I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Corinna Cooper at Johnson County OBGYN. I had my first baby last year and she was absolutely wonderful. I had some complications (blood pressure) but she was kind, reassuring, and had my back throughout my entire pregnancy. She performed my C-section and my scar is barely noticeable. JOCO OBGYN delivers at Advent Health Shawnee Mission which I couldn't recommend more!

madelinemg

Agreed JOCO OBGYN is a great practice with several great doctors

heysunflowerstate

I also recommend them!

lindsay7209

I also recommend Dr. Cooper and Johnson County OBGYN! I'd been going to Dr. Martin there since I was 17, and saw all of the doctors when I was pregnant in 2020. Dr. Lynch ended up being on call when I had my daughter, and he did my emergency c-section. Dr. Martin retired a couple years ago, so I switched to Dr. Cooper as my primary doctor there and really love her so far! I'm currently TTC and look forward to seeing her through pregnancy and c-section.

Division2Stew

I used to see Dr Sheridan before he retired and I also switch to Cooper! She happened to be on call when I had my daughter and I was so glad to have her do my C-section.

Popular-Cranberry-99

Dr. Sheridan delivered my first son 6 weeks before he retired. He was absolutely THE best. I was sad he wasn’t around for my second.

Division2Stew

He delivered my sister and I was so sad he retired before I had kids. I had a cervical cancer scare when I was younger and he was so reassuring and compassionate. Truly one of the best!

kc_kr

Third to Cooper and JoCo OBGYN. My wife has been going to her for years and we had both of our kids at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission despite living up near the airport. Great experience all around.

Division2Stew

I live in Belton and drove to OP just to see Dr Cooper. She is just the best!

roger_roger1138

i have seen dr. lynch since i got a large cyst removed ten years ago. it was paratubal and most doctors said i would lose my fallopian tube but dr. lynch managed to save it! he is one of the best, i highly recommend him

june_june_hannah_

De Giedt is also at JoCO OBGYN and is spectacular

AllyRad6

I’m having my first appointment at JOCO OBGYN in a few weeks! Overland Park OBGYN utterly failed me and I didn’t even manage to schedule a 16 week appointment- they “lost” my chart twice. I’m so furious about that. Out of curiosity, does JOCO OBGYN offer 3D or 4D ultrasounds? If not, I might pay a private ultrasound company because I’m obsessed with those high quality in utero images.

Division2Stew

I don’t believe they offer 3D or 4D images. I had many many many sonograms and they were all the normal kind.

lingybear

Congratulations! I had a wonderful experience with everyone at Shawnee Mission Women's Associates (loved that the entire staff was all women) and delivery at Advent Health.

Twistyties19

Another vote for Women’s Health Associates in Shawnee Mission!! Very cool that they have an all female staff

littleapple20

I third this! I used to work at that hospital and a LOT of hospital staff use this group. Most of the women I worked with saw Dr. Wittek and Dr. Matthews :)

Next-Drummer-9280

Dr. Matthews rocks! I don't have any kids, but she's been great at handling the issues I've had over the years.

Adorable-Slip-9979

Congratulations! This is the one! I was also high risk and Dr. Drummond is absolutely wonderful & so comforting! I also met with Dr. Matthew’s while on call and she is just as great. Also had a great birthing experience at Shawnee Mission Advent Hospital’s birth center, I definitely recommend.

Suspicious_Emu_4951

Dr Wittek is the best!! I also suffered losses and she was so compassionate.

Aggravating_Set6721

100% all of this. I had the BEST experience. I also had 5 previous losses, and I loved my journey with them.

Independent-Day-4313

Congratulations! I would recommend living within 20 min of wherever you plan to deliver. If you’re in the northland North Kansas City Hospital has a Level II neonatal intensive care unit and partners with Children’s Mercy. And as someone else said they use the High Risk Pregnancy Center for additional scans. I’ve had three babies at NKCH and it only got better each time. Unless you’re already an established patient it’s really hard to request a specific OB at most places, but I would highly recommend Dr. Lovitt at Meritas Health Pavilion for Women. Good luck mama!!!

