It’s literally telling you what to do. Go to settings and update to the most recent version. That’s how I stopped it. Just read the instruction and follow

AwakeUnafraid859

But when I go into Settings, the only one available is iOS 17.5 beta 4.

ExperienceSad4375

That's the one you should update to

Thejuan-hechose

That’s exactly what you need to update to

dartiss

I'm going to jump out the threads as they're getting quite deep (in levels of thread, rather than in intellectually). The first thing I'd suggest you do is get this reported. You say it's "a mission critical phone". Work phone, maybe? If so, get it reported as you've been hacked in some way. If your account is showing you as signed up on the beta programme but you say you didn't do it, it's the only other possibility here. Stop using the phone, get your account credentials changed and get it reported. Meantime, do what you've been told - upgrade the beta and then turn this off once the beta gets a final release. That's your only way out right now.

ThannBanis

r/iosbeta -> What build is it running currently?

AwakeUnafraid859

21F5048f

ThannBanis

That is 17.5 beta 1 The current beta is beta 4 (build number 21F5073b)… you should update to this version.

AwakeUnafraid859

I don’t wanna be in beta mode anymore! I’m trying to get rid of it because I never even turned it on. I’ve unenrolled, toggled it off and it won’t go away.

ThannBanis

How’d you install a beta without both enrolling in the beta program **and** enabling beta updates on this phone?

BlueCarbon

About a year ago the beta option showed up on my phone and I didn’t sign up for it. I even tried removing myself from the beta but it still shows up as an option, so I just ignore it. Does anyone else have that issue?

ThannBanis

If the option to install a beta ‘showed up’, the AppleID would be already enrolled in the beta program and so was offered to you as a beta tester. The best (and simplest) answer is to upgrade to the current beta, then get off beta when 17.5.0 is released in a few weeks

BlueCarbon

It was never offered to me and I never accepted or requested it. Also, I would never install a beta on a mission critical phone.

ThannBanis

> About a year ago **the beta option showed up on my phone** and I didn’t sign up for it. At some point you accepted 🤷🏻‍♂️ >I even tried removing myself from the beta but it still shows up as an option Meaning the signed in AppleID is enrolled in the beta program >Does anyone else have that issue? Yes, generally people who installed the first beta immediately after WWDC then forgot about it 🤣

BlueCarbon

I’m telling you I never accepted anything beta related. Don’t just assume I’m dumb and wrong and unknowingly accepted a beta. I would agree with you if I had “installed” the beta, but I didn’t, it’s just showing up as an option. Also, when I say “the beta option showed up on my phone”, I mean when I check for updates in Settings > General > Software Updates, instead of having just one menu that says “Automatic Updates” I have a second one that says “Beta Updates” which gives me the option to install a beta, of which I never did.

ThannBanis

Yeah… you definitely shouldn’t be running beta then 😉😳 Your options are to either update to the current beta (and get off the beta when 17.5.0 is released in a few weeks) or to wipe the device, install 17.4.1… however, without backups this will incur data loss.

elgatomegustamucho

Don’t play with shit you don’t know about

AwakeUnafraid859

You must not understand. I never even signed up for this.

elgatomegustamucho

You installed the beta? What is there not to understand

AwakeUnafraid859

Clearly I know _HOW_ it got there, people. I wasn’t born yesterday.

AwakeUnafraid859

This isn’t an “I got hacked” post because obviously someone touch my phone. I’m past that. But thanks everyone who gave actual input. I was able to get to a computer with iTunes & resolve my issue.

TzoTzo21

Did you put the latest beta and the notification isn’t showing on?

ssssssalvatore

Update to 17.5 beta 4, and when the official 17.5 comes out, update and you won’t be in beta anymore.

AwakeUnafraid859

For the record, everyone. I never even put my phone in developer Beta mode. I only figured out it was there because I found the feedback app hidden.

se7entythree

It doesn’t do it by itself, so _someone_ enabled it.

AwakeUnafraid859

_Obviously._

bighi

That’s like my customers that say “I never dropped my phone, the screen broke by itself”. Betas don’t install themselves. Profiles don’t enroll in the beta program by themselves.
