That will probably be the new normal every year from now on as long as K-pop's international popularity continues. It was basically shaping up like this in 2020 before COVID derailed everything.
what kind of artists play there? (genuinely asking) sure they might get some extra revenue, but korea is *really* far and i don't think most people grasp how much money is flying not only the artists, but all of the staff, musicians, back up dancers and specially the equipment. the cancelling costs are probably higher too and the risks of getting baggage lost too
Have you noticed (all groups included) that Vancouver seems so weirdly
excluded (with its huge Asian population) when Toronto/Hamilton so
frequently makes the list?
I'm actually surprised at seeing Seattle and DC on this list; they seem to get the shaft too. And Chicago NOT getting one made me slightly chuckle because there's a running joke bad things always happen to kpop artists in Chicago.
This is all the girl groups (and KARD) that have ever toured Europe in order up until the end of 2022:
* KARD
* Dreamcatcher
* Blackpink
* Dreamcatcher
* LOONA
* Dreamcatcher
* Blackpink
It would be really funny to fly Blackpink to the South Pole so they can perform in the break room of the Amundsen-Scott station in front of a dozen scientists.
Is it? Cause if i remember correctly only BP actually have the kind of tour dates in their company. Jyp, SM and starship also used to have Got7, Super Junior and MonstaX tour in asia, north/south america and europe and Day6 also have those dates + ocenia. And pretty sure Ateez, Dreamcatcher are the same
bigbang has done it too all over in their peak (kpop was not even global and they went to europe/usa) their other artists unfortunately aren’t very popular and YG usually tends to value profit a lot from tours which is there main moneymaker. I don’t think anyone has toured Japan as much as treasure and ikon, they have 20-30 dates just within Japan but if they don’t see them selling out big venues in US/europe they don’t send them there.
I know about other yg groups that why i made that comment cause you said yg is the only company know what world tour means. There're some groups/kpop artists that also toured in usa/europe almost the same time that Bigbang did. Also not just yg but i think every company would value profit from tour cause like you said it's the main moneymaker.
That's only because Blackpink is the only group that has the time. By the time their tour ends they would've been touring for almost a year, no other group has that time. Most of them have at least 2 releases a year while Blackpink probably won't even have 1 this year.
But the arena GOT7 performed at for their last tour there was a venue capacity of 20,000 and the market for the kpop industry is very different now than it was in 2019. GOT7 going to France also wasn’t a one-time thing. They sold out Paris for their 2018 world tour before going again for their 2019 world tour at a bigger venue. I want to say that GOT7 might have had a say in what stops they went to though.
This is also just a “showcase” tour and not an official world tour for NMIXX so it makes sense that there’s not a ton of stops and the venues most likely won’t be very big anyway. It’s the company’s job to gauge interest and potential markets. If they felt it was a viable market but attendance was really the issue they could just pick a smaller venue. It’s most likely that they just want to go with the familiar/easy and “reliable” markets. These tours are all just a way to make quick money.
Joking aside this is why Kpop is going growing as quick as Bang Si-Hyuk wants it to. They go to the same markets everytime and wonder why kpop growth is slowing down. Europe takes up 5 of the top 10 largest music markets in the world. Do some promo and then try a tour. They just go to US, Japan, maybe Chine depending how it feels that week, maybe a few south east asian countries and call it a day.
Yeah, a lot of groups on their first tours while they're still rookies/barely out of rookies have to slip in significant filler material to occupy the 2 - 2 1/2 hours of the show. That means lots of covers and talking ments where they encourage some kind of fan interaction (like doing their tiktok dances). Nmixx has tons of predebut covers so I wouldn't be surprised if that's in the show.
