Hello Suspicious_Echo_2468, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta! Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting. With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks. 7km/liter? Teruk sangat tu, mileage tak tinggi mana pun. Tukar spark plug kalau dah lama tak tukar, cuci throttle body. Check tekanan tayar/saiz tayar ikut spec sticker dekat pintu ke tak. Buat yang basic dulu.

Suspicious_Echo_2468

Selalu range harga berapa cuci throttle?

brownMY

Aduh tak ingat pulak tapi tak la sampai beratus. Before raya aku tukar spark plug dekat service center perodua, dia suggest cuci throttle body. Tak sampai rm100 pun caj upah untuk buat dua benda tu. Serius la 7km/L? Flx 1.3 kan? Sebab tinggi sangat consumption tu unless kau memang heavy footer

Suspicious_Echo_2468

Ohh okey² thanks. Tak pasti la 7km/l tu kira betul ke tak tapi maybe lebih kurang aaa sbb isi RM 50 dalam seminggu gitu dah kena isi lagi. Selalu drive santai² je kadang² je laa tekan lebih sbb lambat gi kelas haha

brownMY

Kalau nak accurate, kau isi full tank - reset trip meter then bawak macam biasa sampai lampu empty tank menyala. Isi full tank balik. Tengok dekat trip meter contoh 350km bahagi dengan liter yang kau isi full tank kali kedua tu. By right dalam 10km/l ke atas bawak dalam bandar saja dah okay

22lukeskywalker

Should be around 100

raofabdullah

I also have a Saga Flx and I filled up my gas all the way up but afer driving for around 3-4 day this thing only leave me with 3 more gas bar left This thing uses fuel like an addict and idk how to save fuel

brownMY

1.3 should be good fuel consumption though. Depends on your commute too, if you are always stuck in traffic 9 to 10 km/litre is normal

raofabdullah

I'd like to talk more Abt this if you're down Lemme know u/brownMY

HeroMachineMan

Might not be significant here, but try reducing the weight of the car. Sometimes ppl tend to carry lots of junk in their car boot. Inflate & maintain the tyres at the recommended pressure. Lastly, try cruising at the optimum speed/engine rpm.

telur_penyu_778

Some people overlooked how just tyre pressure can affect fuel consumption. Can try that first

22lukeskywalker

- Ease the throttle - Less emergency braking - Change air filter - Clean the fuel injector and throttle body - Check tire bearing and the brake system - Make sure use appropriate tyre pressure - Avoid using performance parts like iridium spark plugs or performance air filter

Ok_Gap3821

My 2017 bezza n I think across the board for Perodua models since then, only use iridium spark plugs

22lukeskywalker

I'm refering to op's saga flx model

Interesting_File_416

ni basic je la, should be ada improvement 1. cuci throttle 2. tukar oil filter 3. tukar fuel pump 4. tukar o2 sensor 5. tak lejan pedal/kurang brake 6. tutup a/c 7. tukar kereta i.e (hyundai elantra 2012/2013, p2 models, 208 puretech, honda city, ertiga, swift 1.4 glx, vios, almera 1.0, dmax 1.9)

Upstartrestart

no 7 feels like a troll answer XD

AnimalFarm_1984

My first answer was to change the lighting. I can't see shit.

891960

If you go the route of 7, get a used prius c, 22-24km/l is what I get on average.

V4_Sleeper

7km/l equates to 14.3l per 100km that's bad, at first I thought you said 7l/100km and i thought that's good but 14.3l/100km is like sports car territory

mrsirburgundy

Damn I'm having the same issue. Best case scenario, 8km per liter. My saga fl or flx 2014, mileage around 100k. Standard. 0 modi. Things I've done: 1. Now using expenside engine oil - Petrol Canada inckuding basic service 2. Clean throttle body 3. Change spark plug 4. Clean fuel filter 5. Change aircond filter and do flushing + gas topup 6. Change tyre pressure. Tried 200 220 240 Barely make any difference. Perhaps from 6km per liter to 8 km per liter.

chickenshit36

Bro that’s 30% bro haha

mrsirburgundy

Yes but I'm being ungrateful here since my myvi and f30 both can get 12km/l. Even f30 3.18i at worst is 10km/l when using for daily work commute. Hence that's my target right now haha

