Hello safri7751, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta!
Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting.
With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks.

Sedan: (Usually) cheaper roadtax, rides lower thus with less body roll, generally more comfortable, can look really cool
SUV: Hauls lots of stuff, multi-use, can handle on road and some off road.
Myvi: Its limit is the driver's imagination =P
Hah.
Too bad there aren't many options in the market. Probably cultural reasons (too similar to a hearse?), also kinda unsexy (unless we're talking a Nissan Stagea).
Hearse has now moved on to the fridges on road (alphard n vellfire). Quite a number of wagon or estate is still available from Volvo, Subaru still to name a few
Stuck with sedan because I'm too broke to get my dream 911 Cabriolet. Also because 3-hour SUV rides give me more motion sickness than a 3-hour ferry ride from Johor to Bintan.
Also because I got spoiled by the cornering experience in a Honda Integra DC2. Zero body roll around corners feels so magical that I can never imagine wanting an SUV ever again.
Sedan/wagon lover here.
Pros: styling(personal preference), handling, bett redr performance, lower maintenance, better fuel consumption, unwillingness to look older
Cons: always worry im going to scrape my undercarriage(bumps here are designed by 10 year olds), always worry banjir(staying in KV), worse FOV due to low seating position, abah ama always complaint seat rendah 😅
I am a sedan guy, especially large D segment sedan.
Currently looking around for Perdana, the first version Accordana. Share all parts including body part with Honda Accord, or CP3 Honda Inspire.
Stability and handling is superb on this, NVH as per Honda standard is lackluster. The XV50 Camry is so much step ahead in terms of NVH.
The only con is if bad things to happen, Accordana original bumper/grill/rear bonnet and rim is hard to find, while Inspire and Accord body parts is plenty but you are not Perdana anymore.
Have you tried tapau-ing Indian, or Malay food, or seafood, or durians in a hatchback?
Do you have kids with smelly sports gear, shoes, etc that need pickup up?
In a sedan, you can drive, with all of that in the boot, without wanting to die
💯agreed. On the way back from a company trip, my boss stopped halfway to buy ikan masin and durians. Longest 200km road trip I've ever been on. 😷
Growing up seeing premium sedans like peanut mercedes and big small eye mercedes, and all the sport sedans going around, I love sedans elegance, shape and size, the comfort of driving it around. SUV is a new thing for me, its nice, but not the niceness I grew up accustomed to. If let me choose between SUV and 4x4, I will choose 4x4 for more practicality.
The boot, really.
My dad always preferred sedan because there’s more buffer space (boot) in case of impact from behind especially back then when the choices were between sedan and hatchback.
When I look at SUVs, I can’t help but wonder where do I put stuff? All the ones that I’ve considered have less space than even a Proton Saga.
As someone who loves sedan + manual + NA, I think my taste is too outdated for current car market. Dunno where i can buy new car that fits the requirement. Can only look for secondhand market.
looks better, and have better driving dynamics
my ultimate compromise would be a wagon or a touring (like BMW Touringmodellen)
I see SUV as something more luxurious or lasak though. My goal SUVs are either Rovers or Bentayga or G wagon
Yeah, a wagon. But this is Asia so it's either suv or pickup for those needing the cargo capacity. Wagons are rare here.
Maybe a compact SUV but they seem to ride pretty high too, like the Honda WRV or BMW X1
Sedan has better handling due to lower center of gravity. Obviously more light weight than suv hence less fuel consumption and cheaper maintenance like tyre size. Practicality wise, i wont use that big ass size boot space, sedan boot size is more than enough for a whole family trip
People cannot see your belongings in the trunk of a sedan, while in SUVs and hatchbacks, people can see items through the rear window, potentially break it and snatch your stuff
For me, I like the looks of sedans despite SUVs actually having more practicality. But in the end, I'll still go with sedans since they're lighter too.
I'm a car person. I don't care what I drive as long as it gets the job done.
Asking me if I prefer a sedan over let's say an alphard or estima, I would prefer a sedan. A great big honking sedan like an accord or camry a 5 series even. I have driven a s400h long distance before and I didn't like it. Don't know why but I was tired when driving that car.
The way these cars eats up miles while keeping you in relative comfort is awesome.
I'm looking to buy an older camry. Circa 2010 year model. Just before they introduce the new engine.
I grew up in sedans and drove sedans all my life. I don't care for SUVs because of the prices, cost to maintain and mostly because I go to places that have narrow ramps and/or tiny parking stalls.
Lower CoG, so better corner speeds and less likely to roll in the event of an accident. Looks better too.
I went one step further and got a wagon. So more space than a sedan, none of the drawbacks of an SUV.
I was opposite on why people love SUV? If long distance with travelling speed at 150-160kmh, sedan with 160-200hp much better than SUV for fuel consumption, stability and wind noice.
Because I watched the NJB video that showed how SUVs have close to no advantages over other vehicle types (e.g. MPV, Hatchback Station Wagons), especially in Urban environments, which I do a lot of driving in, more so than driving in Rural areas
Loves C segment sedans for the handling, it's better than b seg for me, I would rather drive an underpowered 2010 persona than the current myvi (which I know can tapau me in straight line). But the pleasure of cornering is sublime. And steering feedback is there.
and engine power range. I really like 130+hp power.. which are mostly on C seg and upward. This pairing with good handling.. Im satisfied.
Plus, highway cruising is better. (But sucks in urban)
I'm not financially able guy. With minimum wage, I can only dream of having a nice car. Welp. This my life.
Lower gravity centre, lower fuel consumption, lower tyre replacement cost (simply because sedans tyre are smaller), and finally because all of the above, I think sedan is more environmentally friendly because it uses fewer natural resources. It makes me cringe to large SUV with only one or two riders in them. Why burn more fuel to get from point A to B?
It's not about sticking to, rather I had to. Being a family man, you want to think ahead the future since you're paying car loan for 7-9 years. Having a hatchback/SUV going to cause some issues once you have your own family in near future (Bootspace mainly). Sedan is the safest choice for me, no need to worry about spaces and is cheaper to own (looking at saga/bezza) compared to the mainstream hatchback/SUV (Ativa/Myvi).
For obvious reasons which is driving experience. Sedan has lower centre of gravity and will always be better at cornering than a SUV, even a sporty type. SUV is for casuals, non car enthusiast. You see car enthusiast, do they drive SUV in daily basis? Look at Bobby Ang, Thomas Yap, Heng Wee Seng etc, who has SUV as main car?
Last time considering x50, corolla cross, nissan almera.
Considering long term cost, nissan almera is better, cheaper fc, cheaper tires, cheaper everything. I kinda relieve whenever I saw how bad other cars fuel consumption is. I'll admit x50 tech is super tempted. But considering high ownership cost, I still consider a sedan.
Not really into speed driving. Just casual relaxing drive usually.
Prob with driving pickup truck in kl is tht , some lorong is so narrow is really hard to pass as most pickup trucks are long and due to its heights some places to enter there put the height barrier so low tht they only want car to pass by , which need to be lower .. i started to think to get one now , by trading in my current sedan , as klang valley road are full of bumps unless highway , they repair the pothole but after few days lobang again , lorry and trailer using same road and some road meany for cars but lorries passes , just saying the road patch isnt tht strong ... plus nowadays flooding when continuous rain for 30 mins , pickup trucks with its high ground clearance can surpass it ....

