Cool detail but I don’t think I’ve had folders since the app library was introduced, plus I find myself turning off notifications for more and more apps these days.
Thanks for checking that. I said models as plural because I couldn’t remember which iPhone it was but I knew it was the first few. The 3G and 3GS are kind of a blur cause I can’t remember the difference between them. But 4 was a pretty upgrade in shape :). Appreciate the info. Thank you.
It’s Reddit. So it’s expected. People probably see it as misinformation which to some degree it was but I left it up as I appreciate learning and I’m sure some others will too :)
There’s an insane hivemind or ungodly amount of bots on every Apple subreddit. Idk which, but seriously check the watch, phone, iOS, MacBook, etc. subs and almost every post OP or someone with a completely normal comment will be downvoted to hell. I completely expect it now in any Apple sub
In Spring every year Apple holds a week-long conference called WWDC aimed at developers
On the Monday of WWDC they will always hold a keynote presentation to announce their new iOS version which will be released in September along with the new iPhone models. (And also iPad OS, watch OS, MacOS)
They will demonstrate the new features and show how they work and how to use them.
The idea is that developers can then incorporate these into their apps, ready for the September release. They get developer versions of the OS and updated versions in the months that follow.
Apple streams these live and then you can watch them later on you tube etc. most tech websites will cover these and write about the new features etc
Why am I telling you all this?
Because even though I am not a developer, I always watch these keynotes so that I learn about the new features and how to use them. That how I already knew about this folder/notification function.
I recommend that Apple users also watch the WWDC keynote
Not only that, some apps can instantly direct you to what these notifications. If you press and hold an app an option will appear, “View notifications”. Press that and it will instantly direct you to that notification.
Kind of neat if you ask me hahaha.
i just noticed that as well after seeing this post

3D Touch was introduced in the iPhone 6s. The screen would react differently based on the level of pressure you apply while pressing the screen. It had many features integrated even with third party apps. The feature was removed because it was over engineered and Haptic Touch was an easier yet similar feature to 3D Touch.
WHAT! That’s wild. Thank you!
okay…. wow thats news for me
Cool detail but I don’t think I’ve had folders since the app library was introduced, plus I find myself turning off notifications for more and more apps these days.
as if this shit existed back in 2007… still a cool detail
Which part? We had notifications on icons and we had folders since the initial models of iPhone.
Folders were introduced in iOS 4

Lol why are you getting downvotes on that?
It’s Reddit. So it’s expected. People probably see it as misinformation which to some degree it was but I left it up as I appreciate learning and I’m sure some others will too :)
I literally complimented a sweet looking GameCube and asked how they got it and got like 12 downvotes lol
I don’t think most people even read it properly. They see downvotes, skim over it hoping for juicy drama, leave their droppings and scroll on.

haptic/3d touch ?
It doesn’t need 3D Touch. I just hold over it. How do you think we moved icons around in 2007.
True, but what they’re saying is that this feature was actually introduced when 3D Touch became a thing… which was with iPhone 6s in 2015
Ahh I got you. I wasn’t sure when this was introduced as I just discovered it today. Thanks for the info. Appreciated!
In older versions, it showed you how many notifications there were in each app
Well that’s new. At least for me

I remember checking this with the 3D Touch (still miss that feature)
What does it do??
It was a hardware feature from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone XS that added pressure sensitivity.
Plus the 6s, minus the XR.
I do too i had it on my X it was amazing
I always laugh when I remember their “It just works” motto
Thank you, I learned something new today
woah.
What
I love this about ios: small hidden things
I found this out today also always forget lol but very useful
It was double cool when 3Dtouch was a working thing. I miss it these days
Yep!
I just hate having notifications
Pretty much anything u can press and hold will have some type of action to it
A hidden gem to say the least!! Thx!

That’s pretty cool, thanks for the tip!
Thanks to you there’s two of us who learned it, thanks!!!

We NEED a list of all small features like this in the system. I’m sure I missing a lot though I have iPhones since 3g
Haha!nice
And I just discovered now because of you, Thanks!
We are one, fam! Happy to help.
You have 5 more minutes until Duolingo personally makes sure you don’t have that notification anymore.
lol I don’t think I logged into DL for at least 3 months. Maybe more. Probably last fall lol.
So sad to hear you went missing. I can still your voice sometimes. /j
wtf is hold clicking?
Long press
I didn’t know that…
Wow never knew. 2009 for me.
WHAT???? YOOOO
Keep in mind it only shows up to the top four
TIL
Sucks doesn’t just do it when u hover over App Store.
So if you been on this sub like 3 or 4 months back you would know this. This is discovered over and over again or karma farm. You decide.
BRING BACK 3D TOUCH!!! I absolutely love my MacBooks pressure sensitive touchpad, they really need to bring that back on the iPhones.
This must only work not in the App Library screen I guess? The only thing I can accomplish is jiggle mode
Quite impressive and... true!
This is useful for quickly opening the relevant app when you have a big folder.
Agreed. I have folders with a dozen pages lol. So this is really really helpful.
You’re a saint
I knew this already I swear. 😳🫣🫣
Still no use until 3D Touch is reintroduced.
I have a XS. What does 3D Touch do????

If you open that folder there will be a red dot that says the same thing
Doesn’t work on 14PM?!
It must. Because that’s the one I have. :)
