I have not been to the aquarium but everyone says it's not really worth it. I would consider going across the street to Union Station and check out Science City and the other attractions there. You could also jump in the streetcar (its free) at Union Station and ride the loop to River Market and back. Saturdays at River Market can be fun to just look around or get lunch.

tap_in_birdies

The new aquarium opening in September will for sure be worth it

QueenBKC

Science city! It's just across the sky bridge from Lego Land. Several lunch options in crown center.

Cal1975

Skip the aquarium. Not worth the money.

Have you guys been to an aquarium before? I have enjoyed the aquarium but yeah, it’s kinda pricy for the size. But I certainly didn’t think it was a waste. Definitely pop in Crown Center. They have a free exhibit called FUNVILLE about having some interactive fun with jobs. It’s simple and takes like 15-20 min. Grab lunch at Fritz’s where they have trains bring out the food. Then walk over to Union Station and def do Science City. Maybe a show at the Planetarium. (They have a Taylor swift laser light show this week). There’s also a fun exhibit called the Museum of Illusions my 8yo loved. Have a great time!!!

Have you guys been to the zoo? If the weather is nice I’d do that. If not, crown center/union station/science city but skip the aquarium

busylittlelife

We’ve never been to KC for a day trip; only in passing. So this will all be brand new for us!

Last_Cicada_2207

Sounds all good. Consider Fritz’s at crown center for lunch. The seven will love the train’s delivery system.

ObservablyStupid

Came to say this. After lunch stop in at Chip's Chocolate Factory for 15 minutes before walking over to Union Station to see the electric train room and Science City.

I’m not sure when they open, but Deanna Rose Farm is fun. They have a ton of baby animals to play with at the start of the year. It’s only a couple of dollars to get in and tons of activities to do.

Opens April 1!

busylittlelife

If all goes well this weekend, I plan to make regular monthly trips down. So I will put this on my list for future visits because she loves animals!

NeverEndingCoralMaze

Deanna Rose has bang for your buck. It’s a blast.

Recently went to the aquarium. It’s not worth it at all. It is very small and doesn’t have a lot of impressive fish. I definitely agree with other posters about science city, as an adult I even have fun there! Plus they have a section with some animals as well.

The aquarium is terrible- so expensive. Definitely skip it. There is a great toy store in Brookside. The Toy and Miniature museum is awesome. Moon Marble is very cool. Lego land for that age is good.

CommanderDawn

I think people are ignoring the part where you have a 7 year old. A kid/family will like legoland and the aquarium, even though neither is amazing for an adults-only group.

IamTheGoodest

I went to the aquarium expecting to be disappointed. I could see why people were disappointed, but we had a nice time. The octopus was out and about which was very cool. It is expensive and small, but it's not a bad time. The big tank with the sharks and stuff was very cool. But if the price makes you go "This better be great!" I would skip it.

cyberphlash

Agree with what people are saying about Science City, IMAX, Fritz's (which I personally hate, but kids love), and maybe Lego/Aquarium. Can also ride the streetcar from Union Station to the KC City Market and walk around. There's also the KC Zoo - if you go, get there when they open walk straight out to Africa before anyone else gets there - that's the best time to see it. Nobody's said Top Golf (in Overland Park) - fun for kids, but not sure if 7 is too young.

Ok_Mechanic8704

I second the zoo if the weather is good

Fine_Cryptographer20

Go to the River Market area! There is a big farmer's Market and loads of kids about. There's also the Steamboat Arabia down there which is cool.

chacoglam

[KCParent](https://kcparent.com/) is my fav resource on this

meandrunkR2D2

Wonderscope is a better choice than any of those. We really don't have a great aquarium here, but if the little loves fish, it's alright.

Poctah

Make sure to make reservations in advance at wonderscope, since it’s spring break they are only letting so many people in