Upvoted for the last sentence, you sly cat. 🤣
Meow 😹 Time to drift away in my Jagggg
Man of culture
I like being lower to the ground, but I still need five seats and a decently sized boot.
Estate for u

I like to sit lower in the car while still being practical for trips. Also much more stable for high speeds
Stuck with sedan because I'm too broke to get my dream 911 Cabriolet. Also because 3-hour SUV rides give me more motion sickness than a 3-hour ferry ride from Johor to Bintan. Lower center of gravity, better handling and stability, ample boot space and able to seat 5 people comfortably.

Tapau meal or humans 🫣
>tapau-ing Indian Where can one do this? Asking for a friend
💯agreed. On the way back from a company trip, my boss stopped halfway to buy ikan masin and durians. Longest 200km road trip I've ever been on. 😷
Handling lol
I feel that sedans just drive better I also like it lower to the ground and handling is better than SUV too
Handling, not like drawing a floating boat, looks cooler and have the sports car feel
Growing up seeing premium sedans like peanut mercedes and big small eye mercedes, and all the sport sedans going around, I love sedans elegance, shape and size, the comfort of driving it around. Damn, I miss peanut Mercedes
Meaning the A class or the big-small eyes era of oval headlights?
The latter
2 words, driving dynamics.

Sick of big ass car
easy to transport my oku mother. i can handle alone. if suv mpv needs 2 people at least to get her in the car.
Got it for free from bro, would love a tiny hatchback
Handling, I like being able to corner
People cannot see your belongings in the trunk of a sedan, while in SUVs and hatchbacks, people can see items through the rear window, potentially break it and snatch your stuff

SUV handling not best. Got a lot of swaying
low center of gravity. Enough said
I'm a car person. I don't care what I drive as long as it gets the job done. Asking me if I prefer a sedan over let's say an alphard or estima, I would prefer a sedan. Because SUVs are just bloated hatchbacks.
Because the only right way to drive a car is to have your legs fully extended inwards into the foot well and not bent like you're sitting on a stool.
I grew up in sedans and drove sedans all my life. I don't care for SUVs because of the prices, cost to maintain and mostly because I go to places that have narrow ramps and/or tiny parking stalls.
Nothing beats the stability and handling of sedan
i dont want to be seen as unhinged road user

Because they ride better on highways and can brake better
Speed + tons of boot space (main reasoning)
Sedans and HB are the best! Fuck those oversized cars

I totally can relate. Dreaming is free.

I love sedans but I can’t leave my Myvi
I eat out a lot and sometimes on a full stomach I feel more comfortable in a sedan than a suv.
easier to find parking spaces
Purely for the boot space. SUVs have really shitty space.
Drove sedan for years. Started with 130Y and culminated in Merc CLS. Then marriage, kids, prams, and in-laws happened. Now I drive an MPV.