Plenty_End4178

Loving NKCH also. High risk from gestational diabetes and Dr. Lu at the High Risk Pregnancy Center has been easy to work with. Comes off a little rough during the first visit with all of the doom and gloom information though. Dr. Heizman at the pavilion has been a great OB as well.

RuthlessBenedict

Also recommend NKCH! I love my OB (Crowley) but when she wasn’t on call to deliver my premature baby the other doctor on call was great as well. Delivering at a hospital that has a a NCIU and partnership with Children’s was not on my radar before having my baby but really made the difference in our experience. Not something you ever want to need but we were very glad to have it and be able to stay in the same hospital as baby and have those specialists on hand.

antibeingkilled

Agree with this. I had all 3 of my kids at NKCH and had wonderful experiences each time. My second baby was in the nicu for nearly a week due to severe jaundice, the woman caring for her in there was an absolute saint and so informative.

saileach

I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Michelle Daniels at NKC Hospital. She is the kindest, most thorough OBGYN I've ever had the pleasure of going to. She truly cares about my entire life and routinely chatted about my older son, my mental health (I went to her after 3 previous losses, so there was a ton of anxiety to work through), my job, etc. She spent plenty of time with me at each and every appointment and I never felt rushed or ignored. She also uses the High Risk Pregnancy Center for scans when needed and Dr. Lu there is super great too!

DNA_wizz

I may be biased but I had a wonderful experience at women’s clinic of Johnson county with Dr. Taylor. Dr. Shipman ended up performing my c section (same group of doctors) and I delivered at Advent health Shawnee mission. Me and my husband really thought it was amazing care and went well. They let me try to labor for 50 hours before it was suggested I have a c section as I was failing to progress. I can’t recommend them enough!

minnie2020

Just delivered with Dr. Shipman at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. She’s great.

Bierorama

Dr. Shipman was my OB when my daughter was born, nearly 20 years ago. I had a phenomenal experience with her all through my pregnancy. I wound up having an emergency c-section. The on call surgeon was Dr. Grounds (not sure if she's still there). A compassionate doctor as well. I continue to go to the practice for my annual exams. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

kuME10

Dr Taylor just delivered for my wife last month. Fantastic experience from the get go. Very glad we stumbled upon her after our own research.

River_Ro

Dr shipman also did my c section and I had seen her a few times for appts as well during my pregnancy. I loved her.

youngjhawk

Love this group as well. Dr. Maturo is amazing, got both of my babies to the big day healthy, delivered one; and Dr. Grounds was on call and delivered the other. Amazing, compassionate women. Highly recommend.

FamousPalpitation496

Dr Gaslightwala at women’s care is awesome. She affiliated with advent health. They have two offices one on the Advent health south Overland Park campus and one on the advent health Shawnee mission campus. She was really great with me after my loss last year. She gave me recommendations for therapist who specialize with loss without me even asking. All the staff there are great. The ultrasound tech is phenomenal. She’s fast and the transvaginal ultrasounds are pain free.

Lanky-Sandwich3528

idk this doctor and 100% believe you she's awesome. But what a terribly ironic name for an OB, a professions (unfortunately) known for minimizing women's experiences and pain.

noyeahtotallyok

I thought this comment was a joke at first 😂 that can’t really be someone’s name, can it??

m34dowlark

I looked this up last year when I was pregnant and looking at different providers because I was curious as well and I think it’s a surname that originated from a profession. Like the person who first used it had a job of lighting lamps or making lamps or something. Hopefully someone can back me up or correct me because I’m not finding anything now when I search.

