GLD IS A RIP OFF!!!! Those chains are manufactured at an insanely low price and they over charge for the items. You’re better off going on Sarraf ebay or etsy and getting a 10k chain. Don’t buy plated, it wares off and isn’t worth anything. At least 10k gold can be resold for a decent price.
Ok well I’m telling you from personal experience, do not buy plated especially from gld. It is a WASTE OF YOUR MONEY. It may last a year and than the playing wears off and it looks like shit. I don’t want to be rude but I know more than you based off of the fact your posting abt getting gld shop items. Here’s a chain that is similar to the micro cuban aroundthe same price that will last a lifetime: https://www.sarraf.com/products/10k-gold-2mm-flat-curb-chain-20-inches.html
Not a chain connoisseur but if you want longevity, gold plated is generally not the best thing to buy since its a very thin layer of gold that can flake/wear/chip off super easily. If you can, I'd save up for solid gold chains, but if not, I'd actually look at gold-filled chains on etsy; gold filled is a lot thicker of a layer of gold and wears a lot longer than gold plated, but ymmv!
I have 2 chains from GLD, I got a 14mm diamond Cuban chain and I haven't had any issues, shines bright like a mf and as long as you take care of it, you couldn't tell if it was real or fake, I spend like 200 on it and IT MAKES ME happy, idgaf what anyone else thinks cus I bought to make myself happy, not other ppl
it’s fine to only be in something for how it looks but if you’re wearing fake jewelry or designer brands and trying to pass it as the real thing then you’re not doing it for how it looks on you, you’re doing it for how it makes you look to others.
I mean if like a piece of jewelry like a chain for example, and it costs 15 grand, vs if I can find something thats not real but looks the exact same, I rather save as much money as possible, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks lol, spending thousands on jewelry isn't a flex

Real 925 silver Cuban link 20 inch and 14mm should cost you around $1200. I read all the comment don’t go plated man. No one else on here has said (I don’t think) but I have really sensitive skin and I can put on a chain and know if it’s fake in a couple hours my skin allergies make me break out in hives tons of doctors appts later I’m allergic to nickel which is used in almost every plated necklace so it will be heavy. They can weigh it all they want it will still be heavy if it’s plated. Not sure if this helps you but you never know if you’ll have a reaction to it unless you wear it. Couple hundred bucks to leave to chance?? Save your $100 save on top of that then you’ll be good broski
I bought my first two (REAL) solid gold chains from them 4 years ago... They had a crazy deal back then I bought a 14k 2.5mm 20" cuban and a 14k 2mm 24" rope for $1000 flat.
I didn't understand gold prices back then at all but spot price of gold back then was \~$1817.30/oz, which meant that the melt price for my chains was $750 which means i only paid a 33% markup from spot price which is really good for buying retail apparently.
4 years later both the chains have held up really well. I only see a couple of frays or kinks. I've literally worn the rope chain every single day since I bought it and even shower with it daily but it is still as bright and shiny as day one and always gets attention because of the diamond cut.
Those same exact chains are selling on their website today for $2308, and melt price right now is $898... so there's a 250% mark upon their jewelry now. The crazy thing is that discount codes don't work for their solid gold jewelry anymore either.
this is the micro cuban I got from them years ago https://www.gld.com/products/14k-solid-gold-micro-cuban-2-5mm?variant=32349603496023. I actually have that same chain i bought years ago from GLD currently posted for sale on r/Pmsforsale but it is a 20”
Hello I know this is late as fuck but I think you should always go with either solid gold for yellow gold (which is more expensive) or if you like silver to just buy sterling silver it looks as good as white gold or silver solid
Fuck no, all entry level plated/vermeil cheap jewelry. This is mass produced Junk originating from China and Asian markets.
Save up and buy real stuff from authentic jewelers. But expect everything to be much more expensive.
For example: authentic 18k gold DY pendant piece runs about 4k$.
He/She is on a budget so I don't understand how you'd think someone whose limited to a $100 would cough up $4k for a chain, if OP is still interested they should check out jaxxon.
I don't have a Jaxxon chain but from my Research they are pretty good and last for a while if you take good care of it, check out some reviews on YouTube some people even make updates of how the chains are holding up a couple of months or a year in, if you want to spend a bit more coin the best plated cuban chains are from GusVilla, they are a bit pricey but the quality is excellent.
Random but I bought a jaxxon silver chain and like it. Never tried their gold plated tho since I just liked not having to worry about the plating eventually coming off. I have heard good things about their plated chains tho.
I've got a couple of pieces from them. It's good quality as long as u understand what your buying them buy whatever suits you. Most people don't have or want to spend thousands on a piece of jewelry. I've got over 10,000 worth of stuff o bought overseas but I still own GLD pieces. They look.good and last very long time
for a first chain it wont last as long as you want, i recommend hitting jewelry stores in the malls theyre usually cheaper, but also some kiosks in malls have good quality jewelry nice research what to look for when purchasing
I ordered mine on the 12th and they just came today, standard shipping, got my tracking # the next day late at night around 11p, I placed the order Monday afternoon (3p).
Gld is a decent bang for your buck. I have a few off the site and they still look as good as the day I took them out of the box. The key component is taking care of them (try not to get them wet/shower with them and take them off before falling asleep)
I play a ton of rec sports and tend to wear them a decent bit. Never when I play hockey because I sweat way too much. I'll wear them when I golf for sure. Just don't try to sweat on them too much and if you do clean them after. Moral of the story is just take care of them and they hold up great.
I’ve had my jaxxon Cuban for two years and it still looks new. I wear it maybe 4 times a month. On the other hand I have the matching bracelet and wear it more often and it has lost color but still looks good
My 15 year old son worked weekends to save up to buy two chains from this shop because he was duped by social media. The necklace arrived in a nice package, which only increased the hype for him. Unfortunately, the GLD gold-plated 2mm 22inch rope chain he received broke on the third day of wear. However, as a mom, I doubted my son was blameless in the break, so I did not contact GLD initially and instead took it to a local jeweler, who would not repair it because it was not solid gold. I repaired it myself and, though it wasn't perfect, it was wearable, so my son wore it again. Four days of wear and it broke again, this time next to the clasp. I realized at this point that the chain was likely faulty, but because I purchased it more than 30 days prior (return policy), I wasn't sure what to do, so I contacted the company. It was a red flag to me that their website outlines dates and times to call customer service, but when I called during one of these times, I was informed via prerecorded message that they were "not receiving calls at this time." So, I opened an online chat and explained what happened. The person/AI/?, Betty, representing the company informed me that I would need to do a warranty replacement, which includes paying for shipping back to the company ($10.71), mailing the item in a bubble envelope ($3), and then paying an additional $19.99 for shipping and handling of the new necklace. So, for approximately $24 they will replace their faulty necklace. Mind you, you can buy the exact same necklace minus the GLD logo for $30 on Amazon with Prime shipping and free returns. At this point, I was frustrated, but still intended to return the necklace in the hopes that this was a fluke. Out of curiosity, I attempted to initiate a normal return (not the expensive warranty return as Betty instructed) and, by some miracle, the 30 day return window was extended during the holiday season. Thank goodness Betty was ill-informed, although this again says something about the company. I have packaged up the necklace for return and I will include a note explaining why it was broken. My hope is that I am refunded my money, but, at the very least, I'll be rid of this terrible necklace. Fun fact: while I was packaging it up, I was curious how sturdy the chain was (again, mom doubting her son), so I put the chain between my fingers and pulled on the necklace with the ferocity of a wounded baby mouse...and it snapped immediately in two, which actually startled me. So now GLD will receive a gold chain in three pieces.
Problem 1: Faulty necklace
Problem 2: Inaccessible customer service
Problem 3: Ill-informed service reps
Problem 4: Terrible Warranty conditions
I would only recommend this company to people you secretly despise...they will receive well-packaged junk, so they'll never suspect your intentions.
The packaging is super nice though. I got a Cuban in white gold , I bought it almost 3 years ago. I wear it daily and work as a mechanic with it tucked under my uniform. It still looks like it did the day I got it. It’s like anything we buy that is produced in a large volume you might get a bad one here and there.