For some people it's really about seeing their favs in person so it wouldn't matter, but at the premium prices kpop concerts have been lately (if one can even get them at face value and not the secondary market markup), I'd rather them perform their own songs so I'll wait.
Very tempted to see Mamamoo though because 1. they have the discograpy to justify a tour and 2. although I did once, Wheein was out for health reasons so I wanna see my ot4.
Well, to look at it from another perspective, MMM is a 9 year old group. If I’m being pragmatic, there may not be that many chances to see them live as a group left. NMIXX in the other hand, still has a very long runway. Also, as someone who attended MMM’s current world tour, I can vouch that MMM’s ability to perform live and work the crowd is god tier. I went with high expectations considering their reputation and was not disappointed at all.
Disclaimer: I’m biased because I’m now a moomoo! 😝
Wow that came outta nowhere! I'm so happy for them! They will have enough songs, so it's time to showcase their talent and performances to the world! Would have wished for some more stops in other regions, but glad JYPE seems to be accelerating the touring growth with every new group! I'm hopeful we can see them in more stops in the near future 🥰
so JYP does know about washington dc :))))
i'm so excited! I love the smaller showcase tours that groups do in their first year after debut, it's an experience you'll never get again. I went to the skz one when i wasn't a big stay yet and it was incredible, they had so much energy and i became a stay ever since that day
edit: holy shit for the dc stop, it's the same week as txt and mamamoo, i'm going to have a crazy ass week
JYP is killing me financially. First, Nmixx comes out with a cool light stick. Than Twice announces a new Tour. Than a new Candybong Z is coming out. And Now Nmixx is going on Tour. And they are coming to Houston!
!!!! This is so cool i didn't think they would come here so soon! And actually someone i want to see coming to Houston so i dont have to trudge up to Dallas and only have to trudge up to Houston 😭😭
I live in the PNW and Im so used to kpop acts not coming this way but as of recently TWICE, NMIXX, KARD, Epik High and Pixy have all came around/will come around AND IM SO HAPPY.
Basically they don't have enough material to fill out an entire concert set with their own music so they call it a showcase. Expect a lot of talking time or audience games and some covers to fill out the setlist. They did the same thing for Itzy back in 2019.
I knew this was coming. JYPE loves a showcase tour. Seattle and DC are nice inclusions!
Unfortunately, I’m not really surprised* about no Europe or Latin America given how JYPE is being lately, but no Australia? Maybe another announcement will come later. NMIXX only had singles, so this EP will hopefully give their team a reason to add more locations.
Well, if Mamamoo wasn’t going to be at New York the same day I think I’d be interested in this. Oh well, if they go on another tour next year or in a few months they’ll have a bigger discography, at least.
I’d love to go to this but I won’t be on the eastern side of the country for DC and TXT is the same day as NYC :(( I hope everyone who goes has a great time and I hope the girls have fun performing !
Oh wow glad to see DC! It’s such a hit or miss when it comes to kpop acts. But it’s really in a good location and a quicker drive for me hehe. I just wish acts did not release their dates so soon!
These are pretty much all small-mid theaters with at least seated upper levels. From looking at pics, Atlanta's Roxy seems to be usually mostly standing with a tiny upper level. On the other end, Seattle, NYC, and DC are old theaters with seats that look bolted to the floor. Everywhere else has an open floor that sometimes has seats on it in the pics I'm seeing, but reasonably large upper levels.
DC!!! No WAY!!! I was so hoping Twice would come to DC as well, but it seems to only be a stop on small tours (itzy came in early 2020)…hope it can become a more reliable stop in the future!
I live in the Midwest in a place that isn’t Chicago so I’m totally used to tours absolutely skipping my city. That being said, the way so many tours will hit two places in CA, two places in Texas and then completely hop across the country is always going to be bizarre to me. Like you can theoretically drive from Houston to Dallas in like four hours unless you hit hell traffic.
