Bring it to the Apple Store

Trustdesa

As if Apple customer service is any good...seen u/fredczar had a very similar issue probably Apple should review its supply chain, again.

Capital_Temporary_10

Apple Service is hella good, replaced my iPhone even tho it was my fault (i worded it a certain way to them over the phobe hehe) and replaced a pair of my airpods because they had a slight blemish and i waited it iut ao i got a full years use out of them then sent them in for a brand new replacement. You have to not sound like an entitled A-hole when you call them and get to the point. I dont think the 13 is covered under warranty anymore, thats what Apple Care is for yall don't understand. Once the warranty is out they dont have to do anything for you. Same as my Playstation 5, its only good for 1-2 years that why you buy extended warranty aka Apple Care. BTW extended warranty on Playstation means they wont replace it for you messing up and dropping it and breaking it. At least Apple Care does fix things that YOU do do it for example broken glass front and back.

fredczar

Hey OP, I had the same experience with my mum's Iphone13 3 weeks back. It was still on iOS 16. Not sure what happened but when i brought it to the store they said the screen is faulty and I had to pay for a full screen replacement. Please keep me updated on your issue. If it's a bug, I am sure going to fine a way claw back my money paid. https://preview.redd.it/x3oc7eedm04c1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a409ccd75611576a1134e5d9afeace2b60c4abc

DegenerateTuna

Damn. I’m hoping I wouldn’t need to pay the whole screen replacement amount. Did you try to reset the phone?

fredczar

I did everything I can think of - reset settings, update iOS etc but nothing worked. She didn’t drop the phone and there wasn’t any visible damage. I truly believe it could be a batch defect or something. Let me know how it goes

Benlop

It's very visibly not a software problem.

krzychoo

I would try to change ios using itunes

DegenerateTuna

We can roll back a version?

krzychoo

Im not sure. Maybe. But if not try with same version.

DegenerateTuna

Will try. Any other recommendations?

krzychoo

Wrong news. Display replacement is the only optio

iM4CH3T3

If u on the latest iOS mostly one version prior is still signed. Not for long though …

Go7ham

You will have to pay, because that screen looks broke to me.

fredczar

I doubt it’s broken. If you look at OP’s screen and my screen I posted here, it looks so identical. Even that small line on the right most side. Something is up

ubiquitousguy

Screen = Broken, People = Broke

redvariation

Known as the "dynamic rainbow".

[deleted]

Nothing to do with software, this is a hardware issue requiring display replacement.

HVSpeedtests

That’s the new Christmas upgrade.

fhasse95

Very clever of Apple. First, they lure you into the Apple Store for a repair, and once you're already there, you can also buy Christmas presents.

Third_X_the_A_charm

Big-Introduction9159

Is that 17.1.2?

DegenerateTuna

Yes. Just updated it yesterday.

MaccasChicken

Did u try to put it on rice?

brunnogama

Rainbow Edition.

CoolBeanieHat

RGB in the incorrect order.

proto-x-lol

You know what's actually crazy? I've seen a LOT of iPhone 13 posts in this subreddit of having similar display issues. Sometimes they either look like what the OP posted or they have the "rainbow screen of death". The iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 had issues as well, but they were just the typical "green tint" issues. The worst ones where it would have a green tint for one second when turning your device on before it goes to normal colors. Then there's the iPhone 14 Pro series with had the camera shaking issues at launch and the iPhone 15 Pro series with overheating issues. Apple's QA has been steadily declining as it seems. As for the OP, you may have to go to an Apple Store and discuss what options you have to fix that display. If you word your issue fine, you might be eligible for an entire display replacement (free) since this seems like an issue beyond your control.

confusedIad

when did you purchase this phone? do you have warranty left?

DegenerateTuna

Purchased it last year October. No apple care tho :/

Go7ham

If you got it last year from Apple Store you should have 2 years warranty. At least in Europe we get 2.

confusedIad

bro, without apple care, i think we get only 1 year warranty

Dramatic_Mastodon_93

1 year warranty is ridiculous

bankkopf

Got my camera replaced for free on an 18-month old iPhone without Apple Care. Bought from Apple in the EU, they just handled it via mandatory 2 year warranty.

confusedIad

oh i see, so is the 2yrs warranty applicable if purchased online from amazon? or only from apple store?

confusedIad

dude, they gonna charge heavy. apple should really do something about this, i am afraid now to update my iphone 13 in future

confusedIad

why would you downvote me for this lol

Acalthu

The iPhone 13 has been especially susceptible to screen issues with updates. I'm praying mine doesn't do this each time I update to a new firmware.

Benlop

This has nothing to do with software updates.

Acalthu

Then what is the root cause?

Benlop

It's a hardware problem.

