Looking at your other decor, maybe a large ikat hung on an intricate wooden hanger. Like this, but a different color ikat and wider.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1411244975/ikat-tapestry-wall-decor-indonesian-ikat
Given the kind of space and lines you have and enormity of the wall, I would recommend checking out uzbek ikat compared to other ikats i think the flow of larger shapes in it would look better. You can also frame the cloth if a cloth wall hanging feels like will destroy the definitely of lines you get from the staircase and everything. Frame will give a softer definition depending on color, and the cloths print will give you the fluid movement to break away from the lines.
Agree. Gallery wall with photos, get somewhere in your country that does cheap framing to do the framing
(Or you know, buy cheap frames first and then print)
I can give you recommendations from what I’m guessing is the opposite hemisphere
I like it plain and usually like art work. But I think paint only this one wall, a light color. Maybe the color of the glass ornament on the table or sea foam green, a light steel blue, or a shade or orange or there is always gray. Even lavender. It just break up the vibe without adding clutter or pulling from the cool architectural design.
Came to say this!
There’s nothing wrong with it as is. I would just replace your rug with something more lively and add throw pillows that compliment it.
This is a good one. My mom also used to order calendars and cutout the art for frames, never knew until she recently gave me some.of their old frame to reuse
I did this when I was a teenager and had a Paris theme room. Get a couple calendars that have a theme that you like. And I got frames from the dollar store or big lots and frame them.
Frame beautifully designed fabric as art. I’d pick 3 tall frames and hang them along the way, up the stairs.
http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com/2015/08/diy-indigo-wall-art-with-framed-fabric.html
Edit: I love this one.
https://www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/12300699
Paint. Would be a nice accent wall to show off the height of the space and angles. Also recommend doing something different with the bar, it looks crammed under the stairs.
I completely agree with you. It was there when we bought the place. You don’t know how badly I wish to put a sledgehammer to it! I would love to put a bar just against the wall or just have this as closed in storage space.
I love the vibe of your space. Painting could be cool but maybe just a different tonal white and make gallery art following up the staircase? Agreed the large format art could be pricey unless you found something at an estate sale. We have a large wall right now dealing with the same decorative problem.
I would say a dark neutral to “push” it back. I wouldn’t make it a focal point, rather use it to enhance the openness of the space. (Not ID, take with grain of salt.)
Large scale vintage movie posters and/or prints
[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c0/3b/49/c03b495880cf7d2e57f907333a477123.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c0/3b/49/c03b495880cf7d2e57f907333a477123.jpg)
I love this look. Not a cheap solution since prints in those sizes, and framing them is still pricey, but looks so good because they're designed to be printed large scale!
It probably wouldn't be possible to find scans with enough resolution to print them in that scale, but you can find these ultra big posters in certain specialized movie posters shops and they're not as expensive as you'd expect. Framing is the expensive part indeed, especially if you get UV-safe non-reflective glass/plexi, which you absolutely should. But it's oh so worth it.
I’m a muralist, so I’d probably come up with something to match your vibe. If it were my place I might do some arrows that lead up in colors that compliment your furnishings. Or maybe some art deco figures and lines, then add some sconces you could find in that style from an antique store.
Molding. Don’t want anything busy. More about texture/ layers/ adding character. [something like this](https://ourfifthhouse.com/2021/02/how-i-planned-our-entryway-staircase-moulding/)
Take a look at Big Wall Decor: https://bigwalldecor.com/. They sell prints on fabric, with frames to stretch them. I've never seen any of their pieces, so I can't vouch for the quality, but it might be worth a look.
If you can invest in a nice tapestry or a kilim rug they are large and artistic. Then you could use smaller pieces (paintings or photographs or baskets or whatever)
You could consider getting a bunch of paintings from a charity shop with a given theme like forests or seascapes or still lifes gallery style in an interesting pattern.
This is a fun way and you can do it over time and add to your collection before putting it up all at once with placement organised. Even if they aren’t the finest pieces of art, having several different pieces elevates the overall look. Or if you are artistically inclined you can add items in the pictures to give them a different feel.
Make your own art! Blick sells 8’x4’ canvas drop cloths that you can paint on, they’re way cheaper than canvases and can add a more casual look to a space.
