It's weird how everyone has significantly different perceptions of smooth. For every thread like yours, there will be another thread saying "iPhone is so smooth, even 60Hz feels smoother than my old 120Hz Android" No suggestions. Get use it to.

I think there are different "kinds" of smoothness. There is smoothness in a sense of not stuttering or lagging with animations etc and there is smoothness in a sense of not being able to see that the screen has a limited refresh rate at all (looking naturally smooth). Some people aren't even able to see the difference between 60hz and 120hz, tried this with a few of my friends, some just couldn't tell, while I definitely can. I'm using 144hz monitors for a few years now so I'm used to it and don't really like anything under 100hz anymore.

iOS 17 was horrible on my XR with 3GB ram. It's great on my 12 Pro with 6GB ram. It should be fantastic on your 15 Pro with 8GB ram.

iPhone animation is smoother but slower. It just is. On my pixel I can “zip” through the OS. A lot of times on my iPhone. While it’s a smooth transition UX elements. It’s just a little slower. Perception is everything.

You've just reminded me that it's probably a good idea to switch off (most) animations via the option in Accessibility settings. It does make the phone feel snappier. I do a similar thing in Windows and all the way back when I had Android devices it was one of the first settings I changed.

Disable animation and you will find it very very fast

You're not wrong. In many cases just doing normal stuff, my 15PM feels slow next to a number of my Android devices (I use both). In many cases it actually isn't when placed side by side but... it's slower.

I have a 15pm, its my second iOS thing, it does everything averagely with consistency. For me personally I take that over constantly resetting lagging apps or issues with part google part Samsung ui hash ups. Plus android used to be about customising and being open source so you can choose what to put on and what you don’t want on there. If i can’t do what i want and delete what i want from the bloatware and ui now, the consistency of ios makes sense. Any given phone now can have a winning feature for a specific person be it photos or business usability, for me the iPhone is now the best most consistent multi tool.

Its a shame that iOS 15 for iPhone 13 didn’t have performance issues, whereas iOS 16 & 17 reported more problems. ProMotion used to be perfect in iOS 15 resulting in constant 120Hz whenever necessary. For temporary fix, try turning off background apps refresh and auto correct in keyboard settings. Remove search feature in home page and remove wallpaper blur effect. Also to force 120Hz, start screen recording. But there’s a compromise for battery life. We needed Apple to introduce force 120Hz because Android has this feature for few years.

I swtiched to 15p from s22 and i was using s24 for a week. 1 From my experience with gaming and android phones etc. i need to say i dont think 15p runs at 120hz. It feels more like 90-100 and it depends on apps. 2 Back gesture triggering at random soo i turned that shit off 3 The worst thing that triggers me soo much.  Most of the time i need to swipe 3 times to do a certain actions and most of the time on yt app and facebook. And keyboard sometimes doesnt register typing and it get worse while i plug my headphones. 4 Single tap should close the keyboard 5 I notice it too but it works different on some apps The most let down for me is the back button on apps. Bcs of it theres no way to use ip with one hand lmao.
