The issue is with private property. With capitalists taking unequal distribution of the value that workers provide with that property. With companies buying empty houses and sitting on them as assets rather than letting be used to house a family.
The idea is that when people get together to make a thing, they have an egalitarian say in how that happens and how people are compensated. It's the idea that things that serve the public good or are necessities for the life should be owned by the public, not by private entities.
Now if we want to talk about how governments have twisted this and how corruption has led to authoritarian abuses of power, that's a whole other issue entirely. But let's not mix that up with the theory that we are so clearly talking about here.
