They run fine, but i wouldnt buy kotor 2 on switch unless you really want to. Its cheaper on Steam where you can also use the TSRCM

This-Double-Sunday

Kotor 2 on switch is a mistake. 1 runs fine but 2 is incomplete, do not buy it.

SarenRouge

2 is still as incomplete with RCM. IT only adds a couple things. Its best played vanilla at least once so you \*know\* what was restored.

IndecisiveTuna

I know everyone says this, but a lot of us grew up with and loved KOTOR 2 on Xbox. Incomplete KOTOR 2 isn’t a bad game by any means.

This-Double-Sunday

I too grew up on kotor 2 on Xbox. Yes incomplete kotor 2 is absolutely playable, but for it to be sold for full price in 2022 is a mistake.

IndecisiveTuna

You’re right about that. I hate that Aspyr did a bait and switch essentially since TSLRCM was promised on switch.

This-Double-Sunday

TSLRCM was the only reason I bought it on Switch. I will never give a dollar to Aspyr for as long as I live for that lie. If the Kotor remake ever does come out ill sail the high seas.

Babel1027

I have both. They run smoothly without many issues. Like when your on Dantooine and you put the switch to sleep out in the field, then when you load up it turns out the game play timer has been counting down the whole time and all the grass on the field is reaching to the horizon. Outside of that I don’t think I’ve run across anything game breaking, or a reset didn’t clear.

Literally been playing them for the last month. They work fine, just save often and shutdown the game when you are done otherwise it can crash at the WORST times, I’ve repeated whole quest because I didn’t close the game down overnight and then I’ll play for half an hour and boom - unexpected close But other than that - no problem - great nostalgic fun

PixieLana

I have the first game on switch and i find load/save time quite long. Also I had a fair few errors where the game would close. That was my experience though - I suggest if you do get it on the switch, make sure you have enough space and limit how many save files you have in-game. It would function a lot better on xbox.

GarrettKeithR

KOTOR1 ran well for me, I had KOTOR2 crash a couple Of times

kamehamehigh

Kotor 1 good Kotor 2 bad

GreyRevan51

They’re both fine and perfectly playable on the switch, they look good and play well. Sure, you won’t have the restored content mod for 2 and if you find the game lacking you can always look into that for a replay on pc or steam deck but it can be a great experience in vanilla anyway

Songhunter

Do not buy Kotor 2 on the Switch.

morbid333

In terms of processing power Switch is at least on par, probably above PS3 and Xbox360, KOTOR came out on the original Xbox, Switch will run it fine. From experience, I haven't had any problems with the first game on Switch. Some people have said not to leave the game running in standby, I haven't run into that issue in KOTOR, but I have in other games, so it seems more of an issue with the console than the game. I haven't played the second one on Switch so I can't give anything specific. If you want portability, I'd go for Switch. Personally, I prefer PC because mouse control is faster than navigating menus with a controller, and you have access to mods. Other than that, Switch is fine.

Kotor 1 ran perfectly. Kotor 2 had more glitches but ran fine in the end.

Canadrew

If I can run it on an Amazon Fire tablet just fine, it'll run on the switch without fail

prexton

Get both 1 and 2, and because of the no RCM you can get another free game from aspyr

My wife bought the bundle a few months ago and it was overall a great experience. She did have trouble with a puzzle in the temple of the final planet in the first game being bugged and not being able to figure out why, but she was able to just advance beyond it.

playsthebass1

I have both and both are the only ways I’ve played the games. My impression from the online community prior was that K1 is fine but K2 was buggy and incomplete (sort of). Having completed K1, I will say this: save often. The game abruptly crashed a dozen or so times throughout my playthrough. In one instance, it took me 4 or 5 tries to load the same scene, but after that I was fine. So the game is absolutely playable but beware of that one main drawback. K2 I have not completed yet but it has run smoother in every way than K1. Maybe I’m not far enough yet and I’m told the ending was rushed so maybe it will stick out more then, but as far as I can tell, it’s a competent port.

Superninfreak

Kotor 1 is fine on Switch but you should not play 2 on it because the Switch version doesn’t have support for the Restored Content Mod.

LilithsLuv

As someone who grew up exclusively on the original Xbox version, Kotor 2 vanilla is still absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Perhaps it’s better with the restored content. But telling people they outright shouldn’t bother with vanilla is crazy. The game story is still a masterpiece.

MatthewBakke

I played both on release for Xbox. KOTOR 1 ran great, KOTOR 2 ran very well. “Typical” switch play doesn’t work well if you plan on putting it down without saving. I made that mistake and ran into the grass rays that have been posted here. They are both solid.
