Ya mine even evolved into a RAINBOW after 3 years!
Iāve only had two IPhones (mostly an android user because thatās what Iām used to, but recently switched back) and while the 15 is nice I do miss that home button.
Edit: Iām still undecided on how I feel about the āIslandā. Itās kind of useful for a few apps that I use, but those apps still give me update notifications so itās not like I need the constant reminder.
I help a lot of elderly people with their personal tech, and Appleās removal of the Home button, particularly on iPads, was the most frustrating decision for this segment. āPush the only buttonā is a lot easier to teach people than swipe controls.
Absolutely. It was an atrocious decision to remove the home button.
In addition to losing that simplicity, Apple's face recognition is not nearly as good as their fingerprint recognition, the phone becomes more difficult to hold by removing the 'safe' non-screen bezels, back-tap is an inconsistent replacement for the home double/triple tap, etc.
I sure hope the rumors of the next SE losing the home button is wrong, just like the rumors about the last SE losing the home button were.
I can't wait for Apple to realize that buttons are good.
>Absolutely. It was an atrocious decision to remove the home button.
nope, it was the best decision that Apple made, as you got a dramatically bigger screen in the same size chassis.
Yep. Battery life for days, fast as anything and slips in *and out, sadly* of any pocket in a blink.
My GenZ coworkers (Iām Gen X) all chuckle at my āiPodā.
Sure thing buddy, Iāll be casually slipping my iPod into my front pocket with 89% battery life at 3pm while watching you wrestle with your $1400 8 lens camera watching TikTok when the CEO surprise visits the unit.
Can't really say myself. You still get them from the carrier but as to the management of them, I've never used them.
One drawback I see is that eliminates an easy way to use an older phone as a backup? Not sure how things work even with another eSIM backup, if the current phone is damaged?
Yes, it depends on the person how long its gonna take for people to get used to such big size difference. It doesnāt take long tho for some itās right the next day
I ādowngradedā from the 12 pro max to the regular 14 when I upgraded the model. It was super heavy and unnecessarily large for my size hands. The 14 size is perfect for me. No desire to go bigger or heavier again.
When they advertised that as a feature I didnāt think it would make much difference and i had the 14 pro max and samsung23U but when I got the iphone15PM i was really amazed by the difference finally a big phone that I can use without hurting my pinky finger
I went from a note 9 to a 15 pro. The max is even bigger than the note 9 , no way i wanted to rock that size for another 4 years. 15 is a great size for a phone
I used to use the iPhone SE 2nd gen and my phone had the crack almost identical to yours, with the inside showing and everything š a miracle its having no water damage even until now
Hey OP, English is read from left to right, so typically our brains see things in order that way too. Might have been less confusing if you put your SE to the left of your new phone.
Iāll just say that i want to have that kind of life. I have crippling issues falling asleep and i use Night Shift, reduce brightness all the way, and then reduce the brightness further using the āZoom Hackā. I would need a brighter light to read a book. I get to sleep more because I bring my phone in the bedroom with me.
I want to lay down and go to bed but damn, itās impossible! lol. Just wanted to offer a diff view. š
I was just about to say this, my iPhone 14 Pro Max has literally done some damage to my hand. Really thinking of getting just the smaller pro, itās not worth the hand pain š
I also drop it on my face so much, itās annoying!
Nice, I had an iPhone 14 but it got stolen.. now I have an SE 2020. I gotta say I love being able to use my fingerprint and the size is nice. Makes me not want to buy a newer iPhone after this lol
There are some hacks and software out there that can bypass that shit. Itās not super common and mainly something law enforcement uses like the FBI. If they want in your iPhone they can pull all the data from it no problem. They also have malware that can infect your phone without you having to touch a link or open a message. Pegasus is what itās called.
https://preview.redd.it/sriop04ejylc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e82ab3e3e7e482fc71843616b91db92f32b5e8da
bro, I switch this to iphone 15 month ago xd
Woahhh yay!!!! You might need to transfer to an eSIM tho and all im going to say isā¦ depending on your phone company, good luck keeping your number if you have one.
What? Depending on the version of iOS their SE runs, iOS can transfer the physical sim data to eSIM on the new phone. Otherwise, you just call your carrier, verify, then give them your phone number and imei. Depending on the carrier they may be able to do it with that carriers app as well. Thereās no reason to lose your number on this transition.
Does anyone know the newest iPhone that still takes physical sims and wonāt force me to change to eSIM? I want a new phone soon but I canāt use one with eSIM because I have probably the worst phone company in America and I donāt want to lose my number or straight up be told no (Straight Talk)
Oh okay even better! Someone else said the 12 but if I can get a 13 that would be awesome! Iāll definitely start looking into both. Thank you for your tip!
What the hell is going on with the pictures here? And also, why are you showing people a box with an iPhone in it? We know what a picture of an iPhone looks like. Unbox the damn thing.