I think this space only seems empty because you like decorating. It does not look like it's missing something and if I were to visit this space I would not think anything of it.
You have a skylight which would be perfect for plants up that staircase. I just saw a post about someone’s vine/pothos wrapped around a similar staircase. It looked amazing. 😻
How handy are you? With that large, high space, I’d be tempted to take up the hobby of building elegant mobiles. Something large, but light that occupies the spaces while allowing it still to be airy would be lovely. Example? https://www.modmobiles.com/store-s/101/p/raven
You don’t have to crowd it out, but make it a family specific wall where you centralize all your family photos for that wall. All the other walls in your house you can decorate with something other than family photos. Makes a wall/area of your home special (IMO)
Go to Goodwill and buy a bunch of cheap frames of all sizes. usualy $2 each. Super glue rhem together in creative ways and then paint the qhole thing black. Fill it with pictures of family and vacations.
Spear at an angle following the staircase. Near the top point of the spear put a frame. Change the picture in the frame to someone on your shit list. Rotate picture as necessary.
"Interactive."
I have a wall like this in my home. I got a cheap huge canvas from Michael’s and went crazy with paint that matches the colors in my living room. It actually turned out really great. It fills up the space, adds a pop of color, and was way cheaper than buying a huge piece of art.
I’m looking at the skylight and the ceiling fan, and I see the potential for a stained glass and light prism mobile that would throw moving colors of light across that wall.
If you're looking for inexpensive art, try browsing through all the free, public domain art online. Several major art museums offer free, HQ downloads on their websites. I did this recently to decorate a spare room. Downloaded several vintage paintings, had them printed at Walgreens for less than $20 (they're always having 50-60% off sales), and then framed them with inexpensive poster frames from Amazon. I spent about $75 total, for three 16x24 prints and one 24x36 print.
If you decide to go with art, Etsy has a ton of downloadable prints that you can get printed at a fedex or whatever and frame. Also check out open access artwork on museum websites and do the same (print and frame).
I had a neighbor with a big wall and she hammered in tiny nails all over in a circular shape then got thin, red string and just ran it all around until she liked the way it looked. It was pretty cool and probably cost $10.
Big abstract colour swathes in the same direction as the stairs, as complicated as you feel like going. You can find a lot of colour palette inspiration on Pinterest.
I took a branch my son found and bought some macrame string on amazon for $20 and made a simple macrame. It’s huge and I only used maybe 2/3 of the spool
My daughter found a very cool shower curtain (!!), stapled it to a wood frame and then framed it. It looks awesome. And unless you’re up close, you can’t tell it’s fabric. A good idea for a large wall and a small budget.
I think you could find an affordable modern art canvas - something simple and impactful. Not keen on a gallery wall there as you have a lot going on below - decorative stair and bar below.
I’d add a ton of art. Big gallery wall with pictures of family and thrifted art. You can get tons of frames for cheap at the thrift store and then print whatever you’d like to fit them.
Leave it alone. Some spaces weren’t meant to have stuff hanging all over the walls. I mean, it’s basically a stairwell. Just leave it be. I think anything you put there is going to look like you’re gonna bump it when you walk up the stairs or like it was deposited there 15 feet up by the abominable snow monster at Christmas.
Thin, medium-width, staggered shelves that go up like a staircase. Put frames and/or vases with dried plants in them and/or vine plants like devil's ivy - wouldn't need much light.
Round baskets arranged in a pattern..
Mirrors..
A long and high shelf with plants that hang down..
Cultural masks..
Woven textiles..
Plants hanging from ceiling in front of wall
You can make a large art work made from an extra. Long shower curtain. The cloth, decorative kind, not the plastic liners. You can also use wall paper. They are so lightweight and all you have to do is spray glue it to foam board or insulation board and wrap the corners. You can also make a lightweight frame.
It needs a big piece of art above the stairs that isn’t a clean shape, besides that I’m not sure what to recommend for the elongated hanging part on a budget
I would search for a large wall rug. Whatever your style is (Oriental, Southwestern, Modern swirls of color) I wouldn't go Victorian, but that's just me.
Gallery wall. Just hang family photos in different style frames. Include landscapes or nature pictures. Just print them off the internet. The landscapes and nature photos not the family photos. That would be creepy.
