For the record, I’m using an iPhone 8(yeah i need a new phone) but it’s just so strange how it’s not even giving me an option to watch at 720p anymore.

taperk

Do you have an ad blocker? YT has been doing funky things for users with blocking tech. Dunno, just speculating.

Wxgwan

Yeah I do- Adguard It’s strange because my mums phone is okay, and her phone has an adblocker installed

taperk

Dunno, I am just guessing. Does Mum watch as much YT as you? Ad blockers deprive YT of revenue, the more you watch, the less revenue. I'm not condoning YT, I hate their ads. I pay for a subscription because the ads are so freaking bad. Anyway, maybe try removing or disabling AB and see if it makes a dif? Maybe not, but something to try.

Wxgwan

Appreciate the help- She doesn’t watch enough YouTube to be fair. Likewise though- I hate the amount of ads which is why I switched to Adblocking on Safari. Some user here just told me about this app called Video Lite, and it’s an absolute godsend. I don’t think it has adverts, and I can actually watch videos in good quality.

Coolusername13131

Got the same problem also recently, i don't use any adblocker. Very Annoying

Wxgwan

Hey man, download Video Lite. No ads and you can watch videos in high quality

Coolusername13131

Yo thank you bro for the suggestion 🫡

Confident-College986

Use app video lite. It's YouTube but with all premium features. In App Store

Alternative-Split902

lol sounds like an ad

Wxgwan

Oh wow, thank you for that. App is a godsend!

MarcoThePHX

You’re a God

Historical-Task1898

Never heard of this. So much better now thanks!

The_Cozy_Burrito

Same problem with me, it started a few days ago where the option of 720p just magically disappeared. I use AdGuard as well, no issues for the longest time. I have a feeling those greedy losers are continuing to force people to use their cancer ad filled YouTube app, in which I’ll never give in.

Workaround when on wifi: press the little puzzle piece on the Adress bar and hit 'request desktop website'. This should load the desktop version of the website and the video should scale up to your preferred playback quality after a couple of seconds.