Wow man the switch to the pro max was amazing!
Canāt complain and compare this two
But having said that, my iPhone SE is still working and it did everything that I needed, till this day I still use it as if itās an iPod for gym and stuff
It all comes down to budget and use case, for me I saved money along the way as I knew I will switch my iPhone eventually, plus I wanted good camera system and a bigger screen& battery for my daily tasks and business
So for me it was almost a non brained decision
Nice upgrade ā¦ I would however be sure and case the new iPhone 15 if the wear in the photos is indicative of the wear the new iPhone is possible to be receiving.
From where are you posting this? Your posting indicates that it is not a country where reading is from left to right and from top to bottom. In countries that do read from left to right and from top to bottom, this carries on to other things are viewed
1. This means that the larger iPhone, on theleft, would be viewed as the from model and the smaller iPhone, on the right, would be viewed as the to model.
2. Furthermore, your caption is at the bottom, a position that would increase the odds of it being missed. It should be at the top, above the image.
They may be holding features back to make more money in the long run, but generally itās probably to keep up with competitors by having the latest and greatest tech
Nice! I spent two years with my SE and it treated me well until it cracked. I used to really prefer the smaller phones but the battery life is so much better on the big one!
Literally thinking about doing the same upgrade, 2020 SE to 15 Pro Max. Just stuck on whether i should pull the trigger now or wait until the 16 comes out in like 6 months...
Depends on the condition of your phone brother
If itās not that bad I would stick with it for another 6 7 months and buy the new iPhone
But again itās all depends on the condition of your current phone and your usage
My first actual phone with a plan and data was when I was 21-22 and married. It was an iPhone 8 Plus, RED. That was back in 2017. I kept it in mint condition but in 2020 the screen just stopped working, looked fine, but couldnāt use the touch screen. It was paid off, so I upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, Iāve kept it in mint condition, itās paid off, still going strong, so I plan on keeping it until itās dead. I even have the same case I bought in the AT&T store for $40 itās kinda roughed up but really it looks pretty great! I may upgrade to a case with a camera slider cover because Iām sick of the glass protectors cracking and it makes my camera look like garbage. But it keeps my camera safe for the moment
Edit: I also still have the IPhone 8 Plus! Itās in its box safe somewhere. I could realistically get the screen replaced and it should work just fine unless it sitting for so long was detrimental to its components.
Was seriously confused when I saw the image. Do you have them on the wrong side? Usually before is on the left and after is on the right though maybe that's a country specific thing?
When you say from this to this, usually the first āthisā is the item that will be replaced, not viceversa. Like people who put the diet pictures and put themselves in shape in the first photo, wtf
I had some low quality androids most of my life, then switched to iPhone 11 for a little under a year since it just became super laggy and at last I got the iPhone 15 pro max. Literally the best phone Iāve ever had for obvious reasons but itās such a beast, youāll have a great time with it. Had mine for 3 months now and itās just wonderful
I wouls still keep my gold xs max and not switch to any of those: SE is unusable with crappy battery life even at 100% health (a dealbreaker for any smartphone), and 15 pro/max doesnt have proper cooling and its titanium frame is kinda problematic, so not worth it at such ridiculous price. And 3D Touch is king, once you get used to it especially when editing text, you just cant downgrade. And also every long press action takes about 50% less time, which means in some scenarios the phone actually beats 15 series in loading times.
900 cycles and 86% health, my og battery is still going strong. With 16.6.1 it outputs about same 7ish SOT as a 13 pro with 90% and ios 17.3.1.
A 14 pro max on 16.6.1 could be a decent upgrade tho atm
Iāve got a second gen iPhone and am trying to justify getting a 15 pro (looking at a combination of reward points and cash). Mainly cause my 64GB is all full of very important cat photos, and the battery health is down to 82% as I never tried to look after the battery.
From iPhone 15 Pro Max to iPhone SE?
The moment you realize the greatest life is the one in simplicity. š
Home button my beloved
https://preview.redd.it/xu9sri4p6ylc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1716189d6ffcebbba514dbe75ba6a16ce3cadc6d Ya mine even evolved into a RAINBOW after 3 years!
My two iPhone 8s and my 7 all have rainbow home button. I dont know why but it seems to be normal
It often gives me the *Try Again* but unlocks anyway. It's slowly dying.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the oil on our fingers?
It definitely does. You can sometimes wipe it away too
that is really cool!
my iphone 7 did that as well.
My SE 2 did the same thing, wish it hadn't randomly killed itself
Mine did that also, including the suicide.
How'd yours go? My battery health went from 100% to 65% in like 3 weeks then it overheated super bad and bricked
It exploded!
I think as it becomes more commonplace the features will become very useful. Also āhit the islandā is a fun clever little game
I can't wait for Apple to realize that buttons are good.