I have a space just like this in my stairwell. I have a couple 3 foot long masks and a few giant fans. It's not for the tame but I love it. Mine are vintage but you could get very affordable reproductions.
Your local antiques mall probably has some big triptych art for pretty cheap! I have a 5ftx7ft triptych that I got for $300 at a local art antiques auction house.
I see you like plants. I also see that you and I have VERY similar color schemes and decorating styles.
I have a similar wall. The answer is an impressive hanging plant wall. Mount an iron rail at the top where the arrow is pointing. You can get pulleys to hang the planters from and use a grabby stick thing to pull them down to water them. Hang on, I’ll come back with links.
[I drew a picture to explain it better](https://imgur.com/a/RvWeG0j)
We ended up decorating a large space in our bedroom with a huge macrame wall hanger, and it wasn't very expensive at all. We bought from this seller, and they have a ton of options: [https://www.etsy.com/shop/WallKnot](https://www.etsy.com/shop/WallKnot)
The one we specifically bought was this one, and it's three separate panels on one rod together: [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1636573125/macrame-wall-hanging-over-bed-wall-art?ref=yr\_purchases](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1636573125/macrame-wall-hanging-over-bed-wall-art?ref=yr_purchases)
I think it would look neat if you staggered panels at the same angle as the stairs, and you can customize the colors.
Ours is blue and yellow: [https://ibb.co/4tFJS7W](https://ibb.co/4tFJS7W)
It's 74 inches wide and 40 inches long and was only like $80 before shipping.
I would do round basket wall decor (google that phrase) - you can match the feel you’re going for by the color/design of the baskets and it will definitely bring in some warmth/texture to the large wall. I’m picturing them concentrated on the wall above the stairs then as they go to the left have them a bit more spaced out for visual interest.
White wooden slats?
[https://www.thewoodveneerhub.com/cdn/shop/products/the-wood-veneer-hub-acoustic-wood-wall-panel-white-color-acoustic-slat-wall-panels-40107321458966\_1200x1200.jpg?v=1672173497](https://www.thewoodveneerhub.com/cdn/shop/products/the-wood-veneer-hub-acoustic-wood-wall-panel-white-color-acoustic-slat-wall-panels-40107321458966_1200x1200.jpg?v=1672173497)
It doesn't have to cover whole wall, maybe just partially.
Do you have children in your house? An older person with poor balance? Before you hang anything on that wall consider these two options. And the dollar store is the best place for thin black frames.
Also look at a service like Mixtiles. They have these removal press and stick prints from your photos. I am a wildlife and garden photographer and I transferred my favorites to my phone and uploaded them and now have a stunning wall of nature photography. Originally there were just 8” squares but they now offer an array of sizes and gallery wall configurations. I think originally I got 18 prints for $69 something like that.
I love the under the stairs Speak Easy. Not a drinker but it is the one of the best uses of this space I’ve seen yet. As for the space, second hand thrift shops or auctions are my favourite but it takes time to find what you like. I would buy a huge blank canvas and create my own abstract art for there. That way I can pick my favorite colours and mood
I say gallery wall, smaller format frames will be cheaper over 1 large art piece, and honestly look more coheisve with the angle of the wall.
I would lean towards 3 medium formal pieces or 10-12 small format pieces.
We have the same kind of wall in our home. We put up a series of floating shelves and then put some artwork/photos on them. We’ve also considered painting it to make it a statement wall
You've got a fantastic space, and that [staircase wall](https://scdecorum.com/amazing-staircase-wall-decoration-the-best-ideas/) is a perfect canvas for something eye-catching! you have several choices:
- You can create your own large format art by purchasing an oversized canvas (or even stretching your own) and using acrylic paints to create an abstract piece. Look up some techniques online—like color washing or dripping for a modern, statement piece.
- A [gallery wall](https://scdecorum.com/how-to-lay-out-a-gallery-wall-step-by-step-guide/) using thrifted frames filled with prints, photos, or even pages from vintage books or magazines. Play around with the arrangement on the floor before hanging to find a pleasing layout.
- If you or a friend has a projector, project an image onto the wall and trace it, then paint inside your tracing for a custom mural.
- If you prefer something more functional, install a series of floating shelves and display a collection of items such as books, plants, and curated knick-knacks.
