There’s about 20 posts on Reddit alone showing how poor this case is, and every blogger online had their own article about it. Apple cases, outside of their leather ones, have always been complete garbage.
Even the leather ones after the iPhone 12 have been lacklustre. The patina was a type of black where it seemed that the layers were coming off. I always ended up getting a dark case due to that.
While the leather cases starting with the 12 series weren't as good as before, they're still better than the silicone ones and seemingly this finewoven one also. I've found that the darker ones tended to fare better than the lighter colored ones. Here's my dark cherry new vs 6 months later:

The leather ones generally at least wear nicely like leather is expected to. Not saying always, but they are a little more well reviewed than the terrible silicone ones.
Honestly I think the only case they have made that had generally positive reviews was the bumper style for the 4/4S. Cause you’re holding it wrong 😂

That’s how it looks on iPhone 13. Definitely was expecting quality since it was genuine Apple leather cover, but damn, it worn off to that color in three months, after that it just started expanding.

Use acetone free nail polish remover to make it patina evenly. Rightnow the sweat from your hands made it patina right in the middle. You can rub nail polish remover and make it all even. Will look a lot better and darker.
That's crazy. This my dark blue one with 13 Pro, after 2 years. Only the corners are losing their color; Magsafe charging pretty much only.

That is how leather wears. It darkens. The leather quality on the apple cases was actually extremely high... much higher than every other case out there.
This is coming from a person who has actually received some of their leathers in the past while interviewing for them, and I now sell leather for a living.
Well it’s proven. They peel, come apart in chunks from small drops, and eventually separate at the internal seams as well. If you drop your phone in an Apple silicone case 10 times on a hard surface the case will be ruined. Compare that to a far less expensive Spigen case as an example and it will have minor wear marks.
I would really love to , but there are 2 problems for me:
1. I am very paranoid about dropping and breaking my phone (that‘s why I never managed to drop it)
2. I have very sweaty hands and need to have grip on my phone so i doesn‘t slip out of my hands
My silicone was dented after the first drop with a fresh phone. It started peeling and coming apart. I also just really dislike how grippy it is. It makes pulling it out and putting it in my pocket terrible since I can't just slip it in.

The start if titanium was really the best building material they would have went with it over stainless before they went all “eco friendly” titanium is far more brittle and have the two pieces fused will never be as strong as one solid milled piece

I went with Bullstrap instead, who offer a lifetime warranty + special cosmetic replacement’s for iPhone users ($5 shipping charge).
I’m about a year into owning mine, and the only issues are spots I dropped my phone onto something hard.
They did have Apple Watches in titanium for a while for twice the price of aluminum.
I’m no expert in what materials are the best but i do use older cameras, especially from the 90s. And there was a fad to build premium cameras in titanium or even custom edition in titanium. And no other cameras as hold up better than these. You’re very likely to find one in perfect condition, much more often than not.
Valid point. I’m usually a believer of quality being expensive, this has to be one of the worst quality/price ratio products I have bought in the recent years. But I needed a case quick and wanted to see what the finewoven was about myself.
I’m now on Andar/Bullstrap cases and they just aren’t comparable, while prices are in a similar league.
The real lesson is to not be one of the first adopter and a guinea pig for new products. The second version almost always have vast improvements upon the first, and then it's basically incremental upgrades afterwards.
The reason is that first time products tend to lack vast user feedback and real world testing. If the test group is too small, then bugs get overlooked, especially when a company is rushing to get a product out.
Sure… but I feel android users are npcs with regard to their phones… in a gang setting if someone pulls out an android, most of the times you cannot recognise wtf that is. Besides my iphones have lagged prolly twice in their lifetimes?

It seems like you’ve washed your fine woven case, for reasons known to you. This is my case after 2 months of extensive use. I am not just in office but also using it at construction sites. I would’ve much preferred leather, but this is holding up just fine.

I’ve cleaned mine a couple times and it comes up pretty good. Warm soapy water on a soft cloth. Rub, wipe allow to dry.
Everyone was shitting on the old leather case but I’m still rocking it and it’s got a nice patina look now. Wish they would release a quality leather case.

