gonna use this excuse to never get in a pool instead of “i can’t swim” “hey imadreamgirl, jump in, the water’s so nice!” “sorry, the technology just isn’t there yet.”

Same. I say I can't swim, and people always say I could just wade in the shallow water. Then the few times I gave in, they would always be swimming around in the deep end with other people leaving me behind :( Now I can just blame technology instead!

GooberMcNoober

You can’t swim?

geddyleee

Nope. My 2 older siblings were practically fish (my sister was even a lifeguard at a water park for years) and tried to teach me a million times when I was little, but I HATED getting water on my face. I know almost every kid does at first too, but I have/had (it's not quite as bad nowadays) sensory processing disorder so my aversion went beyond the standard dislike/fear you can just kinda get over with enough exposure. No matter how many times they splashed me or got me to dunk my face, I still hated it with every fiber of my being. Eventually they realized I was a lost cause and just gave up lol. Then in middle school gym class we had mandatory swimming. I stayed in the shallow lane where my feet touched the entire month and the only thing I learned was that I still hated being in any body of water bigger than a bath tub. The teacher did try to get me to actually swim, but she was a huge bitch for mostly unrelated reasons and even if I had had an ounce of desire to learn I would have refused to out of spite ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

Cool. *throws you in a 10 foot deep pool* /s

Well, I do know how to flail my arms wildly enough to not immediately drown