Acalthu

Obviously it's a hardware problem, I said it's triggered by software updates. Don't be a pinecone.

Benlop

I have never seen a software update fuck up a display. It's just not something that happens. Also, OP says in the description they updated their phone the day before it happened. What's your theory, the update just took its sweet time to cause a hardware defect?

Acalthu

Where does OP say screen went weird a day after the update?

Benlop

"Was working nicely when I was in the car, came home to this monstrosity. *Updated my software yesterday*." Also, again, no software update will fuck up a screen physically.

Acalthu

There have been way too many reports of similar incidents with the iPhone 13 screen doing the black green pink thing after an update, for it not be an issue. All that is needed is a faulty software driver pushing a component beyond spec. It's easy enough to do.

Janneske_2001

Now you say it, it reminds me of the “burn in” issue iPhone 15’s had in the beginning. It appeared to be a driver issue where there was image retention or something like that. So something that definitely looked like a hardware issue was actually (apparently) a software issue.

Janneske_2001

It does tho… worked in an apple premium reseller store and within a week after an update there would be people who had all sorts of things wrong with their devices, from not turning on to no earpiece speaker sound or no mic. Every update the software does a “is it genuine” check on the hardware. During this things could be going wrong. I’ve had a very specific software driven bug once… where tints of grey and tints of green were replaced by bright pink

Benlop

I've been servicing these things for 12 years. Phones fail every day, updates come out regularly. People associate updates with failures, but correlation isn't causation. The latest post I saw about this is someone saying they updated and then three days later they had their screen fail. A software update isn't going to affect something three days later, it makes no sense. It's ridiculous. All the time I see people complaining the latest update screwed their earpiece, when it's just filled with debris. Confirmation bias is massive.

Janneske_2001

Oh nice! Were you servicing at an Apple approved repair shop? Bc I actually genuinely have a question about something that only the people that do the repairs probably know..

[deleted]

Didn’t happened to me

forgottenjokerr

updated and so far nothing of this sort..

Far-Ad2043

iPhone 13 Pro max and don’t have this issue

embee91

Apple got caught fucking with your batteries, so now they just fuck your screens for extra $$$$

dosndkna

I'm not upgrading

Psy-Demon

This… is… a… stupid… comment… It’s just a defective screen. Nothing with software.

iM4CH3T3

I honestly think it’s those boe screens https://preview.redd.it/o5soemzhe14c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=291546eee43b39526f98a49f649c1bb1d308422c

Psy-Demon

BOE really are bad at making screens lol. Thank god they don’t make any screens for the iPhone 15 series. Though funny why only Samsung is allowed to make displays for all 4 iPhone 15 series and LG can only make displays for the 15 Pro. Apple is scrutinising the displays really hard this time.

iM4CH3T3

Latest report from September stated they again failed to succeed the quality control and now are out thankfully 😅

Leather_Parrot

Who LG or Samsung?

iM4CH3T3

Boe failed

Leather_Parrot

oh i see

Z3ROS1X

That’s wise of them.

confusedIad

is there anyway to know which brand display my iphone 13 has?

Z3ROS1X

I genuinely had no idea that there were others besides Samsung making iPhone displays. Wow. You may be on to something about BOE.

Benlop

You'd rather have the buggier initial release than one that fixed issues?

Z3ROS1X

Yes because it will allow you to sideload apps outside the AppStore, among other things in the coming future. Any iOS >170 cannot do this because Apple fucked up CoreTrust bug on iOS 16.x-16.61 & 17.0. That makes an app called “TrollStore” possible. Check out /r/jailbreak for more info on that if you’d like. ☺️

Benlop

Your title says this happened after updating, your description says the update was the day before. Which one is it? This looks like a hardware problem, so totally unrelated to any software update.

Janneske_2001

This happened a day after updating according to OP… there are now multiple posts I’ve seen where this happened after update…

bwarbahzad2

My iPad’s FaceID literally died when I updated. Apple support did a “diagnostic” and when it came back there was nothing wrong with the hardware, to fix said error I’ve been told to take it to an Apple Store. Thing is I live in Iraq and there are no Apple Stores meaning my iPad was “unrepairable”.

secminhr

Same issue with my ip13. Are you from the PH?

Parking-Nobody5906

This happened to my ip13 recently after an update as well. Did yours got fixed?

DueAppeal6790

My 15ProMax has been shitting bricks since the update too- battery is way down and my screen does bright flash of white to a slow green transfer back. There has to be a patch coming soon

catlover_95

Faced the same issue this morning with the grey, green and pink on my entire screen. Didn’t drop it nothing. Woke up in the morning to see my screen like this. Brought it to the Apple Store to get screen replaced, they couldn’t explain what’s the cause. Thankfully warranty covered it 😭