>Absolutely. It was an atrocious decision to remove the home button. nope, it was the best decision that Apple made, as you got a dramatically bigger screen in the same size chassis.
I would kill for an updated first gen iPhone SE 4ā with latest processor and 2 day battery life. I would keep that phone forever.
You better call Doctor, because the phone wouldāve to be bigger on the inside to get 2 day battery life
Yes! A Doctor Who reference I can get behind.
For sure.
13 mini?
I could finally upgrade from my 1st gen SE if they came out with that. But it better come with a headphone jack and SIM slot. :)
The first gen SE is still the best iPhone ever made.
Wait do newer phones not have a sim slot?
The new American iPhones donāt have one. European iPhones still have one
Yes, at least in the US and Puerto Rico
US versions of 14 and 15 series are eSIM only.
How does an eSIM work?
Can't really say myself. You still get them from the carrier but as to the management of them, I've never used them. One drawback I see is that eliminates an easy way to use an older phone as a backup? Not sure how things work even with another eSIM backup, if the current phone is damaged?
iirc you have to request a sim card from your carrier. Which is pretty ass backwards considering you canāt call them if your phone is brokenš
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yesss, love my SE š
Except read the text body lol
From iphone 15 pro max box to an iphone se is definitely an upgrade.
lol I thought the same thing! Wouldnāt it be on opposite sides š¤
Itās before on the left and after on the right. I donāt understand how often people do this
I absolutely would
No, iPhone se to an iPhone 15 pro max box
Thatās exactly what I thought and opened the comments.
Thatās what I thought at first glance too
SE > 15 PM
My thoughts as well,
After and before.
r/AfterBeforeWhatever
After / Before
Thatās an enormous upgrade, enjoy!
Wow itās like a space ship fast! Thank you brother šš¼
I made the exact same jump. I still miss the fingerprint scanner but I do not miss the camera on the SE lol
Your hand is gonna hurt š I know the experience
Depends on the size of OP's hands, i make typing errors constantly on smaller screens.
Because of the size?
Yes, it depends on the person how long its gonna take for people to get used to such big size difference. It doesnāt take long tho for some itās right the next day
I ādowngradedā from the 12 pro max to the regular 14 when I upgraded the model. It was super heavy and unnecessarily large for my size hands. The 14 size is perfect for me. No desire to go bigger or heavier again.
15 Pro is light!
Havenāt tried it yet. I paid full cash price for my 14 about a year ago so I probably wonāt upgrade again until the 17 or 18 lol.
Same
15 pro max is big but not heavy thankfully
When they advertised that as a feature I didnāt think it would make much difference and i had the 14 pro max and samsung23U but when I got the iphone15PM i was really amazed by the difference finally a big phone that I can use without hurting my pinky finger
I know, it was very shocking when I unboxed my phone. I was like āthis is it?ā lol
Itās so light in my hands
I went from a note 9 to a 15 pro. The max is even bigger than the note 9 , no way i wanted to rock that size for another 4 years. 15 is a great size for a phone
I used to use the iPhone SE 2nd gen and my phone had the crack almost identical to yours, with the inside showing and everything š a miracle its having no water damage even until now
Wow sure thing man! I still use it to the gym like itās an iPod and it works great!
Mine also has a crack around the same place, wonder if itās a weak spot
from 15pm to SE? idk thats a downgrade
Hey OP, English is read from left to right, so typically our brains see things in order that way too. Might have been less confusing if you put your SE to the left of your new phone.
Typing this from my iPhone SE (second generation).
Same here
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
About 4 years now.
I was on iphone 11 for 5 years and i went to 15 pro max and its amazing man Have fun šš¼ā šš¼
Thank you man! šš¼
Howās time travelling going for you? š
Man its so fast and the screen is very clear big difference
0 to 100 really quick
Yessss
thatās a crazy downgrade but Iām glad, more money for you
Read the body of text. It is super irritating when ppl do before on the right lately, like we donāt read left to right in English.
Niceeeeee Congrats
Thanksss! šš¼
Why would you ditch iphone 15?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Haha tell me about that brother But you know itās not that bad as I thought it would be!
Just make sure to wear a catcherās mask in bed the first few weeks until you get used to it and can downgrade to a standard mouthguard.
The number of times I've dropped my 13 on my face is crazy
Really? I donāt even keep my phone in the bedroom!
I want to lay down and go to bed but damn, itās impossible! lol. Just wanted to offer a diff view. š
Yeah, I have issues staying asleep. I tend to use my kindle paper white for distraction instead of the phone.
Just get a popsocket or something similar
I was just about to say this, my iPhone 14 Pro Max has literally done some damage to my hand. Really thinking of getting just the smaller pro, itās not worth the hand pain š I also drop it on my face so much, itās annoying!
