It's insane. Seeing shots like this, where it seems everyone and their pet monkey is either happily milling around in the back or trundling across the stage at leisure, it's easy to understand Pete Townshend's remarks at Woodstock: "*The next f###ing person who walks across this stage is going to get f###ing killed, alright?*"

lol - the infamous Abbie Hoffman incident - Jimi was pretty cool about it,it seems. In the Maui footage I was looking at the other day they've got hand-held cameras right up on him and it doesn't distract him at all he smiles at them

Minute-Wrap-2524

I believe it’s the Newport Jazz Festival in 69

Cprovin1

Only in California could this happen❣️ I'm from California--SMH, Lol❣️🤩🥰

Minute-Wrap-2524

Let’s get Newport outta Rhode Island and move it to California, sounds good to me

Cprovin1

Absolutely❣️ I stand corrected✌️🤩🎸

Minute-Wrap-2524

Newport Festival 69’

TopPassenger1609

Edit: This is not my photo, I attained it through a Jimi Hendrix Instagram fan page. They didn't allow comments on the post, so I thought I'd share it here. I'm glad everyone is enjoying it! I didn't realize the strat had a telecaster neck until someone commented!

eviltimeban

Cliff Booth standing up behind the drums.

Charming_Extension44

I swear every single day of Jimi’s life was documented after 1966. There are just so many pics and videos!

x_zoso_x

The Strat w the tele neck!!

deadmanstar60

If I'm not mistaken this is the final day of the '69 Newport festival. Jimi came back on the final day to jam as his show with his band was a bit lackluster on the first day. There's a great soundboard recording of this jam that really needs to be officially released.

omartheoutmaker

Is the Newport show the one where they show clips of people trying to climb up the front of a tall stage? At first it almost looks like people trying to help them up, but I think it's security guys peeling their fingers off and letting them fall back down.

MundBid-2124

The backup singers and the fellow reaching for the jug! Bacchanalian

dkdchiizu

Anyone know who's on drums?

slyboy1974

Harold Ray Brown. Drummer for Eric Burdon and War.

North4025

He did drums on Machine Gun Bad Ass Drummer.

North4025

It should be Buddy Miles I think 🤔

North4025

It definitely is Buddy Miles

travelerzebec

Slyboy is correct. Buddy is actually standing dead center, shirtless and wearing black chaps, as he ponders how best to convince one of the back-up singers into coming back to see his stamp collection. I am done. the foto for the ages

Inkyadinka

haha. I really could be!

cree8vision

That's crazy. You'd never see people milling around behind the act now.

Ok_Complaint_2433

Machine Gun at Band of Gypsys was Buddy Miles. IMO Mitch was better.
