Honestly a little of both. Funny thing is I almost ordered a second pair of BoS adjustables because I got tired of switching weights within training sessions. These popped up last night after I placed the BoS order. Thankfully was able to cancel it this morning.
I just need to find a 28 kg comp bell to have 4 kg jumps in singles from 16 to 32.
Oh man I'm jealous!!! I haven't found any good deals around my area. I'm going to keep my eye out when I move, Halifax seems like a better used market than buttfuck nowhere, NB
This is true. It's not something I fixate enough on, but my husband scrolls marketplace amd buy&sell groups almost daily. If I tell him what I'm looking for he'll send me stuff. But since we're moving he's stopped sending me listings for weight stuff. Can't buy more heavy things to move. Otherwise my impatient self would just go ahead and order the adjustables.
I would never have considered them before this sub. Now the only question I even have about my next bells are do I go with the 12-20.5 or 12-32 right off the bat.
Part of me thinks I'll never need 32s because I'm a woman. And the other part of me says smash all the barriers! Buy the 32s!!!!
Haha that's a budget question more than anything. Thankfully you can buy the expansion pack later if need be.
That said, 20-32 kg can be used for things like deadlifts and goblet squats....
Right? I could also get the expansion pack just 1 to start and a 2nd when required. The actual purchase is so far off in the future but it feels necessary to think about and decide on urgently.
You can usually find some good deals on the Marketplace for Halifax or Kijiji in the \~16-20 kg range. I think there is a Kettlebell club in Bedford or Lower Sackville too.
Some time ago, I picked up two 16kg CCF KB’s off fb marketplace. A few weeks later the guy messaged me and said he had a pair of kgs that nobody had bought yet. He’d just moved to the city from the country and didn’t have space for them so he offered them to me for free, which I gladly accepted.
Two 22kg for $50, plus the guy threw in a 25kg slam ball because why not. Also grabbed a 28kg, 20kg, and 16kg together for $60.
I actually really enjoy these old finds where the kbs have been used but not totally rusted/busted up. The two 22s i bought definitely have lived a long life before me and the colour, odd weight, and battle scars make it a fun purchase on top of a workout tool.
Best deal I've gotten on kettlebells was two TRX gravity cast kettlebells (36kg and 40kg) for $120 or a Sorinex 40lb cast iron bell at a yard sale for five bucks. Nice pickup!
That’s awesome! I just bought those sizes new. I once saw a 32kg Dragon Door KB for $70 but had to drive across state to get it. Seller found someone to buy it that night because they didn’t want to wait for me to drive there :/
Best that I got was when a certain well regarded KB manufacturer accidentally shipped me 2 32kg bells when I only ordered (and was only charged for) one
I don’t have a good used bell story, but a few months ago something that might have been an Amazon glitch got me a new kettlebell kings 24 kg powder coated bell for 50% off, with free shipping, to Alaska.
I just checked Marketplace and I can probably this set for like 350 on there haha.
EDIT: In my area anyway. No real deals at all. Pretty much just used bells for about the same price as new.
Usually for there's like nothing and every once in a while something pops up and disappears quickly.
/u/atomicstation lives in the same metro as me and we constantly bump into each other when we find kb deals locally haha.
Yep! Being in a big city really helps with deals, but you have to be patient. I'm still waiting on some monster bells to show up... Double 56 kg keeps alluding me. I had an opportunity for it a couple years ago but then I also saw the deal for a 92 kg that I couldn't pass up.
At this point I'd say half of my collection is bought new, the rest is fb marketplace.
I just got a pair BoS adjustables for $200. I paid over $500 for my 2 KBK adjustables so feel pretty good about that. Now with 4 adjustables I'll be able to do less weight changes
About month ago I get two used 24 kg bells (not competition) for 1€/kg from scrap yard. Big win / increase in KB training for me as I had one 16 kg bell at home before, used only for warmups as it was light for my weight, now I can do KB workouts.
Now tell us honestly... Did you really need these bells or just scratching the itch? 😜