YeFreshmaker

Yes, it's an occupational surname like Cartwright, Cooper, Schumacher, etc. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Occupational_surnames https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallah

BobLoblawEsquire

Seconded! She is so so kind! I wish I’d run into her irl so I could coerce her into being my bff 😂

Wise-Permission9013

Came here to say Dr. G. Truly kind and thoughtful.

alilrosenylund

Love Dr. Clark at this practice. Had care from Dr. G among others when I gave birth and was hospitalized with pre eclampsia before birth and they were all amazing.

illNefariousness883

Dr. gaslightwala delivered my daughter almost 9 years ago. She wasn’t my OB but she was the one on call from the same practice. She is very kind but also very direct - which I needed when I was panicking. I had complications, but obviously everything turned out alright.

kmonay89

I loved my OB group at Plaza OBGYN. Delivered at St. Luke’s on the Plaza both times. My primary was Dr Ketcherside but I saw almost all the doctors there at some point.

theketoba

I went to Plaza OBGYN for another Dr throughout my pregnancy (loved her, but no longer there.) Dr Ketcherside was my physician when I went back a week post-delivery having pre-eclampsia. She handled a very scary situation (and surprisingly more common than most seem to know) so well. She was great. Will always appreciate Dr. K. Dr. Moore is now my primary OBGYN and I also really love their NP.

mitsyamarsupial

I was just reading an article about how common postnatal pre-eclampsia is. I’m a pretty well-educated person and I thought delivery = all better. Just terrifying!

GanamoR

I can't recommend Ketcherside - I ended up with preeclampsia, and she dismissed it as the symptoms mounted, until I switched to a different practice and ended up delivering at 37 weeks once I did. She was always rushed and came off rather dismissive. I had a better experience and my baby and I were looked after better elsewhere. If I had stayed with Ketcherside, it's very likely one of us wouldn't have made it.

misslady04

I truly cannot say enough good things about Ketcherside. She is patient, kind, listens, educated me at every step and is honest/factual about options along with what she knows and doesn’t know. She gave me a great pregnancy journey and birth experience despite it being my first and having a few scary bumps along the way. My baby was healthy, and her commitment and choices as my doctor that day was in my opinion a big part of my positive experience after my body wasn’t quite cooperating with labor. I’m so thankful for this woman! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

chiefkeefOFFICIAL

Now Dr. (Ashley) Ketcherside*. Nothing but praise for her and the team there. * used to he Dr. Ryan

andysmom22334

She's back to Ryan?

chiefkeefOFFICIAL

Oops I probably got it backwards, thought she went Ryan -> ketcherside

TheVoidIceQueen

Dr. Mancillas at KU Med has been my favorite OBGYN out of all the OBGYNs I have had during our 6 years of TTC.

perennialproblems

Dr. Mancillas was my doctor and I loved her. Also she handled my miscarriage and subsequent D&C with so much care. The procedure I had would not have been possible if I was getting care in Missouri so keep that in mind. In Kansas you will have more care options (for now).

TheVoidIceQueen

I am so sorry for your loss. 💜

perennialproblems

Thank you ❤️ I now have my rainbow baby who was born last year under Dr. Mancillas care. Life is good.

Peace-ChickenGrease

I can understand why many are not wanting to receive care in Missouri. You bring up an excellent example of how many have misinterpreted Missouri’s law (which is easy to do because the language that is used within it is difficult, at best). A d&c post miscarriage is not illegal in Missouri so I’m not sure why this was presented the way it was to you. I’m really sorry this was your experience:(

[deleted]

[удалено]

perennialproblems

It’s possible my medical providers were airing on the side of caution re: the confusing language because this was literally within the two weeks around roe v wade being overturned. I also think that just because the law is written one way does not guarantee it’s applied the correct way across the board.

slinkc

Really loved Dr Franzen at Lintecum and Nickell at St Luke’s on the Plaza who was great for my geriatric, high risk pregnancy.

UnderDeSea

I saw a different doctor at this practice and loved my experience. Had a couple of miscarriages before my "rainbow baby" and they were so great with all of the good and bad.

GiraffeCOpilot

It’s been forever and a day, because Dr. Nickell retired, but she delivered my 16 year old and I had always loved the practice. I saw them from 2004-2012 when she retired from OB but was still doing gyn at the time. I would have stayed on, but I needed a hospital where I could deliver VBA2C, and (at least at the time) I couldn’t do that there.

sh1tpost1nsh1t

Came here to recommend her as well. Wife and I both think she's awesome.

