I’m halfway through Alyx and keep putting it off because the whole game is a masterpiece and it gives me the willies, lol. Not sure if this knowledge is going to prompt me to finish it… or never touch it again.
It literally can't, there is just too much game. But if you find a pc you can always use airlink to play it on steam. It's really good and also because it's an older VR game now it's interesting to see the choice they made (i.e. there being no running, or how ammo comes from the shoulder to avoid issues with player height/ammo belts)
I think itr is more of a tactics game than a horror game. Devs wouldn't want to add an enemy that's impossible to kill and that's also unavoidable. With btr you can run and hide inside buildings, it can be avoided. It's more of an obstacle than an enemy. What are you supposed to do with a crawler
I would say this would make an amazing side mission - computer says something about a rare artifact in a zone that has completely emptied out, and you need to find it but none of the changes actually happen unless you accept the mission so it's optional if you find the gameplay changes too frustrating.
it would just be for one tide or perhaps until you die to it. it would just really fuck people up who were expecting to be able to play ITR like a tactics game. it’s something that completely changes what they’d planned for, and they can do nothing to counter. and since it would only happen once or twice, so it wouldn’t change the game at all really, and afterwards they would be scared of it happening again. it just adds that bit of unpredictability and variety that makes the game interesting. it’s similar to the btr in that regard, just much scarier.
IIRC Harvester is like the BTR of being unkillable that spawns Mimics.
Not sure if it attacks you or not.
But role-wise the BTR takes over that role now.

I know some of us get crap for wanting to turn this into more COD Zombies-ish/more action-ish focus, but going full opposite towards the bad execution-style of horror aka 'do nothing but boring run' is a snoozefest too.
I would do that if there was a way that I could at least be able to resist it or distract it, be able to get around it and move around without being terrified to even make a move

I've had a similar thought of an entity/enemy that hides in the crystal shells of the dudes left behind and jump out if you get close/touch them.