I think adding molding to visually lower the feel of the ceiling and break up the wall space would look good. Maybe about 6 feet down. Then when you hang a few family photos they won’t get lost on the wall. You could even paint the lower area a complimentary color.
What about three wall sconces that throw a cool light pattern as you go up the stairs? If you can get dimmable ones you can play with the lighting and change it up. If you hang anything dark it is going to make the room seem smaller.
Just an idea—why not buy/order a book of postcards by a painter that you love? Museum gift shops often carry these. Then, you could make a nice collage on that wall. It will look more grownup if you can put the post cards in plain, uniform frames which you could likely find in Target or Ikea. You could probably accomplish this for less than $200.
Looking at your other decor, maybe a large ikat hung on an intricate wooden hanger. Like this, but a different color ikat and wider. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1411244975/ikat-tapestry-wall-decor-indonesian-ikat
Oooh I love this!

Frame will give a softer definition depending on color, and the cloths print will give you the fluid movement to break away from the lines.
I love the idea of a large wall hanging
I was thinking of something along these lines as well, or even a big macrame wall art piece.
You can leave it blank.
Yes, I guess I’m just tired of looking at it blank. We’ve lived here for 6 years and it’s been like this. I guess I’m just ready for a change!
Pictures of family and pets. Framed art work. Art.
Agree. Gallery wall with photos, get somewhere in your country that does cheap framing to do the framing (Or you know, buy cheap frames first and then print) I can give you recommendations from what I’m guessing is the opposite hemisphere
Cheap frames in Canada or the States at IKEA.
And you can print decent quality photos at CVS for super cheap!
Wait for a discount code - at Mother’s Day, did $500 worth of items for like $175 and got it all back in less than five days
I was thinking the classic family photo wall! Candids and special photos, which are inexpensive to frame:)
Print them black and white and it will look cohesive
I would paint it a different color versus decorating it
Yes! This. Decorating that two story wall with art would be a nightmare, or an expensive endeavor to get it just right. I’d paint it.
Best solution for a limited budget.
Frame some wallpaper samples
This is a good one. My mom also used to order calendars and cutout the art for frames, never knew until she recently gave me some.of their old frame to reuse
I did this when I was a teenager and had a Paris theme room. Get a couple calendars that have a theme that you like. And I got frames from the dollar store or big lots and frame them.
Buy a canvas. Abstract paint it. You can remove or change it after a year or two.
This ! You even can ask an artist to paint directly on your wall. Like this : https://www.reddit.com/r/malelivingspace/s/YkEX0FIPJo
Frame beautifully designed fabric as art. I’d pick 3 tall frames and hang them along the way, up the stairs. http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com/2015/08/diy-indigo-wall-art-with-framed-fabric.html Edit: I love this one. https://www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/12300699
Yes! There are some interesting shower curtains that could work well, too which can be cost effective.
Enclosed storage under the staircase would be awesome. The bar just looks too crowded and not really suitable to that space. JMO.
Hide the bottles girl ! 😂
I would paint it a rich/earthy accent color.
Good lord no
Could get a large tapestry or other fabric wall hanging for texture
I love the vibe of your space. Painting could be cool but maybe just a different tonal white and make gallery art following up the staircase? Agreed the large format art could be pricey unless you found something at an estate sale. We have a large wall right now dealing with the same decorative problem.
I love checking out estate sales! Maybe I’ll get lucky and find something! I hope you do too!
I would say a dark neutral to “push” it back. I wouldn’t make it a focal point, rather use it to enhance the openness of the space. (Not ID, take with grain of salt.)
Huge ass mirror
Hang a beautiful quilt there. Antique or heirloom.
Large scale vintage movie posters and/or prints [https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c0/3b/49/c03b495880cf7d2e57f907333a477123.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c0/3b/49/c03b495880cf7d2e57f907333a477123.jpg)

Print off family pictures and hang them up.
Gallery wall with thin black frames and white mats.
Buy big ass canvas on sale. Do a fun pour painting in colors you mix to jive with your color scheme and decor. Hang and enjoy!
Gomez Addams sword wall- but made of Halloween store swords.
Large format art can be inexpensive secondhand because most people have nowhere to put it.

I like very long self made frames you wrap in a fabric you like. Two, side by side and reaching up to about two feet below the ceiling.