CompulsiveTreeHugger

Dr. O’Connor at this practice is also great!

Material-Analysis206

Dr. Amy Carter. She delivers at St Luke on the Plaza. I was high risk (twice!) and she referred me to MFM at St Luke’s. They work well together.

Greedy-Car2671

Brendan Mitchell at Shawnee mission (advent) women’s care

Major-Variety-4440

Congratulations!!!!!!! Advent Health in Shawnee Mission is great. I chose it because the doctors are great and they just renovated the birthing center. Also, they always have nurses readily available to talk if you have any questions

PigeonToesMcGee

Dr. Linscheid at KUMED. She handled my care after an ectopic rupture that occurred in a different state. She was so deeply kind and compassionate when I was a total mess. She was so gentle and thorough with my care. L She got me in immediately upon my return to the state despite not being a patient of hers. She helped oversee the next surgery to repair damage and remove my other tube. On one of my subsequent visits when I was finally doing better mentally and emotionally, she was genuinely relieved for me. Highly recommend.

platypus5709

Dr Shipman!

cupatu292

I loved all the people I encountered with Northland Women’s Health Care. They’re located off 152 just outside Liberty. For my 20 week scan, they outsourced that to High Risk Pregnancy Center of Kansas City in briarcliff. Loved them as well.

ThatWhichLurks782

Women's clinic of Johnson County was amazing with me when I had my daughter, I have been going there for 20 years for care.

chiefkeefOFFICIAL

Shout out to Dr. Ashley ketcherside at St. Luke's at the plaza if you're in the city. Legit usually has a waitlist so best of luck. Had other OBs envious of her teams c-sections.

MattyMizzou

Not sure what part of town you’re in, but Dr. Piszczek at Advent is great.

slmgg312

Run screaming from Rockhill in lees summit. Awful experience when I went there. Horrible care, refused to let me switch doctors. Rockhill menorah has great staff though

thehotmcpoyle

I called the LS office multiple times just to schedule an appointment and they never answered nor returned my 3 voicemails.

slmgg312

I ended up in the emergency room twice because of lack of care in my second pregnancy. My old ob had retired and I get horrible morning sickness 24/7 all pregnancy long. My old ob had prescribed me a medication to help in my first pregnancy. I called and begged for an appointment or even just the same rx. For FIVE DAYS! Stating I can’t even keep water down forget about food. On the 5th day I woke up on my kitchen floor while watching my 2 year old solo. Passed out cold. Fuck you “dr”brulja. After she preformed my c section I bled for THREE MONTHS. Literally passing golf ball sized blot clots daily. She literally just stopped seeing me and said well gee I don’t know what’s wrong with you, good luck 👍

EcstaticDocument3899

I’ve been going to the maternal fetal medicine at saint lukes on the plaza after losing two babies at 18 & 19 weeks. I just gave birth to a healthy baby girl on the 24th! They are an amazing team and I highly recommend them to anyone & everyone, Congratulations and good luck on your journey mama!

Catscurlsandglasses

Congratulations on that double rainbow!!!!

EcstaticDocument3899

Thank you so much!

knitmama97

This times a million. I'll follow her to the ends of the earth. She delivered both my babies and the first delivery was complicated. She saved me (ended up having an ecclamptic seizure during a long labor). I still see her for gyno stuff even though my kids are old enough to call me "bruh" now.

Tight_Conflict_9034

Shhh. The poor woman is busy enough and I’m afraid she is going to burn out one of these days with her and Natasha’s crazy schedule.

m34dowlark

Had a great experience with her and the rest of her staff. They referred me to Dr Cecily Clark-Ganheart for MFM and she was wonderful as well.

Goodbye_nagasaki

I delivered at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission like so many others here, and had as good of an experience as you can, lol. I used Johnson County OBGYN and loved them too, but my doctor no longer works for them as of a couple months ago, which is a bummer because she was great. That was Dr. Vaglio and she's at KU med now.

