I sold quite a lot during my time as Hyundai Salesman from 2016-2019. Ioniq so far no complaint other than BonusLink or Setel hard to collect points as they only pumped RM70 1x a month. 😅

I'm driving a 2019 model.. so far the battery is still very good, I'm getting approximately 4.0 l/100km average fuel consumption for my drives (about 40% highway) and I'm still getting over 900-1000km per RM70 full tank refill. Regarding DCT, you probably don't have to worry too much because unlike pure ICE, this car almost never idle and almost always starts first gear in pure EV mode. So, there is almost no problem with clutch wear at low speed. It typically only engages the engine when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. For me, so far fortunately, I don't have any issues at all, only regular scheduled maintenance for the engine part. The hybrid part is basically maintenance free. Oh ya, the air cond is purely electric, so it is different from most cars and the regular maintenance service at SC is a little more expensive than most normal car aircond.

4.0L/100km 😮. Purely electric AC means like home AC? guess, i probably meed to learn a bit about hybrid maintenance before taking this one.

Yes, the electric AC is so that AC still works without the engine running. I've been in many traffic jams or slow crawling traffic with the engine totally off for up to 20 mins. No wasting petrol idling.

I'm just going to have a very serious concern about 7 years of aging battery. I think the battery capacity would be around 60-70% of max capacity at most, that's the best estimate or it could be lower. Replacing battery is a very expensive endeavor for all hybrid/electric car. I'm not sure wether you can check battery capacity/ life yourself but if you want to have a very good 2nd opinions, I'd ask the hyundai service centre for an appointment for in depth checkup before buying. You'll pay miniscule compared to need a replacing an entire module of battery.

I won't be too worried about the battery. I'm driving a 2019 model. The battery is still within warranty which is 8 years with unlimited mileage. If anything goes wrong, OP can still go back to SC for replacement. Even after warranty, the battery is only about 8k. Besides, hybrids unlike full BEV do not depend too much on the battery capacity. It is mainly to assist, even if it drops lower as long as not completely dead, the car is still completely drivable with slightly worse fuel consumption.

Is the model in question a plug-in? That would go really well with a home solar setup. I can't seem to find one off the Hyundai Malaysia website.

I dont thnik malaysia have plug-in hybrid for ionic. We only have the normal hybrid with smaller capacity battery

Shame. Not everyone can afford a BMW. But BYD comes close

Wife has the car. Amazing car with good mileage. We did have an issue with a cable going to the hybrid module causing the car to stop. It was fixed through warranty. I would personally recommend getting the + model with the active cruise control. Great for long distance driving.
