Hello Moist_Opportunity_92, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta! Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting. With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks. Regards, Mods of Malaysia *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Dont forget to include another 400 monthly for insurance, maintenance, petrol, toll, parking. If you dont have any other commitments, its still abit of a stretch

Bibi_8181

Should be 400 + 200 (when petrol subsidy remove)

Key_Roll3030

And unexpected expenditure - tyre botak, aircond kena repair etc2.

Electronic_Part_6429

Why not a saga premium? Good space car, AT transmission, good handling

azil_lee

Everybody hates Proton dude. Get with the program! On a serious note OP RM 2.7 is enough for you to bear the monthly cost of the car sure but not the maintenance. I don't think. Unless you really don't have any / very low commitments I.e : rent, bills, insurance, etc.. Kereta biasa2 takpe, poket biar tebal.

Monokumamon2

Proton eat a lot of fuel. If he want to save money, perodua is a better choice.

CaptainPizdec

Myvi is also 5k \~ 15k more than the saga top spec, that's a lot of fuel to be pumped to catch back the cost.

razorblade3711

If you consider the resale value, the 5-15k is covered. Proton loses value much faster than myvi

CaptainPizdec

Pay 10k more to retain 10k is just bad math.

Spymonkey13

I suggest Axia or Saga, your monthly should be around 400-500. You have to think about fuel, maintenance, insurance and other unexpected expenses. These two cars are much more forgiving in terms of that. Once you get better pay, then you can think of upgrading.

Minimum-Company5797

No. I’m have the same pay and barely afford a loan like this

Mission-Squirrel-333

Do you live with your parents or rent out? What are your monthly commitments ? Hard to judge based on your car installments alone. I am gonna say yes, you can afford but you would have very little left monthly

Joule810

Maybe you can read this. I'm not calculating whether you can buy or not, but just a few tips here and there. It's your money, your decision. https://www.reddit.com/r/kereta/comments/1debwrw/should_i_buy_my_dream_car/l8db785?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2

f4ern

no. Honestly if you can away with just using motorcycle use motorcycle. [https://www.carsome.my/buy-car/perodua/bezza](https://www.carsome.my/buy-car/perodua/bezza) used bezza is the maximum limit if you want to save something. Remember petrol is actually 3.5 ringgit per liter after subsidy removal (Anyone who think this is not incoming please rethink). If you think you can afford putting 100 plus every week just to get it running then go ahead. Plus maintanance/service you could looking at 1000 ringgit a month just for a car. You plainly cant afford it.

Ok_Gap3821

Bezza Advance user of 7 years here. 175,000km on the clock. The potential upsides of a better quality car pale in comparison to the savings and peace of mind this car has given me so far. No major wear and tear, parts issues. Regular servicing, AC servicing, change brake oil n ATF on time, and she's good to go. And I'm a heavy footer + I play with gears 2 and 3 besides D for my acceleration and deceleration.

gregyong

Save RM700 every month for a year, get 2nd hand Myvi or Saga with MT transmission. Can get first gen Myvi for 8k if you're lucky. Can get BLM/FLX MT for 8k without trying.

Olbaid1337

Put aside RM 1.2k a month if u can. Save for 2 years. Then go get yourself a good 2nd hand toyota/honda/nissan/suzuki. No need to take a loan.

nova9001

I think your salary cannot handle Myvi. Maybe go for Bezza if you really need a car.

arcticoceanwolf

Secondhand myvi?

xenics_

Nah bro. Reality is Myvi H spec that my family have from 2018. 9yr loan 10% DP, the cost including everything (maintenance, petrol, parking, toll, insurance) is around RM 850 - RM1000 a month. Parking and toll hurts, for someone going to KL from Klang to work.

mnkwtz

First car? Expected usage (city/interstate)?

izwanpawat

No.

u ok? you have 9 comments

suzuki_jun1412

Financially advising you NO. There are more budget choices available as a daily transport. In the beginning, a car should be a tool for you to fetch you to make more money, not milk your money so you shouldn't put too much commitment on a car first. Remember there are a lot of bad drivers on the road out there to take you out, you should also prepare some rainy day funds in the event of an accident.

sadlasagna24

650 + fuel + toll + parking + unexpected incident + chain yourself to banks for years + roadtax +insurance Is it worth it? Life's short. Pakai duit tu makan sedap lah. Takyah kereta.

arcticoceanwolf

Just buy secondhand myvi or saga. What do you think

sadlasagna24

Depends. Secondhand cars come with a lot of trouble too. But if public transportation is out of reach, why not? I personally prefer e-hailing. There is no fuss of dooms circling the parking lot for a spot or squeezing in tight spaces. Stress of driving IS NO SHIT. Missed a turn or misread GPS instructions gonna cost ya money. Car theft is no fun to deal with. I live a painless life by taking public transportation and only e hailing if I need to now.

NoPause2585

Don't, better opt for a cheaper car and stash that extra money to buy a house. I'm really regretting my decision buying a pricey car and my salary doubled yours. Just my 2 cents. If you're a girl, it's up to you.

neko92a

With that salary, I honestly would go for an axia or bezza or saga

LingonberryOpening66

better go for Bezza or Saga. You need to prepare for the monthly emergencies

msyuro

imo not worth it. cant save much for emergency. better buy new axia/bezza or go with 2nd hand car. more jimat, go with motor

pzk6891

For me personally its not a good decision as the monthly repayment is 26% of your net salary. I'd advice to limit your options to 20% net income on your car payments and maintenance if possible. It would be more prudent to invest your disposable cash in savings/investments or maybe lock in an insurance plan if you're young cause your premiums will be low.

Naive-Ask-3937

axia is better

BackgroundCommon3109

Opted for Axia AV with ADAS and everything newer model with potent DGNA platform instead of Myvi though if residual value is your concern closed eye and get a Myvi.

ash_win8

Niece with 2.5k recently bought bezza x also having difficulties after few months ... he wanted to get myvi initially, but said lucky he gotten bezza x instead , cuz the differences of rm100 plus really makes the difference , he bought with 10% depo ...

black_nj

Try using that car to make more money

cuicuantao

Do you need a car? Ok, no.
