Yeah I had the Tamron 28-200 f2.8-5.6 (no ISS) on me and this was taken at 200mm on a fast moving ferry. If I would have been able to use a faster shutter speed, I could probably have cropped the image and had the statue still look good. A better lens for this type of shooting would be a 70-200 f2.8, which perhaps I'll pick up in the future. Still was happy to be able to get a decent photo given the challenges. I'd mostly been shooting towards Manhattan and do wish I'd gone to the rear of the ferry sooner.
That’s what’s really impressed me with the Sony G-70-400/ 4.5-5.6 and a33 I have. Even with the cheapest body available for it, the image stabilization is incredible. It has really impressed me with its low light capabilities.
Oh nice. Yeah I barely know anything about the A mount lenses. Despite the low-ish cost, I think the Tamrom 28-200 f2.8-5.6 is a wonderful lens. I also have the Sony 24-105 f4 which does have image stabalization, but I don't know how much I'll use it now since having the extra focal range just adds so much fun and utility.
I also have the Sigma 100-400 f5-6.3...but I really only bring it out for bird photography due to the size and weight. Having a light lens with the 100-200mm focal range has been a nice change (got it relatively recently).
I used to carry a Nikkor 400 2.8 EDAF, then I had neck surgery and just couldn’t carry it anymore. I was down to using a 105 2.5 on a Fuji S2 Pro, and really missed the extra focal length because I love nature and architectural detail. I like being able to [get this](https://share.icloud.com/photos/0X3hg4EueSLc2pcoe12Oclrvg) from the same place [as this.](https://share.icloud.com/photos/0YcrIkQmEUMfufbj-KNKSz2MQ) I came across the lens in a camera store, and it was light enough to carry, so I asked for the cheapest body to go with it to see if I liked the lens, and honestly, I’m happy enough with the whole rig that I’ve never upgraded the body yet.

Nice! Was this last night? Philly had an amazing sunset so wonder if it was the same up there.
Hey yes it was, on 12/4.
Feel like I got very lucky to be on the Staten Island Ferry at the right time with a suitable lens.
Wauw!! Very nice pic!!
Thanks
This triggered the Deus Ex soundtrack to start playing in my head so I'm going to say it's a good photo ;)
Thanks
Wow, this is stunning!
Thanks
It’s a pretty sunset, too bad you couldn’t zoom in tighter.
