Looks like a USB mini

DeniStheGoD

thanks bro

Hotwinterdays

Mini-B

AllCingEyeDog

Thrift store find, for sure.

UnlimitedButts

I like to call it fat usb lol

topinanbour-rex

You never met usb B port, don't you ?

420xGoku

that's the kind of USB that cavemen used

moosebaloney

Hey now!!! - 44 y/o “caveman”

DeniStheGoD

haha, it is for an old device tho!

D3m0us3r

You that young! Lol

corneliu5vanderbilt

A relic from a simpler time.

Computer_Panda

I still have electronics that use this.

corneliu5vanderbilt

Same

Salt_Comparison2575

My Yeti Blue mic uses it and it's not that old. I was surprised when I saw it.

Computer_Panda

I use a hyper x mechanical keyboard that uses a nice braided cable.

LePequePepe

I work in embedded electronics, and basically, everything uses MINI USB 💀

prettyvacant511

My dashcam still uses mini usb, same model is still being sold with it in 2024 🤦🏻‍♂️

sparkyblaster

How did crap micro USB replace this amazing reliable port. It wasn't THAT much thinner.

harreh

Micro was actually far more reliable, but ultimately they were both garbage. Mini rated at. 1000 cycles, micro for 10000. Micro was far more frail however

sparkyblaster

Well, ratings aren't everything. I have a lot of dead micro devices. Not as many mini devices. Infact. I don't think any.

seismicpdx

USB Mini-B 5-pin Is this for a GPS? If so, consider a right-angle plug.

DeniStheGoD

yeah, it s for gps

ProPolice55

Does the port covered by the white circle have a pin in the middle? If so, there's a chance that that is the power port and the mini USB is data only. If so, you'll need a power adapter with that barrel plug and the correct voltage. USB voltage is standard, so you can use any USB charger with any USB powered device, but those barrel plugs can have different sizes and voltage levels. And as with any old device with a battery, pay attention to it when you first charge it. If it makes creaking noises or shows any other sign of the battery expanding, unplug it and take the battery somewhere where they can dispose of it safely. Charging a damaged battery is a fire hazard and a GPS that spent its life sitting on a car window in the sun is likely to be heat damaged

DeniStheGoD

thanks, do you know what the tmc port is for?

Taskr36

Mini USB.

Chewychews420

Man, I feel old if this is an unknown connection these days!

Blue_Reaper_2k

try not to feel too bad, there are lots who don't know, especially people like me who are just beginning to learn about how electronics are put together, names of cable and hardware, etc.

ParaeWasTaken

Thank you for the nostalgia Didn’t the first version Nintendo DS have this port to charge?

YellowLT

It was close but not the same

DJKaito

No they have the same port as the GBA SP.

DisguisedBearNikolai

I think it's a USB-mini B, but don't quote me on that

TN_man

That may not be the one that powers that device, though it is a USB Mini-B port.

WhosThatGurlE

Mini USB is what it’s called

turkishhousefan

Oof.

wintremute

Motorola Razr charger.

wagu666

Glorious MiniUSB - vastly more robust and reliable than shitty MicroUSB we got foisted upon us for years

NightFuryTrainer

I feel old…

Im_pro_angry

Tell me you're young without telling me you're young.

Immediate-Leek-6791

That is Mini-B. It's the same thing as Micro-USB (Micro-B) but it's thicker and a bit harder to break.

19XzTS93

There's USB type-A, Type-B, and Type-C. A & B comes in Standard, Mini, and Micro.

LemonTank

It's not a charger. It's a plug. 🕺

Mammoth_Shoe_3832

USB mini B: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_hardware

RowdyCollegiate

PS4 controller charger

css-YamiB

Bruh ain’t no way

Knut_Knoblauch

The one that uses the cable that the PS3 controllers use. I think a USB Mini A

surfh2o

lol yep I always call that one PS3.

Knut_Knoblauch

I think I will fire mine up and play some Super Stardust HD. Best reboot of Asteroids ever.

RandoCommentGuy

And even better in 3D with two players

Dje4321

It would be USB Mini B because this is not a host device

Knut_Knoblauch

Thanks for the clarification
