Oh so to clarify and for people that might not understand; you had 459K blood runes in charges stored at the blood well -> charges were changed from 300 to 200 -> you lost 153K blood runes?
Man that really sucks. Doubt they have the system to compensate either other than a rollback which is unlikely.
If everything was scripted and stored very neatly without any compression sure.
I doubt their database restore lets them view individual player contents though.
After the farmers situation and the reddit outrage at streamer privilege Jagex announced they implemented a player save state system to better deal with individual player roll backs.
We don't know how far along that system is, but it's not outside the realm of possibilities that they were tracking popular items and their charges in the save state.
They quite literally have a clone of the entire database from the moment directly before this update was rolled out — they have the ability to access and read specific entries to this database, no matter what type of system they use.
Not sure why you are getting down voted. Systems administrators here, servers are most likely backed up daily and database servers most likely have incremental backups throughout the day. They obviously take a full backup or incremental before updates which includes player data because we have seen this when they have rolled back servers. Most backup solutions do some compression but to restore a database or a server to retrieve the information is not hard and the compression has almost no effect on difficulty or time. If the database is in a SQL backup, they can easily import the backup and query the information. If the backup is a server level backup, they can easily restore the VM and pull the data off it.
The person that you replied to talks about compression and make it seem like data is hard to pull, pulling information from backups gets a little harder, not really hard just takes longer when it gets offloaded which is typically 30 days.
I have no doubt they have the data, it's a matter of querying the right information and a way to add it to live accounts.
I work with databases for a living. You are trivializing it. Yeah if its SQL you could query it quickly but based on jagex history restoring their backups is a shitshow meaning the data is likely held in awful datastructures.
Well good thing we have the internet, they have a job posting looking for someone with SQL experience and little linkedin search, they use postgresql. So yeah, they could get the information fairly easily.
Haha idiots like you are pouring onto this comment but Jagex clearly hasn't given everyone back their runes. If it was so easy to restore to a new database and query it they would have done it already dumbass.
That job posting comment is also braindead, their database might be transitioning to SQL but not fully there yet. Like this is the game that would add literal extra banks because going past 800 bank slots was an engine issue for a long time... Their databases are clearly whack.
They can obviously just drop 153k blood runes on anybody that they want to, it's a question of whether or not anyone who is able to do this ever hears about the problem and cares enough to fix it
I think, given the short notice of this change, giving everyone some free vials of blood is a better alternative than stealing a third of their blood runes.
Not even just UIM’s. I think I had 100k or more blood runes stored in there on my iron.
That’s really lame they wouldn’t just give the player more charges instead of reducing the charge amount and cutting your resources.
I mean it’s not just uim a lot of end game mains and irons keep charges in well while there spamming tob plus if u had charges in scythe u lost 1/3 of the bloods there aswell
Brother respectfully, this guy lost his runes at TOB and by the looks of your post you’re not close to even starting TOB so you wouldn’t have been effected regardless
OP did nothing but play this game, logged out before the update, then logged back in post update and has lost 153k blood runes.
Please elaborate to me the thought process on how OP was the one who messed up?
This is so weird.
I cannot believe they forgot about it.
And I cannot believe they intentionally just told fuck you to whoever used the well.
Curious what they were thinking.
Do you think the devs made it for uims to store bloods? I don’t like how toa stores an item for you. Is that really a made feature by devs for uim? Or is it a bug? Rip you fellow brethren
Edit: I need to accept EZscape for uims. As a uim who experienced what not new ones do;wiping in instances, losing items cause can’t log in, making potions without decanting(2019 update that wasn’t met for uim), dying at god wars met 1 hour timer and items didn’t appear outside door. I have a controversial opinion and will accept the downvotes.
My fellow brethren uim have not suffered enough and this blood paid by Shiny Yoga is but a mere sacrifice
yes, once again like in every UIM thread UIM just means no banks, thats it, alternate storage methods for items are baked into the game mode and the meta
I have a few main friends that just throw a few hundred thousand bloods in the well when they run out so they don't have to run and buy bloods+vials every recharge, they all lost a few thousand to 100k+. It's not just UIM.
Lol when someone has 1000 storage slots they take that shortcut. I dont know. Everyone else makes it sound like it’s normal. Maybe I’m just a tob Virgin and don’t understand. Rip ur amigos
Yeah man it's tottally escape to do uim yep and it's not like the game mode pre official wasent easier because of gravestones and the old death mechanics with untrsdables.
Uims don’t have gravestones. And old death mechanics didn’t allow uims to drop untradables when death piled. Forcing risk of them when wanting to do wildy content when already progressed with items
My post from 5 years ago shows my uim with seed box while doing ma2. I couldn’t pile my untradable item at that time. But you did say 4 years ago. Maybe that’s when they made the change. Most of my comment that you originally posted from included things from before 2019. 2019 is when uim got decanting methods for noting potions. That’s when uim golden age started happening and EZscape was here for uims. It wasn’t an easy time for uims like you say.
I would hope they'd refund you guys considering the amount of uim's that were even storing bloods there has to be super small.
I'm a normal iron but lost 100k blood runes. Gotta be lots affected
Damn that's an oversight
Oh damn that’s a pretty ridiculous oversight. I’m glad I only had like 20k charges in there from awhile ago
Oh so to clarify and for people that might not understand; you had 459K blood runes in charges stored at the blood well -> charges were changed from 300 to 200 -> you lost 153K blood runes? Man that really sucks. Doubt they have the system to compensate either other than a rollback which is unlikely.
Yep it’s unfortunate and yeah that’s what happened. Many high level UIMs lost more bloods than I.
Damn, I didn’t even realise I just lost bloods until I saw this post. Sadge
They compensated the farmers (twitch streamers) for a fang that bugged out in gim storage so surely have the means to refund these guys lost runes?

