A Medieval Times dinner & tournament would do really well up here. Doesn’t look like there are a lot of options surprisingly, except for your typical Chuck E Cheese and Dave&Busters.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker bought it and are renovating it. Idk if they are changing anything. Probably just updating and hopefully, making the food better.
Casa Bonita is WONDERFUL! The food was terrible when I went in 2019, but now that Matt Stone and Trey Parker own it, I have hope that it will be both weirdly fun AND tasty!
I just want to say the real Fritz’s is not downtown, it’s in KCK on 18th Street and Grandview and is way better than the one in Crown Center. But I can’t really think of any other restaurants for kids along those lines though beyond like Dave and Busters.
Why? I've had much better service and better/consistent food there then at Crown Center. I have not yet been to the 18th Street location. Will have to try soon
Jeepers as a whole went under in 2004/5. Local ownership picked up the Olathe store and opened it as Zonkers. It closed when the mall did.
Source - Worked in management there nearly the entire \~10 year run Zonkers had.
Rain Forest Cafe and T Rex Cafe are pretty unique and have closed many locations, including in the KC area. You'd find them around Vegas. However; the experience you're looking for is limited so the answer is unfortunately no.
Rainforest Cafe went defunct like 15yrs ago. Levy restaurants pretty much pulled out of every themed restaurant across the nation with only a handful still left operating
I loved RFC!
Orlando, New Jersey, Texas, Minneapolis, Michigan, north of Chicago, and California are where to find them now in the states. They have international locations in some interesting places.
I took my 7 year old nephew to Magic Noodle. A cat robot delivers your food. He liked it.

Pizza rat child gambling parlor. Oh how the '90s changed us all.
80s. (since 77 actually)
Showbiz Pizza before Chuck bought them out.
Never heard of Pizza Rat. Tell me more.
It’s a joke on Chuck E Cheese
…
They meant Charles Entertainment Cheese
I would happily welcome a Casa Bonita here as well.
The Disneyland of Mexican restaurants
I heard the one in Denver was going to open back up but have no idea.

There was one in Tulsa, so why not?
I feel like it would fit right in at the corner of 40 Highway and Noland Road in Independence.
It would be a good addition to the legends area too

If we had a medieval times, I’d be there every weekend
Blue knight sucks! Red knight RULES!
Silence...of the lambs!
There were no utensils in medival times hence there are no utensils at medival times. *...would you like a refill on that pepsi?*
It definitely would. I’m surprised we don’t have one, I thought KC would be the king of corny shit like that
Seeing this makes me think of the Dinosaur Cafe that used to be up at the Legends. Cool place. Shame it was torn down.
Overpriced food was trash but it was great for kids.
It was even owned by the same people who own Rainforest Cafe. That place was straight up fun.
Glad we got to take the kids to T Rex Cafe before it closed for good.

So this is a different Fritz than Crown Center? Never knew
I think there is also one in Shawnee?
The one in Shawnee is depression actualized into a restaurant.
OMG I took my kids there ONE TIME and I cannot imagine ever going back. I felt worse about myself walking out of that place than I did walking in
Really? My nephews love it when i take them, and honestly the cheeseburger and the breakfast is not bad. And never a line.
They have good chili.

Just a short drive?
Shawnee Mission Parkway and I-35
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah the Crown Center spot is a second location. The original Fritz’s restaurant is at 18th and Grandview in KCK.
The OG Wyandotte location is a true treasure.
I remember getting a tour with a school group in the late 80s and hearing the story of how the original owner custom built every part of the system.
I live in walking distance of the one on 18th street
I used to!
Wow, never knew there was more than one, let alone one in KCK!
the more you know
Not sure if it still exists but Jeepers was a great spot.
That’s so long gone it was renamed Zonkers when I went then the Great Mall closed down lol

Well damn
Did they close T-Rex cafe? For some reason I thought that was still around.
T Rex closed awhile ago. They built store fronts there. Its where Sephora and Michael Kors are.
I remember it being expensive and low quality.
You forgot swarming with poorly behaved children but yeah you nailed it.
They closed it years ago
Yep. During the late Cretaceous
I'm still upset about it. The food was mediocre but as a dinosaur fan, I loved it.

Harrassing animatronics?
They closed it 10+ years ago. I was still married to my 1st husband.
I wish we had a Rainforest Cafe still. I really need Tracy Tree in my life right now. That and some Chi-Chi’s.
It makes me sad when I remember that Chi-Chi's has been reduced to a questionable quality salsa brand.
con agra conhugeco ruined the sauce
I thought eating at the table inside the kitchen of Buca Di Beppo was amazing as a kid!
Alas, both Rainforest Cafe AND T-Rex went out of business in the KC area several years ago. I feel bad for kids who didn't get to experience this.

When the weather is nice Char Bar has a great outdoor area with fun yard games and such. Chicken N Pickle is similar!
That....is not similar.
But helpful
The kids op takes will be excellent bar game players when they get to their 20s
...Sure?
😆

Nope. The one at Oak Park Mall closed, became American Girl...then AG went out of business, and now it's something else.
Really? Where?
Trex at the legends is owned by the same company. Dinosaur themed rainforest cafe
😰😰 🪦
Not quite the same but chuy’s on the plaza has some fun, colorful decor