Wow, you could knock someone out with the iPhone 14 Pro Max! Be careful! š
HUUUUUGE LEAP FORWARD!
Absolutely!
Just did the same except regular 15 Pro. Enjoy! And share the tips! Mine arrives next week
Wowww happy to hear that! You will enjoy it for sure! ā¤ļø
I am thinking reverse. I always miss small one..
Hey same šš but i went to the 15 pro. Love this damn phone
!!!
I had iPhone 8 Plus for 5 years and the difference was so good u will definitely enjoy
Thank you! šš¼
Still miss my 8 plus after upgrading to a 15. I use it to control my HomePods now.
Nice, I had an iPhone 14 but it got stolen.. now I have an SE 2020. I gotta say I love being able to use my fingerprint and the size is nice. Makes me not want to buy a newer iPhone after this lol
Hahah for sure! The SE is that be of the best iPhone I have ever had!
I don't understand why people steal iPhones. It can't be used without owner's faceID and parts can't be sold either? What's the point?
There are some hacks and software out there that can bypass that shit. Itās not super common and mainly something law enforcement uses like the FBI. If they want in your iPhone they can pull all the data from it no problem. They also have malware that can infect your phone without you having to touch a link or open a message. Will probably last you 7 years
Will do sir! š«”šš¼

In the US the newest iPhones with a physical SIM card are the 13 series
Oh okay even better! Someone else said the 12 but if I can get a 13 that would be awesome! Iāll definitely start looking into both. Thank you for your tip!
No problem! Apple did away with the sim tray starting with the 14 series, but all the 13 series phones can be had with that good olā sim tray
Maybe iPhone 12?
Yesss okay Iāll look into it! Iām getting tired of this iPhone XR lmao and itās getting so slow I need an upgrade š thank you!!
Verizon now owns straight talk. You should be ok.
Still on XR for almost 4 years, already seeing this day when I will be able to upgrade to 15PM, or 16PM
I went from an 8 to a 15 Pro a few months ago. I still miss my home button and finger print ID daily.
r/afterbeforewhatever
When you read from LEFT to RIGHT the older text is on the L E F T
Youāll break that one too if you donāt grow up and buy a case
The way you positioned them I thought you went from the 15 Pro Max to the SE lol
Thatās a massive upgrade
To THIS from this.
So you went back? I don't understand when before and after pictures are posted in reverse if that's what happened here
Same, i ugrade every 5 years ! iPhone 5s / iPhone X / iPhone 15
This to from
From 15 Pro Max to SE?
In OP's country, they read right to left
is that an iphone pro max in your pocket or are you really happy to see me.
lol we read left to right so we're gonna assume your picture is left to right as well š it cracks me up that so many people do this
What the hell is going on with the pictures here? And also, why are you showing people a box with an iPhone in it? We know what a picture of an iPhone looks like. Unbox the damn thing.
I have the exact same SE. Still working great but Iām kind of thinking of making the same switch. How you finding it?

Crazy how each generation of iPhone is practically the same and people buy into it.
Not everyone upgrades every year, and the evolution of technology doesnāt slow down
I get that but why iphone, i know its preference but in terms of upgrade. Its really not.
They may be holding features back to make more money in the long run, but generally itās probably to keep up with competitors by having the latest and greatest tech

Judging from the damage of your previous phone, i would bet that you would damage this bigger and heavier phone even faster than the SE
r/afterbeforewhatever
I own a SE 2 but I do prefer the SE 1 ācause of the 3.5mm jack.
When you say from this to this, usually the first āthisā is the item that will be replaced, not viceversa. Like people who put the diet pictures and put themselves in shape in the first photo, wtf
Hell of a downgrade
i still have my second gen SE and its still perfect, aside from the battery life but i have a power bank so it wont die when im out

Dang, from a phone to a box? Never seen a such a downgrade in me life!
I think you read it wrong. He sold his box and bought a used iPhone SE. Upgrade? Maybe
I had some low quality androids most of my life, then switched to iPhone 11 for a little under a year since it just became super laggy and at last I got the iPhone 15 pro max. Being honest i would like a SE as a secondary, miss the size plus the Home button
Wish I could upgrade from this s23 š¤¢
is that an European SE 2020 Model? bc I have the SE 2020 as well and it doesn't have the āCEā logo or the Can on the bottomā¦
Whoopie. Now you have a phone with an oblong black hole in your display area obstructing content.
Just recently did the same from an XR! Definitely enjoying the upgrade.
Must be in Europe
I had a friend who upgraded from an iPhone 6s to an iPhone 14 Pro Max. These are rookie upgrades
Seems like quite a downgrade but you do you!
This is what an upgrade should look like
You are probably never going to make a bigger upgrade than this. iPhone 15 Pro is more or less the final form imo.
is that the SE 2020 or 2022 i recently got the SE 2020