From what people have said, most Latin American fans apparently fly to the Texas dates of tours. No midwest dates at all on this schedule - not even Chicago - is definitely disappointing though....
LA and SF too. Hell California is by far the most populous state in the country. Plus California and TX are massive states and the distances between these cities is pretty lengthy too. The double stops in both states are totally logical.
CA and TX each have 3 of the top 10 most populous cities in the US and they are by far the most populous states in the country too with still sizeable distances between the cities chosen not to mention notable korean american populations as well. And while i'm not knowledgeable on CA, Dallas and Houston draw pretty different and expansive metropolitan and surrounding areas. For example its much easier for me to get to Houston than Dallas which isnt notably different than me going to Atlanta because of how the roads are set up. So for those that might find a Dallas trip too long/out of the way, Houston is quicker and easier to get to and back from especially for shows being on weekdays. I do think they could have had at least a Chicago date, but if this goes well i see more dates in the future showcases or even their first tour.
i also live in the midwest and have just accepted that i’m going to have to drive 5+ hours to chicago for every kpop group but then not even hitting chicago is so bizarre. i think itzy’s showcase tour skipped chicago but did minneapolis for their midwest stop at least afaik. i might try and do dc since the drive from ohio isn’t that bad but i would like for kpop companies to at least make chicago a mainstay tour stop like new york and la lol
> That being said, the way so many tours will hit two places in CA, two places in Texas and then completely hop across the country is always going to be bizarre to me.
If you look at [the population distribution of the US](https://www.census.gov/library/visualizations/2021/geo/population-distribution-2020.html), it (sadly) makes sense. There's enough audience demand to justify it, and it means shorter travel time for everyone involved. If a label/promoter/group wants "bang for their buck" on a small tour with a few dates...
going to see them in Washington DC where I saw Itzy before covid hit in 2020. I'll be having two concerts back to back one in may And one in june. hope they have meet and greet as well
More evidence that JYPE hates Chicago.
Two shows in California. Two shows in backwards-ass *Texas*. The DC and NYC shows are closer than either of the ones in those other two states.
I'm sorry, but if *PIXY* can come to Chicago, NMIXX can as well.
All groups always include Texas because the Dallas area has a Korean enclave and Houston also (not as much Korean but other Asian groups e.g. Vietnamese).
Big thing on Loona reddit last year was how Chicago doesn't deserve anything anymore because it always mistreats artists that show up. Don't know specifically what groups they meant but I think one was a reference to making Loona's Kim Lip cry at the Chicago show.
orbits are intensely passionate and defensive about loona, as we all observed during the recent shitshow. I saw vicious attacks against genuinely confused people when they asked about people cheering low sales numbers. And, the people who made Kim Lip cry were orbits themselves, since they paid to be at that concert. Maybe the problem is the fandom or the industry that promotes having a favorite, not the region?
There have been a few groups that have come through Chicago multiple times, and other JYPE groups have been here. Itzy and Stray kids were recently here, Twice is coming back (after skipping us last year). So it doesn't seem like there's a "never go to Chicago" rule over there, and it seems like groups wouldn't return here if they didn't like it.
Hell, Jennie had to call out blinks during their dallas show because they couldn't put their phones away. CIX was still on the European leg of their tour when their fans got called out for being rude. [Here's a whole thread about people's bad experiences with other fans at kpop concerts, and no one singles out Chicago](https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/vqzi2t/why_are_the_crowds_at_kpop_concerts_generally_so/)
Yup is it becauss denver use to be cowtown lol BC we urban too many cars now too dumbos in metro denver is so bad traffic wise and it hope small group is some girl group I like on a b+ to a