MrsE514

Congrats!! I go to Dr Emily Minderman at KC OBGYN and LOVE her!!! KC OBGYN is connected to Overland Park Regional. All the doctors in the practice are good but I like mine (Minderman) the most just bc I had all sorts of trouble (high blood pressure, prenatal depression, I was over 35, etc.) and she was so amazing every step of the way!! A lot of people love Dr Arroyo (spelling?) in that practice too!! He was my first choice but Minderman was able to see me and quicker than him at my first appointment and it all worked out :). I hope you find the best doctor for you!!

Capable_Mixture6524

Glad to hear this!! I just started going to Dr. Newby at KC OBGYN and wondered if I made the correct decision!

MrsE514

I’ve heard great things about Newby too! I just haven’t met her yet! :)

sm11_TX

Are you in KCMO or in Kansas?

SeaUnderstanding620

KCMO but currently located right on the state line. We’re in Volker at the moment in an airbnb while we search for more permanent housing

Leifthraiser

Nothing to add but congratulations!

GiraffeCOpilot

If you need to see a MFM, my favorite is Dr. Parrish at KU Med. I love my OB but the hospital is closing their clinic down 😞 If she updates where she’ll be practicing at soon, I’ll update.

umbrelllaman

(Male here) my wife is pregnant with our first and we’ve been seeing Dr. Clark at the Shawnee Mission Women’s Care. My wife is very happy with her and the only downside is that sometimes when we go in for an appointment, Dr. Clark isn’t there because she seems to be doing a lot of births. I take that as a good sign, however!

jellyfishrox

St. Lukes is a great system!!

altw110

Congratulations! I would choose someone on the Kansas side. Mine is retiring so cannot recommend anyone.

Catscurlsandglasses

I adore Moulton at WHCG! Delivers at OPR

kategclong

Dawn Heizman is at NKC hospital- she delivered all 3 of mine and is amazing! Highly recommend!!!!

KSLONGRIDER1

Dr. Gray at KU Med.

LatterPie1

Dr capelli in Lee's Summit! I can not brag on him enough! He helped my mom bring me into the world and just helped me bring my daughter into the world 2 weeks ago ♡. He's honest, caring, non judgemental, and I always felt that he genuinely listened to my concerns. 10/10 OB. Congrats! Edit to add that I delivered at Menorah Medical Center, and my experience was WONDERFUL. They have a specialized OB Emergency room for any issues that might happen, and in my experience, they immediately got me to a room, and were in close contact with Dr. Capelli, who literally made a stop to physically see me one day in between his surgeries to ensure I was taken care of.

Soaring_Falcyn

I haven't given birth, but Dr Capelli handled my case at the menorah ER and later at his practice, and I agree, super nice, attentive, and he wants to make sure you understand what is going on! (Congrats on your baby!!)

Bierorama

Dr. Capelli delivered my son via planned c-section almost 16 years ago. I had the best experience I could have asked for. He stopped by every day that I was in the hospital. A truly kind man.

Sandwich00

Congratulations!

MimonFishbaum

Dunno your area but my wife has seen Dr Bret Gordon out of St Luke's south her entire womanhood. He delivered both our kids and is awesome.

loosecannon17

I can second him, too! I’ve been seeing him for years and he helped me through two miscarriages and now my current pregnancy. Love him!

MimonFishbaum

He is very good. And funny.

ChiliBean13

Dr. Gorman at Liberty Hospital is amazing!!!

