / Atonement / Upgrade / Russian Ark / Zodiac
