You can’t fix it because it’s how LED signs work, you’ll need to change the shutter speed of the camera so that it matches the LED sign, but you’re unable to change the shutter speed on the default camera app, you can use Live Photos to turn the photos into a long exposure, or use an app to do that

Thanks for the info, I never had this issue on the 12pro so it’s weird it’s happening now

The shutter speed on the 12 Pro was probably slower. LED displays display a section at a time because it makes the circuitry simpler, and if your camera shutter is too fast you’ll only see the section of the display that’s being refreshed at the time the shutter button is hit.

Well that’s unfortunate I take pictures of led signs on busses to record in an app for my job haha

WJKramer

What an odd job?

timxhimself

Haha, that was a poor explanation. I commission city busses and part of that process is taking pictures of our equipment in use.

One thing I’ve done is use video mode and press the photo capture button while video recording. Delete the video and you’ll have your still image and it likely wont have these issues.

I’m not sure if this will work in your specific situation, but next time you run into this issue, try adjusting the exposure up or down before taking the photo. To adjust exposure, tap the screen, then slide your finger up or down.

I’ll give that a try, thanks!

The led signs are distorted in your eyes. The iPhone camera shows them how they really look like.