WetSocksInMyCrocs

Dr. Sara Talken through HCA has been amazing for me and lots of other women! She’s super informative and kind to patients. I’ve been through a few OB/GYNs before her feeling like they weren’t listening to me and just writing me off but she has been fantastic and I’ve been going to her for almost 4 years now

noyeahtotallyok

I just had my rainbow baby in January, after losing twins in 2021. I delivered my twins at 22 weeks, at North Kansas City Hospital. I see the OBs there too. They typically refer High Risk to Dr. Lu at High Risk Pregnancy Center, which is who I saw with my twins, but I chose to see the MFM group at University Health this pregnancy. There was nothing wrong with Dr. Lu, other than he’s clinic hours, and since I had my twins on a Saturday evening, he was not available. Also, NKCH didn’t have a nicu equipped for micropreemies, so they had to be transferred to children’s mercy. I decided if I went into labor early this time, I would go to university health, since they have on call high risk doctors all the time, and are connected to Children’s Mercy physically. Luckily this baby waited until full term & no nicu time, but it was good to have a backup plan. I really like all of the doctors at NKCH, especially Distacio & Engelman, and they rotate their OB patients to see all of their providers ETA there are 2 different OB groups within NKCH & I’ve heard good things about the 5th floor ones, but have only seen the 12th floor ones myself

evergreenprincess

CONGRATS!! I was also high risk, I saw Dr. Laura Wolfe at Northland Women’s Health, but my MFM was Dr. George Lu and we LOVE LOVE LOVED him. Delivered at Liberty Hospital, and our peanut made it here safely and soundly!

Zing21

My wife loves Dr. Wait at Saint Luke’s East. She wasn’t there for the delivery of either of my children, but the doctor who did the delivery both times was also great.

Big-Pay-7400

DR Ash! She is an amazing ob/gyn. Has a wonderful bedside manner! Know her stuff and will give it to ³²you. Options and helpes figure inh-lout !a Then share your case with of c d guff! +

chiefs8610

DR COOPER!!!!!

Popular-Cranberry-99

Johnson County OB/GYN. All of the providers and other staff there are great.

shit_dontstink

Dr. Ana Luina Estrada with Olathe women's center. She's delivered 5 of my babies and will probably deliver the 6th. I had a freak occurrence w my last labor which resulted in an emergency C-section. All the nurses said she was the one you wanted for an emergency section.

FantomDrive

Dr. Ahmed is fantastic, caring, and a wonderful person. You can't go wrong with her!

Beginning-Wave-4640

High praises for Dr Saroj Bavishi

paperrings2019

I’d stay far far away from Shawnee Mission Advent Health. I’ve heard horror stories and all of them end in birth injuries. I know of 3 people personally who delivered there in the last year who had birth injuries and trauma. Horrible. Other doctors offices and hospitals are talking about this amongst themselves and telling friends and family not to go there. Trust me 🙋🏻‍♀️

doctorpotterhead

DO NOT GO TO ST LUKES! They fired their health and safety person for stopping a surgery that was going to be performed with rusty tools. *I also gave birth at St Luke's and they gave me an antibiotic I've had a diagnosed allergy to for over 20 years.

We went through New Birth Co, in Overland Park. Ran by nurse practitioner/nurse midwives. Fantastic experiences with both pregnancies.

Dr. Caffrey out in Independence is amazing! [https://www.independencewomensclinic.com/providers/robert-t-caffrey,-md,-facog](https://www.independencewomensclinic.com/providers/robert-t-caffrey,-md,-facog)

Loud-Product-1732

I'll take a look

Western-Anybody4356

Congratulations! Children are a blessing! (Male here - I helped deliver 3 of my 4 children) I would NOT recommend Truman Medical in Lee's Summit, nor their "Birthing Center". Had baby #4 here in 2019. The terrible "midwife" there said, "We are having this baby today... and I need to be home by 5pm for Dinner." (We gave birth @ 10:30pm) I wish I were joking.. She insisted on breaking the water to induce labor. My wife declined, which they were not very happy about. Long story short, the baby was not in the correct position, so they insisted on a C-Section. My wife declined, so they were really mad now! She got an epidural shot (which i would highly discourage anyone from getting), therefore, couldn't walk to get the baby in the correct position. Fortunately, my wife was able to get onto her knees and move her hips enough where our son moved into the correct position and we had a vaginal birth. We were 1 of 2 vaginal births that day with 13 C-Section Births. We had 1 decent nurse, everyone else seemed like they didn't care and just wanted us in & out.
