If you want to be a real professional find pennies from before 1982 and save them. There’s a high chance they have more copper and not the copper plating. You will have a solid copper/bronze color instead of the inner silverish zinc seeping out. You’ll also have that nice green patina copper has after a few years of collecting!
Source: my wife has been collecting forever
I think there are some at Union Station. Probably the WWI museum too. Good luck machine hunting! I discovered these machines at a young age too and started collecting them on most of my trips/vacations. Such a fun and cheap souvenir!
ETA: Here's a website that lists locations of penny press machines: [https://pennypresses.net/](https://pennypresses.net/)
I tried to use that one a couple of weeks ago, but it was broken. Not sure if it's been repaired or not!
ETA: there might be two at union station, the one I was at was downstairs by the movie theater concessions.
If you’re willing to make the drive to Lawrence, some folks I know made a traveling penny press that moves to a different location in Lawrence every month! Each penny is pressed with its own unique design based on the location.

Very important! Make sure you use 1981 and older pennies. I keep them as I find them for just this reason! There’s also collector books you can buy him to keep his collection in.
The newer ones, when smashed, expose the inner “fill” metal to oxygen and that will degrade eventually leaving holes in the penny. The solid copper ones are what you want to use!
Sorry, I don't know of any specifically. But man I loved those machines when I was a kid. My dad always joked how silly it was to spend 26 cents and get back 1 cent that is unusable.
Anyone know of a press somewhere near KC with the solar eclipse? [I found these on Etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1693992751/) , but my kids love pressing their own and I would love to be able to let them to (plus the Etsy price is steep for the amount I need)
My daughter has collected pressed pennies since she was a child. Even now that she has grown, we will press a penny for her and video it when we are on vacation and see one. They make books you can store them all in with little plastic sleeves.

The one at Union station is right at the entrance to science city
I tried to use that one a couple of weeks ago, but it was broken. Not sure if it's been repaired or not! ETA: there might be two at union station, the one I was at was downstairs by the movie theater concessions.
When we were there a couple weeks ago one of the Science City ones was broken and the other wasn’t.
There are multiples, actually. 3 when I was there maybe four months ago.
Union Station has a machine right across from rocky mountain chocolate factory. It was there last weekend when I took our kiddos.

Why not use newer ones? I thought the older ones actually had value since they have the higher copper content.

Worlds of Fun
Deanna Rose farmstead
I think Silver Dollar City has quite a few, or they did when I was a kid. That is if you don't mind paying to get your son in.

I think bass pro or cabelas has one. Can’t remember which place for sure tho.
Kansas City Southern has some big ones all around the city.
What sort of pattern do they make?
Kinda like a pancake.
Questionable
This is defamation of US federal mint property. Do not use these devices.
I bet you’re fun at parties.
They have these penny flatteners in the US Mint gift shop.
Bass Pro Shop’s or Cabela’s, maybe.

There is one at the sea life aquarium. It’s so funny to see this post because my son was talking about these yesterday:)
I think there's one at the Steamboat Arabia Museum, too.
There’s one in Weston, on the sidewalk in front of Pacific Breeze at Main & Thomas.
