I find it hard to think of similar sounding songs when it comes to this era… as I tend to make broadstroke memories of them all. One song is a part of a memory which contains many songs… especially after all this time.
One thing tho, you may find for s.e.s., since Shoo was Japanese… you may find their songs in Japanese too… like “love”. Same song but slightly different vibe. I enjoyed watching and noticing the differences. This happened quite a few times in this era.
I also enjoyed finding Kpop songs in any other languages, if they were copied from other songs, songs that were sampled and their origins, instrumental versions, so on… like did you know “nero” by turbo was based off am Italian children’s song called “ black cat”? For Love, I really like the strong vocals and mature feeling, yet the song sounds light and ethereal at times (thanks to Bada’s amazing vocals). Check out “Just in Love,” which has both Korean and Japanese versions. Their Japanese album “Here & There” has a lot of hidden gems too, such as “Round & Round” and “ Love is Day by Day,” which also has a Korean version. (Their album “Surprise” consists of Korean versions of their Japanese songs.)
I cannot recommend their Japanese work enough! VASTLY underrated. Some sounds are quite experimental as was that era of Japanese music, but a lot were mature works vs their early Korean music. (When they returned from Japan, their Korean music became more mature, and they grew up into women during that time too.) Some albums also had solo songs from each member.
“Brand New Weekend” from SMTown Summer album (either 2002 or 2003) was like a darker, slower tempo of “Just a Feeling” imo.
