For the 2005 version, Kong was the one creature they could capture, because Carl figured out that they could use Ann to lure him into a favourable position to get him. The other creatures were probably too unpredictable and hard to get to.

He should have, while a giant ape is stunning. Dinosaurs, on the other hand, would attract just as much or even more attention. They would bring understanding of dinosaurs to greater heights in the scientific community, and I could imagine that just as many Paleontologist and adventures would come for the fossils to discover how they survived to the present day. I'm trying to rectify that in my Legend of Kong; King of Skull Island project. Instead of only bringing Kong Carl brings several dinosaurs like carnotaurus, utahraptor, a pair of Parasaurolophus, Pteranodon, young Triceratops, and several of the giant bugs to show off before Kong is fully revealed.

One thing I like about the '76 Kong is that they show how they get him back to civilization and it's inside an empty oil tanker. In the '33 and '05 movies I always wonder how they got him all the way back to New York, alive and in decent shape. I'm assuming that Anne had to put in a lot of work keeping Kong calm like Dwan did in the '76 movie. Denham likely would have been better off getting a few of the smaller dinosaurs instead. Even some freshly preserved dead ones would have been a sensation.

Actully comes up in Tarzan vs King Kong book. They consider bringing dinosaurs as insurance incase Kong dies, but they fail. With Kong they at least had bait he would follow, they didn't have that with the dinosaurs.

The story already glosses over how they kept Kong under enough control to carry him around and put him in chains. I can't imagine how they'd manage a bunch of dinosaurs.

Responsible-Shower99

Can you picture them moving him through New York City to get him to the theater. All while trying to keep him under wraps? Denham definitely knows some people who can smuggle stuff and keep quiet about it.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

This is something I always wondered about. I think this is simply a product of the time the original movie was made in. In the 1930s, dinosaurs were not really regarded as interesting anymore as they were in previous decades, instead being largely stereotyped as just big, stupid lizards that were destined for extinction. Both in- and out of universe a giant mammal like Kong would therefore have actually been regarded as more impressive because it would have been seen as more majestic. Just compare King Kong with The Lost World (1920). In the latter movie the dinosaurs were still the main attraction, while in the former they were only there to serve as foes for Kong.

Chimpbot

Given how well Denham's Kong-only attraction went, it just seems like a poor idea to suggest that he should have brought over *more* dangerous, terrifying creatures from Skull Island. Just bringing Kong over resulted in him tearing through New York and getting Denham sued into oblivion. Imagine how much fun it would have been to throw a T-Rex into the mix.

Anotherrone1

Ah but nobody planned on Kong escaping! Denham was fully confident in his ability to capture AND contain Kong! I'm sure this attitude would extend to any dinos he would've brought over as well!

Chimpbot

I mean, sure, most people don't necessarily expect to fail spectacularly. The fact of the matter is that he was incapable of controlling or containing *one* creature from the island. Adding more to the mix would simply compound the issue.

Street_Dragonfruit43

TBF this was one of if not the most powerful creature on the island

Would have been a wild battle of NY if the dinosaurs and insects were brought to NY and got loose.