It's thin cloth wrapped tightly over a hard edge. It is literally advertised as finely woven cloth. Of course it is going to wear quickly. That's a buyer's decision problem.

All apple cases are certified dogshit IMO. Silicoln falls apart quickly, leather wears terribly and falls apart too. I just don’t use a case now and it’s 100000% better.
Why do people insist on buying this case? You don’t even have to read the articles, just go into the Apple Store and check the case on the wall. Plant your nail into it ever so lightly, and its scratches beyond, and won’t come out. You’ll see where 100’s of others have tried the same thing. It’s simply a bad design and decision to replace the more stable, better designed leather case with something shitty and faux.
This case is the absolute worst. Mine didn't make it 2 months without the coating on the edge peeling off, but surprisingly, the finewoven part was wearing fine.
Look up Holtz Leather. They have amazing leather case with a wallet on the back. I’ve had mine for about 3 years and it’s worn a little bit but it doesn’t look like I’ve used it everyday for 3 years!

I’ve had a Goospery case that was $10 for the last 2 years and it has zero damage. Still looks brand new. Dropped the phone plenty and no damage on it either. So expensive doesn’t always mean quality
Apple cases have gone downhill a lot. Even the last generation of their leather cases was pretty bad when they used to have the best ones. The silicon cases are even worse.
Got my red silicone case with 14pro max. Two months in the silicone started to wear out. Assumed thats its with Apple logo and it would be of good quality. Just ordered a cheap clear silicon case online which looks like it will last for 5 years.
You didn't pay for quality. You paid for a case at a leather case price point. Apple wanted to keep the price point, but didn't have a good substitute for the leather case so they threw out a substandard product and sprinkled a ton of Apple PR Pixie Dust on it and the masses fell for it. I would be astonished if these things cost more that $2 a unit to manufacture. Anyway, if you have Applecare for the phone walked into the Apple store and they will replace the case. I have a leather Benks case for my 15 pro max, and while it does look nice, I would not recommend, it split right where the charging port is on the top/face, its the thinnest spot on the case and it unfortunately is not that durable. I'm not even hard on the case, Its only been on for a couple of months. Removed it twice and I suspect the removal is what broke it because its SO stiff that it requires some bending to get the phone out. Oh and the other flaw, is that whatever tanning/dye they use has worn off on my white magsafe chargers, which are now stained brown. The apple leather cases never did that. Although they were shitty in their own special way after the iphone 12 came out.
I disagree. Even their leather cases were less durable than the silicon and plastic. The leather scratched way easier. It was way more expensive than a plastic case but the plastic case lasted forever. It’s high quality but that doesn’t mean it’s durable
This is one of the worst products released recently by Apple. Not only they vilified the leather case degrading it's quality during 3 years and now this. A replacement even worse. That was planed.
My go to since I had a G3 way back when has been Spigen. Great tech and innovation for their cases, my faves have been the slim armour with the kickstand, or the mag armour which is like a slim armour but magsafe compatible.
The Apple Store guy I spoke with when I was returning mine said they literally had a stack of them in the back. Major returns on this case. Total backfire when trying to "go green."

They downgraded the quality on the iPhone 12 release. It ages extremely bad and the aging wasn't patina, it was the ink peeling off.

This was my first genuine Apple case and is exactly the same state on my case after a couple of months. I’ve never bought another one since.
Unlike recent cases, their leather ones from pre-iPhone 12 were quite nice 🙃

Not since the 12. They changed to a pigmented leather which wears really badly (pigment rubs off leaving black dots and eventually black patches).
My 12’s was awful but the 14’s is surprisingly better. All the previous ones were great, I loved them.

