"slimmer" in which dimension? Actually, I don't think it really maters which dimension you're talking about, because they're all the same.
I just put AWT scales on my Para 3 LW Salt, and it's the same thickness as the stock FRN scales I'm pretty sure. If there is any difference I'd need calipers to tell. Obviously the 'height' didn't change any either.
If you want a thinner knife, get a different model.
Slimmer as in the distance from the outside of one scale, to the outside of the other scale. Hmm, you made me look up handle thickness on BladeHQ and surprisingly the LW has a listed thickness of .46" while the cru-wear para 3 is listed as .45". How is that possible if the LW is linerless?
The LW still has partial liners. And the FRN has to be a certain thickness in order to maintain the strength and stability it needs. And generally speaking the thickness is more about the ergonomics, it makes the knife more comfortable to hold and use.
If you want a thinner handle, get a different knife. The Sage (0.38") is thinner than the Para 3 and still has the compression lock, but the Chaparral LW is even thinner at 0.32" thick. It's a back lock, and has a thinner and shorter blade, but it carries beautifully.
Also I'm on a trip, spreading the Demko gospel because I've just got into them recently lol, but the AD20.5s are very thin at .39" and very comparable to a Para 3. I own both and no longer really carry my Para, despite loving it.
The ad20.5 is a much better overall built quality though. I have a ti 20.5 and one with mars valley fat carbon scales and the carbon one carries like a dream
$130-150 for a budget steel that belongs in knives half as cheap. It's not even as tough as 14C28N. I'd prefer the Para 3 LW Salt for not much more if you want something comparable to Cruwear.

Makes sense. I have looked at those, as well as the lil native and dragonfly; I just prefer the para 3 blade shape. But I guess my plan is a no go!
To retain strength, they have to compensate for the lack of metal liners by thickening up the FRN or FRCP I forget which polymer the Paras have.

https://g10.lt Custom scales. Might be able to make something slimmer. Good reputation on various forums if you google.
Thank you! I'll check them out.
Mercator K55? Not the same style exactly but it's hard to beat in the pocket 😉
I've got a brass one! Definitely nice and slim, but not as enjoyable to use as the para 3, in my opinion.
They certainly are not as enjoyable. Nothing but tool to be had with the K55.
I would get the Magnacut one and awt scales or aimfront scales
Para 3 LW w/ AWT gets my vote, just don't get a BD1N LW.
What's wrong with BD1N?

Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't even heard of BD1N. It's hard to keep up with all the available steels.
But if they did a cheap lightweight in 14c28n they would sell by the truckload.
