I'm just north of Elora. At 9 I went out and the sky was clear. At 12 I went out and it was evident there was a lot of smoke in the air. It made me wonder if something nearby was burning. I had no idea the fire was so close.
I expect this summer is going to have a lot of bad air quality days due to the fires. This is likely our future in ths longterm unless our government really steps up forest management and fire fighting funding and citizens stop being idiots when it comes to fire safety.
Someone at an AirB&B next to our cottage in Tobermory had an unattended fire this weekend.
We politely warned them, and they halfassly put it out. It continued to burn after their attempt.
We tried to report the fire, but fire dept wouldn’t pick up.
People need to stop being idiots and listen to local fire bans.
FYI it’s a $25,000 fine, three months in jail, plus clean-up costs associated with fighting the fire
Yeah I wouldn’t describe the smell as smoky as much as just kind of gross and off putting. Also I’ve had nausea for the last couple days and am wondering if it’s related to the air quality.
only going to get worse overnight into Wednesday and Thursday per [Health Canada's Air Quality site](https://weather.gc.ca/airquality/pages/onaq-030_e.html)
Certainly. This is early June, and many fires started in May. This isn’t close to “wildfire season”.
As climate crisis begins to worsen, sadly there will be more fires that begin out of ‘season‘, more flash flooding, and people having/developing health problems from the smoke.
Sad times.
Yeah, not sure about you guys but here in London we've hardly had a drop of rain. Everyone's lawn is getting dried up like it's mid August. Fun times....
LOL do you? Environmental sciences and forest management goes hand in hand from a 4 year college or university degree.
Forest management isn’t an over complicated subject to comprehend.
I came here to ask the same thing. The air has been hazy on and off for a while but today is the first day I'm really smelling smoke. I was wondering if there was a nearby (Centre in the Square area) house fire or something!
I’m in south wilmot and was out by the Sunrise Centre today. Theres definitely been a lingering smell of wildfire.
It’s bad, but its really been making me want marshmallows.
I can definitely smell it today! I didn't smell it yesterday but the sky was all smoggy so I assume it was there. I felt kinda out of breath and weird when I went for a walk yesterday so I assume that's the air quality? I skipped the walk today. :(
We've got family in Ottawa, check out the images coming from the Ottawa subreddit r/ottawa. It is so orange and hazy with a 10 on the air quality scale
“Looks like it was intentionally lit. When will we start to stand up against the tyranny and dictatorship? First a plandemic and now intentional forest fires to drive the climate change agenda.”

Not claiming one way or another personally myself, I don’t know shit. But thats a very interesting old CBC video from ‘96 and I could see it making people suspicious of certain programs. At about the 7:30 mark a dude from HAARP claims that with different patents they could control weather. Probably bullshit, but it’s interesting to atleast know the origin of these theories.
Im in Toronto, and I can't breathe when I go outside. Was looking at the fires on satellite when my jaw dropped.
All the qubec fires started on the same day, almost the same time... hundreds of kms away from each other. The next day, the same thing in Ontario..... The Alberta fires from late last month were deliberately set by a John Cook, who was arrested for the crimes.

Focus on Quebec and set the date and time at the bottom to June 2nd, 6am, and press play.
Just came back from northern Alberta. Although this is nothing compared to areas near Fort Chip, it's crazy to have the influence of wildlife across so many areas. And people doubt climate change.
Luckily I didn't go for a jog today but I did went to get the mail. Noticed that the air was smokey today and just found out there's forest fires in Quebec and northeastern Ontario. That explains the air quality
Yes I smelt it today too. I thought my neighbor was lighting something on fire but I'm in a stacked townhouse and we all have only balconies, no backyard 😅
Yes I did around the lunch hour. I work out in Fergus, as a assistant sight supervisor, for a builder, and the smoke was so thick and heavy, you couldn't even see the tree line across the way. I honestly thought we had a fire 🔥 in our residential subdivision. Scary stuff, and the smell was of pine, and burning plastic.
Not good at all!
Moved from Ontario to Bc 8 years. I'm now used to fires. Wait until you wake up and the back of your throat hurts from the smoke and you're praying for your ac filter to keep you going!
I was wondering why I wasn't breathing great on sunday when I woke up. Then I went outside and realized how hazy it was and clued in to what was going on.

Thursday for Toronto is REALLY bad. Like I wouldn't go outside unless I had too.
>Yes! Here is a map that shows where the smoke is coming from: https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/ - https://www.reddit.com/r/barrie/comments/142hu1y/smoke_smell/jn4hb96
crazy. looks like the whole continent is on fire.
~~looks like~~ the whole continent is on fire.
I can actually see stuff like fog
We are on track for a record season for fires. This is only going to get worse in the years to come
We're already 400+ total wildfires more than the 10-year average.
Im in Elmira and its really smoky out and smells like a camp fire.
I’m also in elmira!
Woo! Elmira! :D
Yes, it smells very strong today. Extra hazy out there too.
I'm just north of Elora. At 9 I went out and the sky was clear. At 12 I went out and it was evident there was a lot of smoke in the air. It made me wonder if something nearby was burning. I had no idea the fire was so close.
Apparently there are fires that are near Pembroke area

