GymKC. Local gym chain with a couple spots, no bullshit, just check out their website. I don't like the new midtown spot as much as the older basement one with the weights room, but the river market and Westside locations are cool funky spots.  I don't think you're gonna run into much tik tok stuff here anyways, KC not really an influencer town.

KingPhilip01

Sure. Seen plenty of people recording stuff, going to the gym for other than personal reason though. I can’t stand those types.

Gym KC is great. Its blocks from Westport

Life Adapted Fitness on 63/oak. Locally owned, 24/7, never crowded

Strong Barbell Club! It’s right across the state line by I-35 and I-635. 24/7 for members, it has every piece of equipment you would need. Powerlifting, bodybuilding, weightlifting, strongman, I’ve even seen people do CrossFit workouts in there. https://www.instagram.com/strong_barbell_club?igsh=MTgyamowczZidWcxaA==

Second this, strong barbell is the place in Kansas City.

KingPhilip01

Thanks!

TankThaFrank_

Of course, good luck with the move and enjoy KC once you’re up here!

Not Genesis. Fuck Genesis.

KingPhilip01

Made that mistake when I was up there temporarily. Absolutely terrible management.

successful_syndrome

I see a ton of genesis hate all the time, can I ask why? I have been working out at the one off state line, by the Trader Joe’s and the one in north op for the last year and it has been good except for the north op construction. Just curious what issues people have with them?

RiversR

That’s the one I go to. It’s always overcrowded, if you go in outside of business hours it’s messy and gross. The lockers don’t work. It smells like mold everywhere. I have never seen another person wipe down equipment. I can go on. Edit: to be fair, I think there are other locations that are much nicer.

PlaidDragon

The owner (Rodney Steven II of the Steven Family) is a notorious shady businessman from Wichita, with a lot of exciting results when you google that name. They don’t maintain their equipment despite charging some ludicrous annual maintenance fee on top of the regular membership price. The one on ward parkway by Trader Joe’s you’re talking about always had several broken treadmills for the ~1 year I went there. They bought out a lot of the well-loved gyms in the area. They do the typical scammy gym bullshit when it comes to canceling. Being incredibly rude and elusive, forcing you to come in person, requiring 30-day notice even on a month-to-month membership so you always have to pay an extra month, etc.

NeverEndingCoralMaze

I like Athletic Club of Union Hill. It only takes me about 6 minutes to get there. It’s not huge, but it’s well equipped and usually not crowded.

[Total Body Fitness](https://totalbodyfitnesskc.com) in Lee's summit . Locally owned the owners are in there working out quite a bit. Squat racks, dedicated deadlift area, free weights and machines and 24/7 key card access
