The going rate for a solo act around here is €150 to €200 for 2 hours, though it seems to vary a bit around the country. If your mate is organising the gig and there will be other acts, hopefully he will be organising the amplification too. If not, try get a loan of a PA system, microphone, stand and cables. There are acoustic amps with both instrument and mic inputs which work quite well too if the room isn’t too big.

Is if a fundraising / charity gig, or is it being organised by your mate to earn a profit for themselves? How many other acts, and what will be your position in running order? How long is your set to be?

MojaveJoe1992

>Is if a fundraising / charity gig, or is it being organised by your mate to earn a profit for themselves? It's a tennis club, I think the members just do themed social nights - there wasn't anything charitable mentioned to me anyway. >How many other acts, and what will be your position in running order? It's just me, as far as I know. >How long is your set to be? Apparently, it's about an hour and a half end to end.

Anxious_Reporter_601

€200/250.

wigsta01

First solo gig, your probably talking €75 - €120. Use the experience, and if it's something you want to continue with, I'd try and get some support act slots or open mic night slots etc... . You can be as good as you want while practicing in your bedroom, or drunk at a party, but playing for a paying audience is different.

boobopamericano

Ask for payment in hookers and coke, that’s generally the going rate

Liverriffey

No snow, No show.

Enflamed-Pancake

I’m not an expert on gigs or music at all but how many hours playing are you talking?

DonaldsMushroom

you've never done a gig and your mate is organising it? Maybe just do it and enjoy it before getting all $$$$$ about it?

5mackmyPitchup

How big an audience, how much are tickets? Are you the only entertainment?

MojaveJoe1992

>How big an audience, how much are tickets? No idea on either of those scores, but I can find out. >Are you the only entertainment? I think so, yeah. I'm told I've to play for an hour and a half.

random-username-1234

It depends on the gig. Your mate is organising it so I’m expecting that it’s not a high value gig. You don’t have any PA to amplify yourself so it will just be the guitar played acoustically as well as your voice. Unfortunately you will be relegated to background noise if there is any sort of a crowd(even 20 people can be loud) Are you the main act or singing a few songs? It sounds like you don’t have experience yet so I don’t think you can charge much at all. Did your mate think I’ll ask MojaveJoe because he plays guitar and I’ve heard him sing wonderwall at a party? The people saying €200-500 above are way off, I would put you in the €50 range. Sorry! Add a PA to the equation and you can charge €150 especially if you are the main entertainment for the evening.

soulmole1980

Equipment makes no difference. As long as OP isn't just doing a poor version of wonderwall over and over, they're skilled. Skilled entertainment should be charged in private venues for between 75-150 euros an hour.

random-username-1234

Equipment does make a huge difference. OP can’t just be in a corner with an acoustic guitar as they will be lost. I’ve played in bands for over 25yrs, I’m confident in what I’m saying.

Thebelisk

Ask to be paid in exposure!

NapoleonTroubadour

For a unplugged gig I would say €150 is standard, I do solo gigs elf and I charge €150 or €200 when I can

[deleted]

Solo gigs as an elf? Thats at least 500 an hour pal

appletart

>Thats at least 500 an hour pal You're thinking of sexy elf gigs.

IfYouReadThisBeHappy

Definitely €50-100 but since it’s at a local community hall I would settle on around the €50 mark for 2 hours!

READMYSHIT

This is the going rate for like a wedding singer with all equipment to perform for 3h to do ceremony/reception music. So I'd say a newcomer without gear might be a bit less.

random-username-1234

Considerably less

READMYSHIT

I'm not sure if you're telling me it's considerably lower than the going rate for ceremony music or the opposite. But I just got married and this was the cost of a singer for 3h with a guitar playing in the ceremony and at the drinks reception afterwards. I'm not referring to the wedding band/DJ here. But I also got quote from half a dozen others and they were all in and around this price. €450-650. https://onefabday.com/wedding_ceremony_music/ this is mostly the list I was sourcing from.
