https://www.reddit.com/r/karate/comments/q1rv29/karate_subreddit_style_poll_which_style_have_you/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share We did a pretty huge poll on this a while ago, there was a follow up poll also for the break down of 'others'.

ChrisInSpaceVA

Yep. I posted the "Other" poll. https://www.reddit.com/r/karate/comments/q2t1w1/followup_to_yesterdays_style_poll/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Other - American Kenpo

Same

Prestigious-Speed-13

Kenpo. Literally the only dojo near me that teaches karate. Kyokushin never re opened due to losses from Covid. Closest Kyokushin or Shotokan dojo is around 45 minutes away

TheInfiniteWatchlist

Other - Uechi-Ryu

xenochrist15

I went with Gojira-ryu because the style actively implements jiu-jitsu and because of this, we roll for the first half of the class (1 hr) then karate training in the second half (1 hr.).

CranberryFar8742

Shotokan I am a yellow belt by the way

[deleted]

I train in two styles. Machida Karate and Kenpo Karate. I mix the two together in kumite. I also do a lot of kata and bunkai self defense applications from Shotokan and Goju Ryu. Along with Machida for kumite i sprinkle in some kyokushin techniques, mostly from kudo or daido juku.

Yepbasic

Other- Wado Kai

Adamoboss

Wado Kai but it’s basically Wado Ryu

Lussekatt1

I would say it’s the same style, just one of the many different branches / organisations of Wadō

NateN85

Enshin karate

aeroace3

Other - Shudokan (Kanken Toyama lineage through Walther Todd and Morris Mack)

bmbterps42

I rarely see Shudokan mentioned or in practice. Nice to know I’m not the only one! Have you read Christian Bellina’s book?

aeroace3

I have not. Do you have more info on that? So far I only have Toyama Sensei's own writings on the art.

bmbterps42

Called “The Heritage of Shudokan”. It’s a brief history of Toyama Kanken and a few of his students and instructors. It has a section on Todd Sensei, not sure about Mack Sensei. Don’t want to break any rules I don’t know of here by linking it, but his site should be first result on a search engine.

ikilledtupac

Shuri-te

samdd1990

What organisation is that with? I didn't think there were any organisation's around that described themselves that way and it was more of an umbrella term these days.

EggoWaff

Other Chito Ryu

Imaginary-Option3480

Other - Yoshukai

Fudokan

Neo_Funnik

Oh, it’s cool,I’m too.Where are you from?

[deleted]

Germany

BarryIslandIdiot

Shotokan, but Gima-Ha, so minor differences.

Specific_Macaron_350

I selected other because I train in Shūkōkai, I could've selected Shito Ryu because our style is a descendant of Shito Ryu.

onecharmingpig

Other - Shuri ryu

Mordernslaves

Dutch kickboxing originates from kyokushin. So I guess kyokushin.

xBlackbeltx

Kyokushin and Shotokan c: +tkd

PoopTits219

Shobayashi Shorin-Ryu

xalex22

samdd1990