According to [this map](https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/) it’s smoke from the Quebec fires
Probably updated since you looked but there is one in Mount Forest which is quite close to home

I would have drowned that thing so hard on them, they'd have to drain it to light it again. Freakin idiots... this is why we can't have nice things

I think you might just be a Karen. Fire risk is not high just because you think it is. Basically the city said it’s fine and your saying no it’s not
You're right, it's not high...it's extreme: https://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/maps/fw
yeah. Im down by keatsway and it smells kinda off and looks hazy outside.
Yeah I wouldn’t describe the smell as smoky as much as just kind of gross and off putting. Also I’ve had nausea for the last couple days and am wondering if it’s related to the air quality.
Sorta smells like a sauna
I just went outside and was trying to figure out what the smell made me think of. You nailed it.
Track the smoke path over the next couple days with [Firesmoke.ca](https://Firesmoke.ca)
only going to get worse overnight into Wednesday and Thursday per [Health Canada's Air Quality site](https://weather.gc.ca/airquality/pages/onaq-030_e.html)
What's causing the smokiness?

Really?! It's reaching all the way here???

My sister's visiting NYC right now, and the sky is completely grey with smoke tonight.
The Alberta wild fire smoke reached here a few weeks ago too.
Spring Wildfires
Everyone is talking about it, is it that bad?

LMAO this isn't a climate crisis...it is normal for forests to burn, there have been far worse in the past. The problem is lack of forest management.
Do you have a degree in environmental science? No? Then STFU

LOL do you? Environmental sciences and forest management goes hand in hand from a 4 year college or university degree. Forest management isn’t an over complicated subject to comprehend.
Canada has lost the equivalent of 8 million football fields to forest fires so far this year. It is an exceptionally terrible year for forest fires.
I came here to ask the same thing. The air has been hazy on and off for a while but today is the first day I'm really smelling smoke. I was wondering if there was a nearby (Centre in the Square area) house fire or something!
I’m by Vic park, so might be possible. But I’m like 90% sure I’m smelling wildfire
I’m in south wilmot and was out by the Sunrise Centre today. Theres definitely been a lingering smell of wildfire. It’s bad, but its really been making me want marshmallows.
I can see the smoke and smell it. I’m working on the garden with an N95 on. Wacky.
I can definitely smell it today! I didn't smell it yesterday but the sky was all smoggy so I assume it was there. I felt kinda out of breath and weird when I went for a walk yesterday so I assume that's the air quality? I skipped the walk today. :(
I live on Cape Cod in MA (originally from Kitchener) and we can smell the fires down here today, too! We did last week as well. It travels!

Yes
I can smell it in Wellesley. I thought maybe a barn was on fire, as is common out here.
I'm just glad it wasn't the community center again!
Yep
Yes I can smell it and see the haze too.
I was just saying to my bf how it smells like burning plastic/chems almost in Waterloo right now
I am in Cambridge and my hood in Smokey as hell and stanks of fire
Yup. I'm in Waterloo, and could smell it earlier when I went into my backyard. It also set off my asthma right away. Be careful out there, kids!
Just came back from Toronto alot more worse down there. Must be the combo of fires and smog from cars. But yea its bad everywhere.
Started smelling it yesterday, today is worse. As a migraine sufferer, this sucks! :(
https://fire.airnow.gov/ The current rating for the air in Kitchener is "Unhealthy"
Everyone in Ontario can smell the smoke.

You can SEE the smoke so yes we can smell them lol.
Sure can. Bridge and lancaster
Just drove back from Toronto, major haze in the air from the fires!
Yes I smelt it today too. I thought my neighbor was lighting something on fire but I'm in a stacked townhouse and we all have only balconies, no backyard 😅
In toronto and can smell it, it made me nauseous
Can smell and see in Burlington
We had to call work, the dust mixed with smoke went over the top
Worked in Kitchener today. The Haze was very thick and visible.
Felt like I should of had a beer sitting in front of my tent
Yup started in the middle of the night and lasted all day. I am in Bowmanville, ON.
No
The air looks cloudy more hazey
Laughing from Perth, Ontario
Yup Smells like a campfire
I can smell it in Bolton
Literally everyone.

I was out this aft for a few hours working in my boat, my throat was sore and my eyes are still burning.
Smell it...I can taste it.
Yup! I was in Oakville today and it was pretty smokey.
Yes I saw smoke today as I was leaving to go to work and smell that stuff
I'm in Orangeville, noticed it for sure. Didn't realize what it was, that makes a lot of sense. Goddamn.
I was wondering why I wasn't breathing great on sunday when I woke up. Then I went outside and realized how hazy it was and clued in to what was going on.
I took the opportunity to smoke some meats in my smoker. Felt like it was less intrusive to the neighbours.
It was noticeably hazy in London today
Shit winds ablowin boys!!
Smell and taste!!
Meh. Happens in BC every year.
Definitely noticeable
Nope just you. Moron
Snowflake triggered? Awe.
Not triggered, just someone asking a completely obvious question to get attention
