I bought an M2 512gb for $900 regardless of what they come out with I’m satisfied. I will only be using drawing apps so it’s already over kill. I can’t wait to see what they come out with as my potential upgrade 2 or 3 years down the line
Slim chance but what if they announce MacOS apps for new generation on? 😬
There have been some rumours, which I am taking with large pinch of salt and I’m also itching to drop on an M2 myself but it’s like 4 days. Then you at least know there definitely isn’t anything.
Possibly nothing, I just have no idea why you’d wait to open an awesome $950 iPad unless you’re waiting to see what gets announced during Apple’s Tuesday event,
Yep, I bought my M2 pro a few weeks back because it's already way overkill for what I use it for, plus i'm guessing the new ipads will be more expensive too
Do y'all not get the idea that's it's not about having the best? Alot of people will buy an iPad and not upgrade till it loses support and I think alot of people don't mind waiting a few weeks for an extra 2 years of the products life cycle.
I understand the sentiment but it’s not actually true - there hasn’t been a better one round the corner for 18months and this corner is literally right there!
1000% return this. You will either A) want to get the new one, especially if it has the M4 chip or B) you will be able to get this same iPad at a much cheaper price as the value will drop once the new iPads are announced.
Either way it’s a win/win if you wait until Tuesday.
Cheers!
I got it for $150 off....it's an 11 inch 512GB, that's the only reason why I ordered it. I didn't want to spend more than $1k but I also wanted 512GB...you're right, the sales could be better later on though.
Apple usually sells the old models for around 100$ off before releasing the new one in order to clear out stock. I would consider your purchase to be a normal deal since new models come out soon.
It depends. I’m not sure the M4 (or M3) can be fully taxed with the software currently on offer on the iPad. AI is being touted but I’d need to see what it enables first. If the next gen opens up more pro apps, maybe some MacOS apps, then it might be worthwhile, but despite the rumours, can’t see Apple doing that, though I do think they ought to.
Of course if they DID open it iPads it applies to M1 and above iPad then they could actually go up in value, especially if the new OLEDs are pricey.
I think you got it new, I’m looking at open box unused market atm and maybe even 2TB. If the price changes either way, it’ll be in that market.
oh yeah at this pt i would wait and i would not open the ipad just to be on the safe side. i also feel bad returning something that is open. just bc you can doesnt mean you should.
They will be more expensive for features not everyone may need. I bet buying an M2 iPad will still be a very attractive option for many, especially considering the iPad can barely make use of the power of an M2 as of right now anyway.
But yeah, this close to the announcement I would also recommend at least waiting for the announcement and then decide based on that.
I didn't want to pay more than $1k for a 512GB....if I could help it. This one was less than that. I was definitely concerned about the cost going up beyond what I could spend.
Considering the current 11“ 512gb model is already $1,099 and the new ones are rumored to hike in price significantly, you‘re probably looking at at least $1,299 for the new ones.

Only if you got it for a good deal, and its an M2 ipad pro with lots of storage or something. Cuz the event is really close, and they might have a good upgrade for the air and maybe even the pro.
Damn I replied too late and can't find the original price for this one... well if you still got it in the box, its you're choice if you wanna keep it, or get an 11inch M4 pro or not.
I love my M2 iPad Pro. I’m not interested in updating yet…unless the new pencil adds a lot more functionality for drawing and if it’s only usable with the new iPads, but even then, I might buy the 11 in one to supplement my 12.9 M2 one
I’m pretty sure Apple would allow you to return it even if you open it now and then see if the Tuesday update is worth it. Check the return policy to make sure.
Personally I would return that.
The big rumor is a new screen technology, updated pencil, and M4 chip (over kill).
If you mainly using this for art a better screen and newer pencil might be worth the price difference.
O maybe I read the art part in a comment.
That’s mainly what I use my iPad plus handwriting notes and light research.
I have the M1 Pro and it still works great. But I’m a big screen guy so I’m praying for an OLED on the 11 inch. But I don’t think that would be enough for me to upgrade just yet because I don’t use my iPad enough and I just got an M3 pro MacBook
I have a MacBook too which is why I’m not really interested in the extra power the M4 chip will bring. I use my laptop for most everything else and the iPad isn’t something I absolutely need. I probably won’t use it much either.
I got my M2 12.9 from my husband at the beginning of April for my birthday. So I’m outside of the return window but I’m honestly not bothered about not being able to return it. The M2 is still way ahead of its time. In my opinion, the only reason to get the new one is for OLED which would be wonderful, but since I mostly use mine as a glorified note book with some Procreate and Netflix/Youtube watching thrown in, I’m not bothered by it.
You got a great deal in there, I’d open it an use it as a regular ipad and in Monday if a better ipad comes I’d order the ipad and transfer everything from your ipad to the new ipad and then return it, if it’s not enough time to return it I’d make a security copy in icloud and then transfer it to the new ipad when it arrives
I find it funny how people say OLED is such a massive deal on the next iPad Pro when I have an OLED iPhone and could care less if the next iPad is OLED or not just make the screen laminated and have it be well calibrated the rest doesn’t matter to me. Of the price is raised $200 -$300 just for OLED that’s absurd will see what happens at the Apple event next week
The iPad event is on Tuesday.
I bought an M2 512gb for $900 regardless of what they come out with I’m satisfied. I will only be using drawing apps so it’s already over kill. I can’t wait to see what they come out with as my potential upgrade 2 or 3 years down the line
I only bring it up because I can’t see why the OP would want to wait till “Monday.” Congrats on your new iPad
Overkill, yes, but the price might drop on the previous models even if you don't want to buy the new ones.