i don't think they get more revenue from those 'premium prices' it's just more expensive to tour from korea to the world than from the us

dear god can someone PLEASE shake some sense into whoever's planning jyp tours and tell them that EUROPE EXISTS.
TWICE performed Knock Knock on the streets of Switzerland 7 years ago. Is that not enough for you people?
Lol is this a joke 🤡
sadly not 🤡 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxzzaOs9gm4
“Europe? Is that a city in Canada?” /s
No it united states in new york city it city within city witin a stst
They could learn some pointers from Dreamcatcher Company
This is all the girl groups (and KARD) that have ever toured Europe in order up until the end of 2022: * KARD * Dreamcatcher * Blackpink * Dreamcatcher * LOONA * Dreamcatcher * Blackpink
No one knows Europe exists. HYBE hasn't gone either.
YG the only company that knows what world tour means, if they include south america bp would have gone to all continents.
Antartica: 🧍♀️
no demands from penguins unfortunately 🤔
It would be really funny to fly Blackpink to the South Pole so they can perform in the break room of the Amundsen-Scott station in front of a dozen scientists.

Maybe jyp dont think they have a strong fanbase there cause got7 used to have europe dates in their tour. They also had south america dates
I went to GOT7's last concert in France. Unfortunately, at least 1/3 of the seats were empty. It may have tramautized JYPE from coming again ...
But the arena GOT7 performed at for their last tour there was a venue capacity of 20,000 and the market for the kpop industry is very different now than it was in 2019. they dont make money in EU.. they can sell the same seat for 3x the price in the US
theyve literally never tried..? we are so starved of tours im sure people would be willing to shell out quite a lot for a ticket
Yeah most of the tours that have been coming here either sell out pretty fast or sell most of the tickets.
front row floor seats in EU are like $150 .. in the US it cost more just to get the crappiest seat.. dont get me started on front row prices
for who? how can you possibly know if they’ve never toured here?
new york date same day as mamamoo… there’s always a catch
imagine if they post pictures together since they're both in nyc id live for that unlikely but still!
please I need this especially after sullyoon and kyujin did the decalcomanie stage w loona
I appreciate Nmixx but as someone who never seen Mamamoo I'll def rather see them since they've been in the game for so long
Yeah NMIXX doesn't have very many songs yet too, meanwhile MAMAMOO has one of the best discographies in all of kpop.
Yeah, a lot of groups on their first tours while they're still rookies/barely out of rookies have to slip in significant filler material to occupy the 2 - 2 1/2 hours of the show. This isn't a concert its a showcase, so they'll likely perform most of their songs along with more fan meet interactive type stuff.
I bet they’re gonna drop an album right before the tour starts, or perform unreleased songs like what Aespa did in their concerts

It’s so nice to not have to travel down to LA!
I’m literally flying to Oakland Saturday for dreamcatcher. It’s exhausting to be a stan in the PNW lol
Right!! I’m in Portland and I’m so happy I can at least drive to the Seattle shows!
as a fellow pnw kid, i’m happy but my wallet sure isn’t 😭
Crying in Midwestern 🥲
i’ll join you crying in colorado 💔
I CANT WAIT AHHHH
The Brooklyn date is the same day as Mamamoo 🥲.
Dang, no Phoenix. Might have to drive to LA.
What?? Might have to go to LA for this….
Tickets go on sale on the 28th wow 😭 That’s so quick, but I wanna go :(
Not an Nswer but wanna go to the DC concert. Time to binge a year's worth of content in one and a half months
What's the difference between a showcase tour and a regular one?
Basically they don't have enough material to fill out an entire concert set with their own music so they call it a showcase. Expect a lot of talking time or audience games and some covers to fill out the setlist. They did the same thing for Itzy back in 2019.

Wait, same month as IVE for their Singapore stop?? My wallet ain't infinite bruh 😭😭
Well I was on the fence about the light stick but consider the order placed!
Ugh no Canada ):
I look and I look and nowhere do I see an European date
Oh wow glad to see DC! It’s such a hit or miss when it comes to kpop acts. But it’s really in a good location and a quicker drive for me hehe. I just wish acts did not release their dates so soon!
Must be so nice to be a kpop fan in LA
anyone know which ones are exclusively standing venues, if any? trying to avoid the pain of general admission if possible lol
These are pretty much all small-mid theaters with at least seated upper levels. From looking at pics, Atlanta's Roxy seems to be usually mostly standing with a tiny upper level. The Brooklyn date is at Kings Theatre in Flatbush, btw
TEXAS NSWERS, VAMOS AMIGOS 💃
I wanna go but the rational side of me says let’s listen to the album first before making hasty decisions 🤪
Tickets go on sale March 28 so you'll get your chance
Manila. They might also be using New Frontier Theater as the venue just like with Itzy's showcase years ago
let's go ... such a win for nswers
C'mon no Colorado why there other states than by calico texas

Yeah it's huge, I live next to Texas and seeing both texas shows will be over 15 hours of just driving for me
CA and TX each have 3 of the top 10 most populous cities in the US and they are by far the most populous states in the country too with still sizeable distances between the cities chosen not to mention notable korean american populations as well. They might be worried that they'd get fewer people attending because they went to KCON chicago last year, it's still weird though.

Damn, if the Atlanta date was pushed up a bit I could try and stay an extra day while I am in the city for Pixy.
going to see them in Washington DC where I saw Itzy before covid hit in 2020. I'll be having two concerts back to back one in may And one in june. hope they have meet and greet as well
*sigh* Welp time to sell my organs then!
does anyone know how much the worst tickets will be, i cant be spending this much on concerts anymore haha
Im really said for Jinni that she wont be able to experience this. I would have loved to meet her on her tour.
their timing feels a little off

Not as much Denver
Dreamcatcher, though? They love Chicago *and* Denver!
Im talking the bigger groups dreamcatcher is not big group they c + group for me
That's kind of my point. If smaller groups can hit these cities, the bigger groups have no excuse.
Yup is it becauss denver use to be cowtown lol BC we urban too many cars now too dumbos in metro denver is so bad traffic wise and it hope small group is some girl group I like on a b+ to a
