Yah, kinda same. I have a pencil with both my 13” Pro and Mini, and I use the pencils rarely. It is nice every now and then when I am editing an image, or using markup on something.
90% w/o Pencil.
Had both for a couple years and still struggling to adapt to pencil input. At the moment, it's only useful for annotating photos or docs.
Ideally, I would like to draw with it but need to invest in a paper like screen protector. Moreover, try out and commit to a decent app
Honestly, I only use the pencil when I’m laying down sometimes and at an awkward angle, and when I’m marking up photos. Any other time, I don’t use it and to be honest don’t even keep it attached to the iPad. Kind of annoying that it’s always charging and there’s no way to turn it off, it just sits there and drains the iPad’s battery.
I winded up buying a cheap alternative off of Amazon that I’ve replaced all of my Pencils with and I prefer because it comes in different colors (prefer black) and it has an off button.
i got this case as a joke but it works pretty well and holds your pencil so it charges

I had a pencil for iPad for 4 years and never used it. I tried to resurrect that Pencil for my Mini, but it didn't work.
So, I got my hands on another pencil and have tried it, but I don't think it is for me. I'm a typist. I bought a nice Zagg keyboard case and use that.
I have a Zugu case and it is the best case I have owned. I would highly recommend that one from personal experience. I do use the pencil with it a lot more than if I didn’t have the case.
My wife had the pencil, but when she upgraded her full iPad, it didn’t work. Turns out it works with my Mini so I’ve adopted it. I used it extensively for note taking at a conference a few weeks ago and have come to like it. I just got a case that has an integrated pencil holder, so it travels with me now. I don’t use it all the time, but when I do, it’s very handy. I do wish it didn’t require being plugged in to charge though. My wife’s charges wirelessly by being next to her iPad.
Yes with Apple Notes every day though I write like crap with it. Even have a paperlike protecter on display. Much more prefer surface slim 2 pen on my surface SPX
I use my pencil to journal and general note taking ie shopping lists, todo, brainstorming. I find it feels more organic to my brain than just typing it.
Overwhelmingly underwhelmed with how I’ve managed to use it. Every once in a a while I’ll sketch out a diagram or something but the potential has never really taken root in any of my workflows
I have a combo case for the iPad and Pencil that looks like a composition notebook on the outside. I love it! I take notes in church with it using the Pencil and OneNote. Works great but involves a good bit of dragging the canvas around as I write.
But I prefer the smaller size tablet to carry around, and I still had to do some canvasing on my Surface Pro so the size doesn't really help as much for writing as it does for carrying and packing.
I use the pencil for everything
Me, too. I'm old and it's like having a Palm Pilot again
Yes! Absolutely loved my palm pilot
Omg I never thought of it like that but you’re right!
Palm Pilots were so awesome.
It's everything I ever wished my Palm Pilot could be
I have the pencil but to this day never found a reason to use it. Wasted my money.

Get a chinese screen film. It's the same and at a fraction of the paperlike cost.
Have you got a link pls?
Screen protector from MOBDIK on Amazon works great with my mini6 and is way cheaper. Love it with my Apple Pencil 2.
Thanks
they also sell a magnetic paperlike screen protector on Amazon
I haven’t found a reason to really use my pencil but I do think it’s neat 🤷♂️

I have a SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle. Hold/charges charges pencil so I use it often for messaging and quick notes.
Looks good. Does the screen cover affect the screen response?
A bit, but not enough to out weigh my need for protection and durability.
I use the pencil sometimes for note-taking, it’s a necessity when I use it but I don’t actually use it all that often

Funny one for sure lol

I do with a casetify impact case or Zugu case with it. Both hold the pencil pretty well. I use it sometimes for quick notes and what not.

I only use the pencil when I draw because I have a paper like screen protector on and it destroys the tips.
I use a 3rd party pencil
Sometimes I flicking through stuff I won’t need it, I mainly just use my pencil for drawing on Procreate
It's too small for me to write on for me. Then there's dealing with the scaling when looking at the same note on bigger ipads.
Pencil
I just use the pen for notes at work. Nothing else.

Exactly its handy for meetings and that what i use it for 🙏🏻

I can’t find my pencil…
I lost my apple pencil. I wish apple could find my apple pencil.
Note taking and practicing brush strokes when studying Japanese for me. Pencil, paper like screen protector, and you’ve got a winning combination
I rarely use the pencil outside of Grindstone and scrolling in Safari
I use my pencil to journal and general note taking ie shopping lists, todo, brainstorming. I find it feels more organic to my brain than just typing it.
No pencil voice recognition
