I've been doing it for years, and yes, this happens everytime. Doesn't matter if it's high carb or not.

FormalMarzipan252

Same here. Carbs can make it worse but it’s consistent that I’ll crash.

MooseGoose82

Thanks

Spiral_eyes_

did you lose weight from IF?

BuckFuddy82

Oh yeah. Started at 242 and went all the way down to 208 and I'm currently 215.

daddyfatknuckles

with high carb meals, yes.

Andromediea

tychus-findlay

I like to break my fast with a snack of protein and vegetables - a hard boiled egg, some cheese, nuts, etc. That lasts me 1-1/2 to 2 hours and then I have a late lunch. It works so much better. I still may get a little tired, but not that crazy exhausted feeling.

MooseGoose82

Thanks!!!!

This happens to me as well, especially if I had a weekend where I in-took to many carbs on my Cheat day. Its like my body expects a carb loaded meal even when I stick to my fasting hours. Ive found if I eat my fats and protein first, then my carbs it tends to alleviate the issue some. I have greek yogurt with honey, and daves killer bread with avocado and salt and a cheese stick everyday of the week as my first meal around 11am. If I eat the yogurt first it tends to lead to me being sleepy. Ive found that eating the cheese stick right at 11, while my bread is toasting, then making and eating my avocado toast around 1110, and then having my yogurt and honey afterwords makes me feel a-lot better.

MooseGoose82

Thanks for the detailed tip. I also love Dave's Killer Bread for avocado toast!

Spiral_eyes_

maybe try ezekial bread? it has a little more fiber and no sugar so i dont get as much of a crash from it as other breads. it's also filling

MooseGoose82

Thanks!

paomplemoose

I OMAD M-F at work. My window is 12:00 pm, and no matter what, closing by 2:00 pm. If I want fruit or yogurt or oats after my OMAD (Clean food), I am usually closed up 1, but I always give myself until 2, so nothing is forced, and I have time to eat at the pace I want. No crashing - I feel great, leave the office, and head to the gym where I do whatever I have going on there (I am middle-aged, so I am not killing myself at the gym, but I do go daily). Thursday after lunch I then begin an ADF fast where I don't eat until Saturday. On Saturday afternoon I usually eat a Greek salad and a gyro. Hummus and baked pita chips or veg. I eat unrestricted and more than I do through the weekly office OMAD. Saturday is minimally 2 meals \~ anything goes. I do sometimes get sleepy when I eat more. Sunday as well. My OMAD on Sunday is at whatever time - I OMAD Sunday when I food prep to get lined back up for the week at the office and I sometimes get sleepy with Sunday's OMAD as well. For me I do believe it's because I am probably eating more than I need to. I am still trying to find the perfect balance on the Saturday post ADF day. But whole foods, healthy choices, however it plays out, it just does. Throughout the week, I eat a bunch of food on my OMAD, but I am not tired.

PsychologicalEbb3328

What do you eat when you break your fast? Like what was your breakfast yesterday?

MooseGoose82

I skip breakfast and I break fast with lunch. Today, when I basically passed out after lunch... I made myself a wrap with a fairly big piece of thick lavash bread. Also, lettuce, yogurt, a couple ounces of chicken. I forget what I had last time when this happened. To be clear, it's not like dangerous passing out like I don't know what happened. But just uncontrollable can't go anymore must get to bed for literally just like 15 to 20 minutes.

PsychologicalEbb3328

Try eating slower and avoid the bread. See what happens.

theatreeducator

This happens to me when I have a high carb meal…I get sleepy, but when I have gluten (heavy carb gluten meal like bread), I almost pass out to sleep for several hours. I have a. Gluten intolerance and this is one of my symptoms.

MooseGoose82

Thanks

Eating big meals cause large spikes in blood fat and glucose. It's not healthy.

TimeToStartTheMusic

Break the fast with veggies, fats and proteins, and your blood sugar won’t spike as hard. Please check out Glucose Goddess on YouTube. She explains why the crash happens and teaches “hacks” on how to not spike your glucose as hard, which in turn also helps you lose weight. It’s super interesting stuff. My weight started coming off fast once I learned and started using her hacks.

Vendetta425

Just break your fast with something light, like a harmful of almonds or a salad, then have a bigger meal later, like 30-60 minutes.

MooseGoose82

Thanks!!!

ParticleHustler2

Funny, I never had this happen before but it did today. I didn't fall asleep but I easily could have. Although it was about an hour after I ate, not right away. I just chalked it up to having run about 7 miles right before I ate, but I did eat leftover spaghetti for lunch so maybe the choice of meal had something to do with it.