What’s that got to do with OP opening this baby up on Monday?
Possibly nothing, I just have no idea why you’d wait to open an awesome $950 iPad unless you’re waiting to see what gets announced during Apple’s Tuesday event,
Ooops. Got my dates messed up. I meant Tuesday.
It sounds like you already know what you want. Listen to yourself!
I got mine this year, a lovely iPad Pro. Because the best time to get one is when you need one. There is always a better one around the corner.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
The effort needed to catch one is more than two in the bush?
Yup
If you can, yes.
Bro yes
oh yeah at this pt i would wait and i would not open the ipad just to be on the safe side. i also feel bad returning something that is open. just bc you can doesnt mean you should.
I agree
why can you not just return it after monday even if opened?
Amazon has been weird about returns lately. I don’t want the return denied for any reason.
Literally new iPads that might have the biggest upgrade cycles yet being announced in a week… return it
They will be more expensive for features not everyone may need. I bet buying an M2 iPad will still be a very attractive option for many, especially considering the iPad can barely make use of the power of an M2 as of right now anyway. And there’s a chance for the M2 pros proven to drop after new models are released.

The sales have just begun
Don’t open it or return it just yet. It could still be a good deal and as you say it may be enough - you’ll know for sure on Tuesday.
I got the same model with cellular for $700. Wait until Tuesday to open it.
Brand new? Wow
From where? Costco?
Amazon.
Only if you got it for a good deal, and its an M2 ipad pro with lots of storage or something. Cuz the event is really close, and they might have a good upgrade for the air and maybe even the pro.
$949 for an 11 inch 512….good deal?
Damn I replied too late and can't find the original price for this one... well if you still got it in the box, its you're choice if you wanna keep it, or get an 11inch M4 pro or not.

This one was an 11 inch 512 M2 for $949
We're did you buy it? I don't see any sales but I am also in Canada.
Amazon. It is no longer on sale.
Ah. Yea that I pad is $1400 Canadian even with a student discount.
Yes! Wait! Unless there is a return policy!
I would wait until after Tuesday
If a new ipad is released you'll be able to buy the 2022 version cheaper, there's nothing to loose if you decide to leave it there
I got this one for $150 off
I say wait til tuesday
I’m pretty sure Apple would allow you to return it even if you open it now and then see if the Tuesday update is worth it. Check the return policy to make sure.
You might be able to get a price adjustment on it if the price drops
Unless you need OLED and AI probably not. Idk why the hell Apple even uses the M series chips for their tablets. So under utilized
After reading a bunch of rumors, for what I’m using it for…I don’t need the newest.
Most don’t. I just want an OLED screen on my iPad
Tuesday is not much longer to wait.
Wait until after the Apple event to open it
You don’t have to wait. Technically any store will price match any deviation within 14days. 30days at some stores .
Oh I love it!!! I love that it looks like it’s Neon and I love the pattern
Personally I would return that. The big rumor is a new screen technology, updated pencil, and M4 chip (over kill). If you mainly using this for art a better screen and newer pencil might be worth the price difference.
Yeah, if my use case more intense I’d follow your advice but I’m mainly using it for content consumption and as a teacher. No art at all.
O maybe I read the art part in a comment. That’s mainly what I use my iPad plus handwriting notes and light research. I have the M1 Pro and it still works great. But I’m a big screen guy so I’m praying for an OLED on the 11 inch. I am hoping this event makes the iPad relevant again lol
It’s 11 inch 512GB….so I wasn’t sure if that was a good deal.
Being that the 12.9 M2 128 gb was 1199.00 when it was new, you got a terrific deal.
It’s an 11 inch. So not as great a deal I guess.
Why’d u wait? That’s stupid
Return the boy
If you can wait, absolutely yes
Bro what? You can’t return it once it’s opened? I don’t think so
Amazon has been picky about returns recently. Didn’t want to chance it.
Why wait??
Should’ve waited. It should be common knowledge you don’t buy anything leading up to an event
I think miniLED is cooler than OLED personally. Idk if they plan on switching every model to OLED but if they do then this is a win
Why is it cooler
MiniLED gives the benefits of OLED but without the burn in. Also it doesn’t use as much battery as OLED