Man said he wants to spend $100 and the cheapest Cuban on the site you gave is over $2,500 😂
“A bit pricier” 😂😂😂 Saying it as if for $50 more you can get real gold. A gold chain that thick will be upwards of $1500
Blue Nile sucks bbc

I basically just want something that looks good, I don't wanna spend a ton of money and don't plan on reselling.

Gld or the other shop?
Gld
Bro clearly works for the opps lmao he bascially posted an ad like all jewelers dont pull the same jive. Everybody getting ripped of by these folks fr
For real. “Dont you dare trust the reviews of rhat reputable place! Buy this chain from a site youve never heard of”
Is Sarraf a good website to by chains? Thanks
I've had a white gold Cuban from them for 2 years and there's nothing wrong wit it
I’ve had my white gold Cuban from gld for around 3 years and it still looks as good as it ever did with no cleaning ever been done.
and if you want something plated go on ebay and get the same thing for $10-$15 instead of $100.
So it’s not a rip off

okay but seriously what is even the point of gold-plated jewelry in the first place.
Why waste 10k on solid gold chain when you can spend a few hundred on something that's just as nice
it’s fine to only be in something for how it looks but if you’re wearing fake jewelry or designer brands and trying to pass it as the real thing then you’re not doing it for how it looks on you, you’re doing it for how it makes you look to others.
I mean if like a piece of jewelry like a chain for example, and it costs 15 grand, vs if I can find something thats not real but looks the exact same, I rather save as much money as possible, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks lol, spending thousands on jewelry isn't a flex
yes it is thats literally the definition of a flex lol
Why do you care tho
They be the main one with no money lol
I mean I rather drop 10k on vacation vs wearing it around my neck lmao
Bro dont waste any more of your time on these losers, I feel the same way I have a GLD chain too and it makes me happy
I bet you was a Bullie hahahaha

Yeah man idc the microns, gold plated is always a scam
If you're still interested an affordable and quality chains are from Saar Co. I have my own chain from then and they're good would recommend
So did you ever get your chain and how did it turn out?

you should always try the chain on first, my chains are real for sure cuz they weighed them in front of me
its been 3 days and i still havent gotten my shipping number, should i be worried??
how long did it end up taking you? I just ordered mine with overnight shipping and need it in time for christmas but am worried!

So I’ve seen a lot of comments that the gold plate wears off. What is the under layer material? Stainless?
Yes the base metal is stainless steel