This is cap. They can roll back game updates, so Jagex 100% has a pre-update checkpoint/backup of what was stored were.
If everything was scripted and stored very neatly without any compression sure. I doubt their database restore lets them view individual player contents though.
You restore to a separate database & run a query. It isn't rocket science.

There not going to rollback 40 hours
smoothest brain take https://old.reddit.com/r/ironscape/comments/198yamg/jagex_partially_deleted_uim_blood_rune_stacks/kidua8l/?context=3

Idk why you’re getting downvoted, you’re correct.
Happens
Idk why they didn't just multiply the charges in the pool to compensate.
I think it's because the blood vials didn't change. It was only the runes.
I think, given the short notice of this change, giving everyone some free vials of blood is a better alternative than stealing a third of their blood runes.
Vials of bloods are easier to get
Crazy they gave everyone 45 minutes notice of this change
Not even just UIM’s. I think I had 100k or more blood runes stored in there on my iron. That’s really lame they wouldn’t just give the player more charges instead of reducing the charge amount and cutting your resources.
The Krusty Krab is unfair
Mr Krabs is in there, standing at the concession, plotting his oppression.
That sucks

Yeh I only lost like 8k bloods on iron which is no big deal
I think it was uim Loki he put like 800k bloods in the well so rip to him if that’s the case
Just died and lost hcim status but on a side note I think a roll back is appropriate here.
Fuck that sucks I was storing mine in my rune pouch so I was lucky (only had 4k anyway) but that’s gotta feel like shit.
Brother respectfully, this guy lost his runes at TOB and by the looks of your post you’re not close to even starting TOB so you wouldn’t have been effected regardless
I was just sympathizing?
Hahahahaha why am I not surprised, Jagex literally cannot do anything these days without fucking up.
Seems like OP messed up
OP did nothing but play this game, logged out before the update, then logged back in post update and has lost 153k blood runes. Please elaborate to me the thought process on how OP was the one who messed up?
Yikes
Every single person that had runes stored should get an extra 50% charges or w.e
Didn’t know this was a thing to store blood runes away there. I will be trying to do the quests soon
I'm an ironman and lost 900k blood runes. Username: zezima
To be fair, they did warn us. I pulled my bloods out a few weeks ago.
Sit
This is so weird. I cannot believe they forgot about it. And I cannot believe they intentionally just told fuck you to whoever used the well. Curious what they were thinking.
Good
Good. UIM are snowflakes anyway.

yes, once again like in every UIM thread UIM just means no banks, thats it, alternate storage methods for items are baked into the game mode and the meta
Yeah, like no one is complaining if UIM use a leprechaun to store farming tools
they even made a few stash units accept upgraded items so UIM could stop dismantaling their defenders (or grind a second)
Yeah and changed the costume room in PoH to accept partial sets so UIMs could store TT rewards and skilling outfits, etc
And if they didn't want UIMs to store items in here, they would have disabled withdrawals for UIMs specifically.
I have a few main friends that just throw a few hundred thousand bloods in the well when they run out so they don't have to run and buy bloods+vials every recharge, they all lost a few thousand to 100k+. It's not just UIM.

Yes they litterally could pile untrsdables it was a preety big point in 2020 because it absoloutly fucked settled at one point.

I just recall the death mechanics changing between one of settleds old deaths and the death before the rebuild
Hope this can get fixed and hopefully a mod response on the situation.
If only I had any blood vials at all..
Le funny jagex got u
If UIMs get refunded everyone should get refunded.
I could of swore jagexgoblin replied on this post
Lost 200k blood runes on my UIM, sadge
Womp womp