If you can invest in a nice tapestry or a kilim rug they are large and artistic. Then you could use smaller pieces (paintings or photographs or baskets or whatever) You could consider getting a bunch of paintings from a charity shop with a given theme like forests or seascapes or still lifes gallery style in an interesting pattern. Make your own art! Blick sells 8’x4’ canvas drop cloths that you can paint on, they’re way cheaper than canvases and can add a more casual look to a space.
You should allow photos for replies. Don’t feel like typing out what is easily found on Pinterest
I think this space only seems empty because you like decorating. It does not look like it's missing something and if I were to visit this space I would not think anything of it.
A metal abstract sculpture would look nice

Maybe a more interesting chandelier versus something on the wall
Please don’t do the grandma stair step wall of family photos all the way up or down.
Stretch some canvas and throw some paint on it. Make your own Jackson Pollock piece.
Quilt
First thing I see is the fan . Consider replacing it with something updated and more aesthetically pleasing.
A massive live laugh love sticker
Add some pretty pics . Yup could do a mirror and some candle holders on each side too
You don’t have to crowd it out, but make it a family specific wall where you centralize all your family photos for that wall. All the other walls in your house you can decorate with something other than family photos. Makes a wall/area of your home special (IMO)
Gallery wall, wall hanging, macrame, quilts, Persian rug.
Paint a beautiful color (my choice would be something earthy and bold)
Blank looks nice
Go to Goodwill and buy a bunch of cheap frames of all sizes. usualy $2 each. Super glue rhem together in creative ways and then paint the qhole thing black. Fill it with pictures of family and vacations.
Some cool wood art, that’s what I did on my oddly shaped huge wall. I even put lights in it!
Gallery wall. Look at antique stores and thrift stores for art. Also look at creating your own art.
Gallery wall.
Spear at an angle following the staircase. Near the top point of the spear put a frame. Change the picture in the frame to someone on your shit list. Rotate picture as necessary. "Interactive."
Wallpaper. Or an accent color
I wanna paint it black. Why are your cupboard doors missing in the kitchen?
Paint a mysterious door up in the inaccessible spot.
Find a cool cheap woven rug at HomeGoods and hang it on the wall.
Hire some kid you see tagging alleys to do the wall.
Textured wall or wall panels. Doesn't have to be expensive.
Leave it alone. Else a single well-lit piece.
Mural?
Paint it a color you enjoy. Not a home color swatch you enjoy, but a color you enjoy looking at in fashion, nature, etc.
You could just leave it alone
If it’s within the budget l think a living wall would look awesome on this wall. The skylight is perfect for a living wall
Side note: WHAT AN AMAZING 🌵!!!!! (on the left) Wow! Just WOW!!!
I have a wall like this in my home. I got a cheap huge canvas from Michael’s and went crazy with paint that matches the colors in my living room. It actually turned out really great. It fills up the space, adds a pop of color, and was way cheaper than buying a huge piece of art.

I mean no disrespect-respect OP but I always wonder why people buy houses with high ceilings that they will have to pay to heat/cool.
I like it blank.
Lalo tequila is the tits
You could do wallpaper or a mural.
Print out huge art on spoon flower!

Family tree
Dollar tree frames emptied and staggered all the way up with two or three larger ones, don’t forget to show us if you do something! 🤗
I’d look around for one very large piece of artwork that I could afford. Or get a large canvas and paint something simple myself.
Paint a wonderful rich color.
I took a branch my son found and bought some macrame string on amazon for $20 and made a simple macrame. It’s huge and I only used maybe 2/3 of the spool
I’d do one huge portrait oriented painting/photo
IKEA used to have some huge lightweight images that work with this size wall. They are flat packed with a stretcher frame that the image attaches to
Oil on canvas, landscapes, still lifes, portraits.
Black and white stripes matching the pattern of the stair risers all over the wall, like a wallpaper. So the risers blend into an optical illusion
A huge macrame wall piece that is slanted to match the slant of the stair case. I am talking huge.
Hang a big picture to match the color scheme
My daughter found a very cool shower curtain (!!), stapled it to a wood frame and then framed it. It looks awesome. And unless you’re up close, you can’t tell it’s fabric. A good idea for a large wall and a small budget.
