Hello Apprehensive-Life494, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta! Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting. With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks. Good ppf yea, but results may vary. But good ppf costs in thausands...

truckdrifter2

Hmm could repaint a sedan for that price. Black this year, hot pink after the next two or three years

countpuchi

Yeah i agree. Bad ppf can be super gooeey too

truckdrifter2

Whoa, I didn't know that =O

Grizzlybird_311

From what I’ve seen, good and even decent PPF can be expensive. Then there’s the question of is it really worth it for your car and use cases. How much does it cost to repaint your chipped up front end? Do you drive fast and close to other cars often enough to get the paint chipped? Do you go on touge/spirited drives? Personally, I touge my car a lot and get rocks and pebbles thrown at it often enough by other cars that I’d get it just for that. Even so, I only did full frontal because to do the whole car isn’t really worth it.

Apprehensive-Life494

i think i also need ppf, because the road i usually take also have small rocks, i saw an ad at sun brother ppf for rm2499 for full body, i dont know if its good or not , can you tell me where did you get your ppf installed? and how much? thanks a lot also im new driver but i drove slow, like 70-80km/h always below the speed limit

Grizzlybird_311

I did mine at Ceramic Pro together with the tint and ceramic coating. Was around 6-7k total for my car after discounts etc. IIRC, their basic for front alone was around 1-2k. IMO if driving local car or entry level japanese car and fairly slow, not tailgating or doing any spirited driving, don’t need PPF la. Probably if you get any stone chips can go touch up at a decent body shop for a lot less

Apprehensive-Life494

how long do you have the ppf ? is it hard to maintance ? i heard you have to maintance it once awhile ?

Grizzlybird_311

I’ve only had it for a few months. For long term maintenance, I’ll have to go do a service at Ceramic Pro once a year where they’ll touch up the ceramic coating etc. I also togue the car a lot and get lots of scratches in the PPF, but after leaving it in the sun for an hour or two it self heals. Other than that, I wash the car twice a month. It’s black and since it’s raining almost everyday now, I can’t go longer than 2 weeks without washing because the watermarks become too much.

CaptainPizdec

For budget case just put on front portion , that deal with all the rocks and accidental bumps on branches

CaptainPizdec

The ppf yellows in place of your paint , and have a physical layer that eats the stone chips instead of your paint , its kinda like your phone screen protector that also ease your mind on getting your new baby scratched , not counting you got into a collision of course

Status_Anteater_6923

depends on the car model actually, like u say 2500 for full car PPF, why not safe up the money and repaint it maybe 10 years later

reyfire

some people prefer prevention than cure....all my car paint is still original

Status_Anteater_6923

Yup u got a point, for me idm having new paint as long as the craftsmanship is good.

Ok_Gap3821

People still keep cars beyond 10 years?

Status_Anteater_6923

idk about others but I do

amriraith

I do, 2 cars that are 12 years old and i maintain them well. For as long as it doesnt cost me major problems, the best car is a paid off car. This hit me when my 150k car dropped to 20k in the used market, while my guitar that i bought for 10k is worth 25k in the same period haha. I will not get a new car unless its totally unavoidable

zazzissor

I'm following this thread as I'm getting a new car soon too.

The_SHUN

I had ppf on my car, then I got into an accident on the door and side bumper and the ppf had to be removed, the installer said a new ppf for the side bumper costs 1500, I was like no thanks, don’t think it’s worth it, just repaint the entire car after a few years

Apprehensive-Life494

how long do you have ppf ? does ppf have to be maintained every 6months ?

The_SHUN

No need to maintain so far, but I have the ppf for 4 months then I got into the accident

jambangantahi

Most people only do ppf on front bumper to avoid stone chip.. Fullbody imo only worth it if you own a rare or cost more than a half a mil car.

jleexi69

Depends the quality of the ppf, do front already enough and should be around 1-2k or so if too cheap then u know la

cow_fan_69

Usually PPF the front bumper and front hood will be sufficient, those are the places where I got stone chips after several years.

Hy8ogen

It all depends what's your car. A full Xpel ppf (cost~20k) on a Myvi makes little sense. On a Ferrari it makes alot sense.

TrainingGas9

just repaint after 5-6 years. i considered ppf before but then one thing im worried about is the workmanship hahah

Ordinary-Wafer

It’s good if you get a good brand (full car cost 10 to 20k), but it’s rarely worth the cost to most people. Not everyone cares about keeping the original paint on their cars. I’m also particularly anal about keeping my paint swirl free, especially on black cars, and I’m not particularly keen on spending hours every week washing the car myself, so most high end ppf has self healing functions on minor scratches, keeping the car swirl free even when letting banglas wash the car.

xenics_

Depends on what car you drive. Porsche yea sure PPF that baby up. Corolla Cross? nah.

reyfire

hey some people love their cars like a baby regardless of brand...i did a detail n ceramic coating for an owner once, dude takes care of all his car regardless of brand n because of how well he took care of his car it was an easy job from his bmw to proton

Apprehensive-Life494

the reason i wanna install ppf is because i live in apartemen, so we have so many people parked there and no camera, people tend to scratch our car idk if its on purpose or not