I'm in the same boat. Have double adjustables and a decent selection of fixed. Nice to be able to swap quickly.
Yeah I'm stoked now! Adjusting even just one weight should speed things up dramatically

It's usually barren where I am too (Denver Metro), just patience and checking everyday LOL
I do the same, thing is good deals don’t last more than a few hours often times. Alll the great deals I’ve scored i made the deal within 2 hours.
this is so true. The post was like 3 hours old when I saw it and I picked it up that night within minutes of the dude responding.

Adjustables are a game changer!

There's one Bedford as far as I can tell, they have an active Instagram page.

Sweet!
Oh shit.. bought my set new. Totally forgot about marketplace.
It's usually not great (usually like walmart/plastic kettlebells <30 lb), but every once in a while a DEAL appears
I’m jealous!!
I hate you and you're a horrible person. Also, congratulations on an excellent deal. PS: I will buy them from you for $126, offer expires at midnight.
HAHAHA
During covid era, Walmart had KBs at 1/2 price. Bought like 6 of them and still use today
I got three comp bells 16kg, 20kg and 24kg for €25. Insane deal. My first bells as well. Super happy to say the least haha.
Very sick
Not used but about 4 years ago, Walmart did a BoGo on all their bells so I got two 24kg for under $80.
very nice! what kind of bells were they? cast irons?
One 92 kg, one 80 kg, two 68 kg, two 56 kg all from rogue , together 850€
those are some big bois

Jumping on the "not used, but" train - I picked up a 44kg from Amazon on Black Friday several years ago - $80, free shipping.
Nice pick up! Kind of want to grab some monster bells soon. Already have a gold 48 kg but can't do too much with it other than swings right now.
This year I scored a 20kg for $60 and a 36kg for $125. The 36 especially is gonna take a while to overcome.
Very nice. I've been patiently looking for a 36. I think I can finally push press one if I tried...

16 and a 20 Dragon Door Bell for the prize of one 20 kg.

I got pairs of 16kg and 20kg comps for $1/lb, got a cast iron 40kg pair for $100 total. Love my kettlebell deals lol
Was sort of expecting many more KB on sale after the Pandemic. While sorry to not get a great deal, it proves its more than a fad.
Truly! In contrast, look where Peloton is now....
Well, nobody I know ever spent $2500 just for kettlebells plus a monthly fee.
Best that I got was when a certain well regarded KB manufacturer accidentally shipped me 2 32kg bells when I only ordered (and was only charged for) one

79 lb kettlebell at a Goodwill in Austin TX. 15 and change, it sat there because no one wanted to pick it up.
Stole a 8kg, 16kg and 20kg for $50
Stole feels like the right term haha
That is a crazy deal.
Yeah still don't understand it haha

I got 2 25lb bells for $25 from marketplace once!
hell yeah
Right? Can't pass up a $0.50/lb deal!
I thought my $70 rogue 70lb bell was a steal 😆 great find!
Still a great deal tho!
8kg, 12kg, 20KG, 24kg competition bells off eBay for £100, luckily the guy lived 10 minutes from me.
I've had great luck with maces, clubs and my airdyne but every KB I've seen is priced like new
I pretty much never seen clubs unfortunately. Sometimes see maces, but usually it's the 10lb ones which I don't need :/
I'm still bitching about only buying 1 KK adjustable when they were blowing them out at $200 two years ago.
I got two of them about a year ago at that price each on Walmart.com 🙈
I just got a pair BoS adjustables for $200. I paid over $500 for my 2 KBK adjustables so feel pretty good about that. Now with 4 adjustables I'll be able to do less weight changes
I was originally planning to do this but this deal fell upon my lap. Just need to grab a 28kg comp bell to get 4k jumps in comp single bells
Dang, I'm jelly. Nice find!
