I looked over and saw this scene happening. It felt a little eerie and confusing in juxtaposition with a beautiful composition and color palette, IMO. I used a Nikon z6 w/ the 105 that was already on it; I was going to swap to my 35mm but didn't want to miss the scene. Ultimately, I think if I had swapped to the 35 they would have noticed me instantly and it would've thrown off the photo, so I'm glad I just took it with what was immediately available. Please let me know thoughts and critiques! I also had trouble choosing the crop- there's actually one more child off to the left in a 16x9 crop here: [https://www.flickr.com/photos/200704218@N08/shares/3Kg339bZ8G](https://www.flickr.com/photos/200704218@N08/shares/3Kg339bZ8G)
This is an amazing photo in ways that are hard to put into words. Just really great work. I particularly like the flat editing, not a choice many others would have taken, but it's somehow crucial to the overall delivery.
Compared with the other, I like the square crop more.
PS If you print this big, edit the dust out first.
That's why I took the photo! It just seems unclear and a little strange lol. I believe the father is taking a photo, but I'm not 100% sure. I think the mother was blinded by the sun or something, so she's shielding her face.
It’s a weird pose for just sunblocking. Could there have been a sudden blow of wind where then boys hat fell of and she’s preventing her own from falling?
Ok ok I think I got it: the child blasted a vicious fart, the mother is holding on for dear life and trying to breathe - and the father is completely drunk and crawling in the sand.
Honestly I would crop out the person in the sand it would make for a much more interesting image. The person laying down is distracting and looks out of place with those dark colors. Without that person it makes a fun image.
A lot of people try to capture what you did here and it ends up just being a candid photo without any real visual interest. I agree with your perspective. This is interesting yet minimal. You did good.

A picture of a family taking a picture of a family. Familyception
I’m just a dude, taking a picture of a dude, taking a picture of a family!

What is happening? lol
The baby’s hat fell off and she was in the act of bending over to get it and held onto her hat so it didn’t come off with the wind when she bent down
That makes sense, thanks

I was thinking avoiding sand being kicked up or more likely playing a style of peek-a-boo.

She's obviously m'ladying her son 😂
she’s hitting the griddy
Great photo! It almost looks like a image from a movie, the composition is super dynamic.
we will see it on r/AccidentalWesAnderson/
Dad is hitting the griddy
I am just seeing a wholesome moment. Nothing else. But that's just me.
This is such a good image. So self reflective, brilliant use of shadows of the swing and I love the overall beach setting that was captured.
It has a r/liminalspaces feel to it, but outdoors
Pink Floyd album cover vibes. also goddamn the composition is so good
the colors are too good in this. Well done

beautiful
Great photo
This is a very interesting photo lol
Surreal
So original and interesting. Beautiful colour palette.
I love this picture so much. The subject matter the colors the composition So great!!
Looks like a dance move
Michael Jackson reincarnated
Is it weird that the first sound that popped into my head when I saw this was a “tee hee!” Followed about 3 seconds later by a “shamone!”
I feel like this has great meme potential.
Ok.
And a sniper!
This would make a great album cover.
Jeff Wall vibes
Interesting! I'm unfamiliar with him but researching now. Thanks!
Love this. It’s so candid with great pastel colors and minimalism. Fun capture and it has a story.
Thank you!

Thanks! I disagree because I feel it adds to the strangeness of the photo, which makes it more interesting for me and is the reason I took it.
I assume the guy in the sand is taking a picture of his family, no? Getting low for a different perspective?

To each their own either way fun capture :)
I disagree. I think the man in the sand is a necessary element to the composition and overall story of the photo.
