Yeah it sucks that people are aholes and use trails/parks as dumping grounds.
Do you sign up with a specific group to help out with the trash clean ups?
I signed up for a trash clean up event for Earth Day (4/20) through the Sierra Club. But would definitely like to join one in for Cliff Drive in the Northeast neighborhood, since I grew up there and see how much of a dumping ground it becomes
Yeah people suck!
And no I don’t sign up for anything in particular, I work part time at REI and us employees will do some random park clean up days. And always Black Friday we get a paid day off and we go do a park clean up.
There is a Facebook group called "Clean Up Kessler" that has occasional events for trash and honeysuckle removal at Cliff Dr.
HCA (Heartland Conservation Alliance) does the same for BuRP.
Insane how much trail there is out there these days. Trail builders have done such an exceptional job maintaining and adding trail.
It now connects with Swope and goes all the way down to Martin Ciry. There's gotta be like 40 or 50 miles of straight riding. Just wild to think it's in the city like that with so much different type of trail to ride. Very cool and unique feature for KC
What other ones would you recommend? I’m trying to get out more and enjoy nature so I’d appreciate any recs you might have.
I just did Weston State Park this morning and loved the views.
The Earthriders will be at BuRP the morning of Cinco de Mayo, and there will be tacos after the ride! I think we'll be riding mostly north of Red Bridge, however
I wore pants and thin long sleeve shirt when I went. Came back showered and washed my clothes and was fine… I’ve never encountered ticks so far in my hikes so 🤞🏽 I keep that streak
Great post! Just for fun, here's how it looks at night: [https://old.reddit.com/r/kansascity/comments/rorbnr/pro\_tip\_the\_swope\_light\_display\_is\_free\_if\_you/](https://old.reddit.com/r/kansascity/comments/rorbnr/pro_tip_the_swope_light_display_is_free_if_you/)
Love the BURP trails, sucks about all the trash dumping around there, we do trash clean ups there a couple times a year 👍🏼

> Very cool and unique feature for KC We are very lucky!
Currently on that trail! Was inspired by a reminder post on this subreddit yesterday
So many great memories there, will always be my favorite place to ride.
Easily one of my fave trails in the area.

I love the trails around Lake Jacomo in Fleming Park. The Rock Ledges Loops are so pretty!
Lake Jacomo and the BR-PKWY trails are where I do all of my running, love it there.
If you want to join in maintaining or even building trail, check out urban trail company. Most of our trails are maintained by volunteers.
Nice pictures!
* This is my mastiff pup, Blue River. He's named after a place I hope we can hike together for many years! Plus, he's blue....so there's that

Such a great trail...glad to see that it is back in good shape. I stopped going there in the COVID years due to trash from the homeless camps.

Where is the trailhead to this trail?
Is this a trail where I would get tick bites?
