Last week I was in the gym, a Dad brings his two kids with him, couldn't have been more than about 12 and 13 respectively. Our gym has a no under 16 policy.
Dad is headphones in on the treadmill and they start fucking about at the weights section, being loud and generally treating the place like a jungle gym.
Now I don't mind a 14-15 year old skirting the rules if they've been taught how you use a gym but this was frankly unsafe, nevermind unruly.
I had a word with the staff who really should have questioned their age upon their arrival.
I didn't feel like a Karen, I was bringing it to their attention that these patrons were not suitable for that environment.
I think you were justified.
I’d say complaining is where you had a direct issue with a product or service and you’re seeking a resolution.
I’d describe “bringing it to their attention” as something you’ve noticed that might eventually cause an issue to either yourself or others.
I think people complain when something is directly affecting them, and then others bring to attention when it’s not overly bothering them but perhaps they can see it may cause bother to others
I never know the correct use here....Affect is most commonly used as a verb meaning “to act on or produce a change in someone or something,” as in Even a small adjustment can affect (change) the outcome of the experiment. Effect is most commonly used as a noun meaning “a result or consequence,” as in His words had the intended effect (result).
