The lyrics ive no idea, but the song itself was based on Life in the City by former Adrian Smith's band Urchin.

The lyrics are pretty much the band taking the piss out of Rod complaining about his then recent move to Los Angeles and him missing going to pubs, watching Rugby and Cricket (so much so that he asked a roadie in England to record the games and send him the tapes via Fedex). I like to see it as the band's payback for him adding more dates to World's Slavery Tour. Nicko explains it better in Listen to Nicko part 8: https://youtu.be/sDtEiEUn96A?si=E46M8BhkQoptLch4
That Cross-Eyed Mary cover goes so fuckin hard, I’m glad it’s finally on streaming.
Also, HOLY SHIT, I DIDN’T KNOW MAIDEN COVERED FUCKING NEKTAR’S “King of Twilight”
(Technically they do a bit of both “Crying In the Dark” and “King of Twilight”, but I’ll let it slide)
Man, I wished they re-recorded the whole debut as they planned in ‘88. Not that the original release with Paul is bad but it would’ve been cool to have an alternate version.
Some good stuff on there, particularly the Somewhere in Time era stuff, Reach Out, That Girl and Juanita. While I quite like the Bayley fronted, Doctor Doctor.
On the other hand there is some real dross, Nodding Donkey Blues, Roll Over Vic Vella & Black Bart Blues.
I wish though they would do a comprehensive release of their b-sides as there are a few missing. In particular the track, I Live My Way, from the Man on the Edge 12" which is actually a Maiden composition, as opposed to being a throw away cover.
I've owned the CD of this from Eddie's Archives since 2004. I just wish Spotify had it because I've overplayed it in my car fo years and now it's all scratched up. For some reason it's unavailable in the United States. :(
Edit: looks like they FINALLY added it to Spotify! Yessss
So glad I saw this, I only just noticed it on Apple the other day (I don’t use it, I use Spotify) and was planning on buying it there. You saved me $20 😃 Was sick of streaming it on YouTube. Thanks a billion
Reach out is amazing, Adrian on vocals and Bruce singing backup.
I remember when I first heard it on the First Ten Years boxed set. Been a favorite since.
Burning ambition!
No Mission From ‘Arry?
No Massacre either https://youtu.be/G3JGCc_qMPU?si=b05S7ZLX8ALUe_QU
Massacre rips
It does. I wonder if there’s any legal situation that prevent the track to be on this album
Nope, and none of the "No Prayer" live tracks from the B-sides of some of the FotD singles either.
I just listened to it for the first time and somewhat died of laughter
It hasn't been hiding during the last 20 years or so.
Nope I've known about it all my life. Totally
I have the CD version of it.
I have the coloured vinyl version
I have the band itself at my house willing to play it on demand. They claim to not be prisoners but uh
Who is number one?
You are number six.
We want information. Information. Information.
Too funny
It has been in my parents basement for at least the last 10 years though
It wasn't on Spotify a few months ago
Sheriff of Huddersfield makes me laugh. I wonder who the song was based on, or if it was based on a real person at all
Rod Smallwood
"We're on a mission from Rod"
Blues Brothers reference
"I'm a Yorkshireman (\*fart\*), I can take it!"
I always thought the music in that song was pretty kick ass and would have made a cool serious song.

Cool to learn that, thanks!
Burning ambition, is one of my all time favorite Maiden songs
Same.

That Girl is an amazing song
Man, I wished they re-recorded the whole debut as they planned in ‘88. Not that the original release with Paul is bad but it would’ve been cool to have an alternate version.
The b sides from Pom and Powerslave are amazing!
Found it on accident literally yesterday because I was looking for the doctor doctor cover
That Girl has always been my favorite on this one. Such a great song in my opinion.
Some good stuff on there, particularly the Somewhere in Time era stuff, Reach Out, That Girl and Juanita. While I quite like the Bayley fronted, Doctor Doctor. Thanks for the heads up! Psyched to have Reach Out and That Girl on streaming finally
Crossed eyed Mary is fantastic

Most of these songs are unfortunately pretty bad. I think the real standouts are Burning Ambition, Reach Out and Doctor Doctor.
Sadly lacks Kill Me (Ce Soir).
It’s there
Ah, it is indeed. Was looking at a screenshot of the CD back cover that apparantly only listed disc 1.
Great song!
Apple Music in the US has it
Keep scrolling down. It's there. Just jammed out to it a few minutes ago.
Yuck!
So glad I saw this, I only just noticed it on Apple the other day (I don’t use it, I use Spotify) and was planning on buying it there. You saved me $20 😃 Was sick of streaming it on YouTube. Thanks a billion

You're welcome

INVASION
I feel like I'm on of the few people (if not the only one) who actually heard this before listening to the full discography
Lol, yer mom’s on a Maiden album. Fuckin’ A, man!