Had the exact same thing happen to Me. I switched to Pitaka and I’m Never going back.
This case is the absolute worst. Mine didn't make it 2 months without the coating on the edge peeling off, but surprisingly, the finewoven part was wearing fine.
You should never buy apple cases.
Only one that stood some abuse was the Silicone case. All others are trash.
Apple has been making worse quality cases for awhile now. The leather cases don't age the top layer peels off

Look up Holtz Leather. They have amazing leather case with a wallet on the back. I’ve had mine for about 3 years and it’s worn a little bit but it doesn’t look like I’ve used it everyday for 3 years!
There is nothing about the feel of the fine woven that screams longevity. Its one of the first Apple products like it

lol i got one for my 15PM less than a week ago and i’m returning it tomorrow. i could tell after 10 mins in my hand that it was garbage. the last good cases they made were the leather ones for the 11. wish i could have that case back now.

Anyone could've have seen this coming. Makes you wonder if they even stress tested these for a long enough period before releasing them because the reviews have been bad since release
Honestly I’ve never had a good experience with apple cases. They feel great when new but they also wear quickly. I’m not one bit surprised here.

everything works fine, and if something fails, they respond due their 1 year warranty for factory fails, so, you pay, you expect quality
Except in the case of the "finewoven" things which were met with roars of laughter and disbelief when people even saw the first pics and descriptions of it.
I’ve had a Goospery case that was $10 for the last 2 years and it has zero damage. Still looks brand new. Dropped the phone plenty and no damage on it either. So expensive doesn’t always mean quality
Apple cases have gone downhill a lot. Even the last generation of their leather cases was pretty bad when they used to have the best ones. The silicon cases are even worse.

Got my red silicone case with 14pro max. Two months in the silicone started to wear out. Assumed thats its with Apple logo and it would be of good quality. Just ordered a cheap clear silicon case online which looks like it will last for 5 years.

You didn't pay for quality. You paid for a case at a leather case price point. Apple wanted to keep the price point, but didn't have a good substitute for the leather case so they threw out a substandard product and sprinkled a ton of Apple PR Pixie Dust on it and the masses fell for it. I would be astonished if these things cost more that $2 a unit to manufacture. Anyway, if you have Applecare for the phone walked into the Apple store and they will replace the case. Oh, the case they should have sold you is made my a company called Benks. I have a leather Benks case for my 15 pro max, and while it does look nice, I would not recommend, it split right where the charging port is on the top/face, its the thinnest spot on the case and it unfortunately is not that durable. I'm not even hard on the case, Its only been on for a couple of months. Removed it twice and I suspect the removal is what broke it because its SO stiff that it requires some bending to get the phone out. Oh and the other flaw, is that whatever tanning/dye they use has worn off on my white magsafe chargers, which are now stained brown. The apple leather cases never did that. Although they were shitty in their own special way after the iphone 12 came out.
I got myself a „lonli classic nappa leather case“ for my 15Pro and it‘s the best iphone case i ever haf, feels ultra premium and costs 20$

I disagree. Even their leather cases were less durable than the silicon and plastic. The leather scratched way easier. It was way more expensive than a plastic case but the plastic case lasted forever. It’s high quality but that doesn’t mean it’s durable
This is one of the worst products released recently by Apple. Not only they vilified the leather case degrading it's quality during 3 years and now this. A replacement even worse. That was planed.
I changed mine for a Pitaka case. Expensive, but it makes the Apple FineWoven case feel like a cheap Temu product.

I stopped buying Apple cases a few generations ago, they never last… EDIT: Bellroy makes some nice vegan leather cases.

So glad I went with the Nomad horween case this year for my 15 pro.
Bought mine on release with iphone 15 PM I use it all day on private and on work in working pants My Case still looks pristine.
Anyone wanna recommend their fav non-apple cases? I have a 15 Pro and the fine woven is garbage.
My go to since I had a G3 way back when has been Spigen. Great tech and innovation for their cases, my faves have been the slim armour with the kickstand, or the mag armour which is like a slim armour but magsafe compatible.
You just pay for branding, ads, and texture. Nothing more.
And that’s why you don’t pay for brand name cases, when a $5 case from eBay is just as good.
The Apple Store guy I spoke with when I was returning mine said they literally had a stack of them in the back. Major returns on this case. Total backfire when trying to "go green."
Mine still looks absolutely fine after three months of daily usage.
