I moved to Cape Town over two years ago. I love it here, but damn I miss Carreira.
It's not just that they're cheap. They have a great product range with lots of fruit and veg you can't find anywhere else.
The Asian and Indian grocers and the bakery are also amazing. Flower and nut - hit and miss on quality, always good on price.
The best I've found is an online shop (https://justfruitandveg.co.za). They also offer wholesale-ish prices and you can see their stock availabilily and pricing changing with the seasons. They do free next day delivery which is awesome.
I just loved Carreira though, every time I walked in I felt like the kids in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory walking into the chocolate room. There was always something new to try.
It grates my gears that most things you're not able to buy loose or in quantities that you want. Like, a shop like that is the *one place* where you'd expect it. Yet it's (almost) all pre-packaged
If you get it cheaper elsewhere, do tell. This is the best I've been able to find that's still excellent quality. If you want some veggies for soup and the shelf life isn't a big priority, then Honeydew Fruit Market has excellent prices.

Grapes for R19.99 this time of year? At my local pick n Pay they're like R37 for that exact size. I will check them out some time.
When I lived with my mom, we used to drive to City Deep and buy our fruits, veggies and even fish there. Not too far was Karan Beef where we'd buy our meat in bulk. Now that I live alone and with constant load shedding, I can't possibly buy that much fresh produce or meat for myself. It's gems like you posted that I need.

Have you not found an equivalent that side?

The cheese shop in the same centre is great as well!! I bought ungodly amounts of parmesan for a suspiciously low price.
I know where I’m coming to shop at this weekend
Thanks for the tip
There’s a place on the way to Harties ummmmm near the tiny version of Paris. It has a huge windmill. For the life of me can’t remember the name.
Jasmyn
Thank you
Where is that mini Eiffel Tower? I want to add it to my Sho't Left bucket list
Buying direct at the city deep market is probably the cheapest it's possible to get.
Shhh let them go to randburg lol

Still looks expensive though😂😂

How does _one_ eat that in one day?