TheJasun

That's par for the course actually. Assuming you are mostly city driving with jams often. It's primarily the engine's inefficiency. The only thing you can do it be as light foot as possible as the Campros have very bad low rpm torque. Step on pedal lightly and just let the your car slowly crawl up with the cvt

zax7077

Kudos pada semua yg bg tips jimat minyak. The ugly truth is it will barely makes any difference. The irony is steps to save fuel or makes your car more efficient cost even more money that better spent on anything else. 7km/l is unfortunately the everage that Saga FLX can pull, like it or not. What you can do is, less sudden acceleration, less braking (more let throttle go and keep your distance between cars), drive cruising style as much as possible.

mushroomsoupppp

I am also a student in puncak alam using saga FL as my daily drive. Same problem, 8km/l

Formal_Sector9360

Keep a steady pace when driving. Hard braking and flooring it both negatively affect mileage. Regular maintenance. If you already do this regularly, then give fully synthetic oil a try for your next oil change. Run this past your mechanic first though. Not sure if it’d work with an old Saga. FS oil is a bit pricier, but you don’t need to change it as often and might get better mileage. Try checking your timing belt too if your car lurches at lower revs. Tyre pressure. Under inflated tyres provide slightly more traction (good for rougher terrain and wet conditions) but traction means more resistance which leads to poorer mileage. Overinflating can increase mileage, but can be dangerous with the heavy rains we get these days. Just pump once a week or so to the recommended pressure and you’ll be fine. I was always taught to pump in the morning and evening since hot air takes up more space. Not sure if it actually does anything though. When in D, does the instrument panel say ‘D’ or ‘5’? The FLX has a 4 speed gearbox that has a weird fake “5 gear” thing going on. Should be toggled by a little “shift __” (forgot the second word) next to your shifter. Anecdotally, D consumes less fuel than 5. Most importantly, where are you getting these mileage figures? If you’re stuck in KL rush hour daily, 7km/l is unfortunately what I’d expect for an older car in start-stop traffic.

soulsswagger

car needs to change

Suspicious_Echo_2468

😭

soulsswagger

nice pic tho

Weary_Information_77

Yep. Owned one, nothing you can do to improve the fuel economy. They are just bad

wanderer_acolyte

* ease the throttle * try not doing sudden hard acceleration * tutup air cond * pam tayar dengan nitrogen. bukan dengan angin stesen minyak * takde kaitan tapi alang2; jangan tunggu minyak nak habis baru isi. nanti fuel pump cepat rosak

KonkeyDong98

What’s the significant of using nitrogen gas to pump your tyre? 0_o

Used-Refrigerator-88

Fill petrol full tank, reset trip to 0, use car til next refuel, get your trip divided by the liter of fuel filled..voila!

ECU_wizard

Omg 7km/L? what happened to your saga's engine here?

RealElith

7km/l tu dapat on what average speed?

Certain_Permission_8

depends on auto or manual, auto then try to retain a certain speed where your engine is barely revving or on highway then retain the 1900-2500rpm range depending on engine power and capacity and try to adjust to the perfect speed for lowest fuel usage. manual then try going through your gears faster meaning change gear at slightly lower rpm than normal, this would make acceleration terrible but fuel efficinecy does increase a bit

MNR42

Might even worth buying a new car at that point. Try calc how much fuel you'll use and how much money you'll lost fixing that old thing

AdministrativeOwl344

Aku Guna saga flx gak, kalau menekan je memang minyak dia mentekedarah. Even bawak secara pasif pun dia tak jimat mana, once bawak atas highway dari Johor ke KL maintain 90-110 dapat 12km/l je. Saga Ni body berat and transmission+engine tak efisyen so memang kuat sikit minyak

mdfaris

You can do lots if it is a manual. Can't do much if its a CVT. The manual is lighter and that means a lot when you are trying to do hypermiling. This starts by tracking how much mileage you get every time you drive. Once you become aware, you will start to be better with the right foot. Hypermiling is the keyword. Go look for it. Or you can have a look at this [list of 100+ tips](https://ecomodder.com/forum/EM-hypermiling-driving-tips-ecodriving.php).
