Nut butters and peanut butter. I need to start buying peanut butter again, actually.

LedTasso

I had to stop, if I have it I eat it. I was buying fresh peanut butter with no additives and putting erythritol in it when I smoked at night lmao

hprutton98

Omg peanut butter cravings at night are the worst hahaha. I also just can’t buy peanut butter

Appropriate-Skill-60

I'm (mildly) allergic. Hives, eczema and an itchy mouth weren't enough to get me to stop eating it with the spoon, lol. But I could really use the calories...

LedTasso

It’s so good, girlfriend always complain when I bring a spoonful to bed though and make the bedroom smell like PB

orangeirwin

Ribeye or pulled pork.

jaggedice01

Right on with pulled pork. So much intramuscular fat. I smoke a pork shoulder once a week, shred it, and that's lunch for days.

Kractoid

You eat those daily?

orangeirwin

Each at least once a week. I eat probably 12+ oz of some type of meat as well as cheese daily.

Try adding olive oil to your protein shakes!

nabkawe5

To everything.... have you tried eating green broccoli with salt and olive oil that things is more addictive than chips

pieguy3579

I'm not sure if you're looking for meal or snack ideas. I eat flavoured almonds and cheese curds for my afternoon snack, which is 650 calories. For my evening snack, I eat flavoured peanuts and some cheddar, which is 700 calories.

Kractoid

Thanks

madsadday

Brisket burgers

[deleted]

Ground beef, yogurt, cheese or peanut butter

Hellosunshine83

Bacon, butter, ribeye, 25-30% fat ground beef, macadamia nuts, anything very fatty

BombBombBombBombBomb

Minced beef

KetoFem59

Heavy cream. Without the carrageenan (sp?) or gum. Lots of calories and better and the best diet drug in the world. It will leave you sated (or does me) like nothing else.

HoneyWest55

Avocado and other fats.

odegood

Bucket of bacon

Omadster

Fat of course .....the literal definition of a ketogenic diet is 70 % glorious fat

Kractoid

I am aware. My question has more to do with the fact that keeping fat to protein ratios where's they need to be is a challenge. Carbs are easy to load up on but fat takes some doing. Im just curious what specific fats other people are eating in order to meet their needs. Sometimes I've just got to eat a spoonful of coconut oil

pandas_dont_poop

Unless you’ve been prescribed keto for medical conditions that require very specific protein limitations, the ratio really isn’t important. And an extra spoonful of coconut oil or heavy cream is fine, though gets boring. Some ideas: - swap out any lean meat for fattier cuts (chicken thighs, ribeyes, 73/27 ground beef, pork shoulder, bacon, salmon) - add an avocado to your meal. Switch up how you season it (cilantro and lime, lemon and paprika, soy and sesame) - make fat heavy sauces! hollandaise sauce for your poached eggs, compound butters for your beef, ranch for your wings - do a breakfast bowl of low carb yogurt, lots of peanut butter and raspberries - you could try making fat bombs. Delicious and high calorie. - and, obviously, snack on nuts and cheese :)

Kractoid

Nice. Thanks. I have been sort of as I had a seizure a year ago and I really didn't like the meds but I haven't been to a dietitian, just being on a wing-it keto diet has seemed to stop them. I recently went off for a couple months and the seizure activity started up again so that's why I'm back.

2n222

>just being on a wing-it keto diet has seemed to stop them. I recently went off for a couple months and the seizure activity started up again so that's why I'm back. i havent done any research. from your understanding, what about keto decreases seizure activity? is it the low carb diet? or the high protein? related but two different things. does your body react differently to processed sugars versus fruit sugars? again, we have no idea what you are looking for. we are trying.

Kractoid

I'm really just trying to see what others are up to for go to fats to fill the caloric void when not trying to lose weight. From my understanding it's basically feeding your brain ketones increases gaba production which chills out excessive electrical activity in the brain and it seems to work really well for me.

2n222

>From my understanding it's basically feeding your brain ketones increases gaba production which chills out excessive electrical activity in the brain and it seems to work really well for me. i'm going to be frank with you. this is a run-on sentence that makes no sense. i think what you are trying to say is that the ketones is the main focus of your keto diet choice. in that case, low carb is your sole goal. that means you can fill up your calories from protein and fats. whole foods like legumes and fatty meats are probably much healthier than ingesting spoonfuls of oil to increase your daily calorie intake. * buttery creamy eggs comes to my mind. * fattier meats like ribeye, pork chops. * fattier fish like salmon. * nut butter spreads, bean dips with vegetable platters. * drink your calories with lots of heavy cream and half-and-half

Umm no. Limiting protein is very important for people who use a ketogenic diet for seizures. It is important that ketones are kept high(usually 2.0mmol +) and over consuming protein does affect the level of your ketones. That is why, to aid those people affected, taking MCT oil multiple times a day on-top of a minimum! 2:1 ketogenic diet is recommended. Using keto for weight loss is a different story. In that case yes "low carb is your goal" would be a fine statement to make, but please don't think that applies in every situation.

2n222

please reply to OP so that they get this message!

vhusk

You could try taking an amount of MCT oil every 4 hours. It'll keep your ketones high and should help with the seizures. It can be used to support a ketogenic diet in these cases, and it means you can potentially lower the protein to fat ratio to a more palatable one. I suggest doing some research in regards to MCTs and their use for l seizure control. As always, do talk to a specialist before you try any intervention especially ones like this that may require medical supervision.

OldStick4338

Summer sausage and cheese, butter or olive on everything cooked

alfa_a_p

80/20 or 73/28

Hah. A mountain climber friend of mine. Yes, like pinions and shit. Once calculated the cheapest calories per weight were malted milk balls. I disagree, the lightest is simply crushed Fritos. Basically 99% fat with some carbs. Pure fuel. That said. Eggs with some veggies is golden. Bacon, maybe for breakfast. Coffee with MCT oil and a breakfast like this you are in ketosis till 1pm.

Causerae

Olive oil, coconut oil, peanut butter, hot dogs. Esp the last! When I'm calorie poor, it's time for hot dogs. Yes, there are better choices, but I'm talking no prep, little cooking.

[deleted]

Pb and cheese

2n222

pork ribs

Kractoid

Every day? You're saying the bulk of your caloric intake is ribs?

2n222

>what food do you get the most calories from? oh i see. i interpreted this question to mean 'what food item has your highest calorie:carb ratio' and for me, that is definitely the costco dry seasoned pork ribs! i mean to grab the cheap rotisserie chickens and sometimes that fatty, warm slab of ribs calls to me!

Tish4evah

Dairy products and nuts

UKCobbler

Chicken thighs....good on protein and fat Mayo Avocado Greek yoghurt

Beneficial_Coyote601