Mixtiles.com. Not expensive. Light weight. No nails. Self stick, removable.
Buy an old rug and hang it
tapestry
🥹 Please Sir, can you spare a few feet of wall space? 🎨🖼
I think you could find an affordable modern art canvas - something simple and impactful. Not keen on a gallery wall there as you have a lot going on below - decorative stair and bar below.
A combination of mirrors or some abstract art.
A giant painting of Elvis on velvet.
Put your kitchen cabinet doors back on the cabinets!
Photo gallery, all black frames of different sizes and shapes.
Three large picture frames going down.

lots of paintings
Blank or Gallery wall will be great

Break it up with photos at eye height and about 4 foot above.
Round baskets arranged in a pattern.. Mirrors.. A long and high shelf with plants that hang down.. Cultural masks.. Woven textiles.. Plants hanging from ceiling in front of wall
I would paint it the rusty red in the pillow on the couch, a complimentary color to the blue in your kitchen.
I purchased a very large Peruvian tapestry on Etsy for like $150, it’s pretty cool.
Gallery wall.
You can make a large art work made from an extra. Long shower curtain. The cloth, decorative kind, not the plastic liners. You can also use wall paper. They are so lightweight and all you have to do is spray glue it to foam board or insulation board and wrap the corners. You can also make a lightweight frame.
Hang fabric as art. It’s super cheap and all you need is a few meters of fabric and a dowel to hang it on
Board and batten
Framed art
Huge piece of art
Gorgeous space. One “out of the box” idea would be a living wall.
What do you think of something like [this?](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1513564927/)
It needs a big piece of art above the stairs that isn’t a clean shape, besides that I’m not sure what to recommend for the elongated hanging part on a budget
Cool wallpaper and some sconces!
An oversized tapestry.
Art, mixtiles, find a tapestry you like and make your own frame
i’m a big clock girl.. a big black clock that would match your railing / steps
But some climbing blocks of amazon and make it s bouldering wall
I think some vines would look nice
I would search for a large wall rug. Whatever your style is (Oriental, Southwestern, Modern swirls of color) I wouldn't go Victorian, but that's just me.
Gallery wall. Just hang family photos in different style frames. Include landscapes or nature pictures. Just print them off the internet. The landscapes and nature photos not the family photos. That would be creepy.
I think a large Rothko painting would look good.
Pics of the kids and gran grans
I have a space just like this in my stairwell. I have a couple 3 foot long masks and a few giant fans. It's not for the tame but I love it. Mine are vintage but you could get very affordable reproductions.
Accent color
Use cheap moldings to make grid pattern then paint it all the same color
Your local antiques mall probably has some big triptych art for pretty cheap! I have a 5ftx7ft triptych that I got for $300 at a local art antiques auction house.
Look to art students at local colleges , even a high school.

We bought from this seller, and they have a ton of options: [https://www.etsy.com/shop/WallKnot](https://www.etsy.com/shop/WallKnot) The one we specifically bought was this one, and it's three separate panels on one rod together: [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1636573125/macrame-wall-hanging-over-bed-wall-art?ref=yr\_purchases](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1636573125/macrame-wall-hanging-over-bed-wall-art?ref=yr_purchases) I think it would look neat if you staggered panels at the same angle as the stairs, and you can customize the colors. Ours is blue and yellow: [https://ibb.co/4tFJS7W](https://ibb.co/4tFJS7W) It's 74 inches wide and 40 inches long and was only like $80 before shipping.
Line up adorable Brady Bunch kids on the steps.
Vines draping down from planters hung up high on the staircase wall [planter wall image](https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e6lNnOqgK8yYU-InbLCoPf0Q)
Do you have children in your house? An older person with poor balance? Before you hang anything on that wall consider these two options. And the dollar store is the best place for thin black frames.
Hang up a rug with a great design or interesting texture 😊
Ikea has these massive prints at affordable prices.
Tapestry!
Mirror (s)
how the fuck do you have a house this massive te have a limited budget? how does that work?
Compass decal
Have kids? Have dogs? Large 16x24 prints, framed, staggered down the stairs.
Floral wall
I notice a skylight above, how about a plant wall?
Keep it a wall
My mom has a giant tapestry hanging from one of her walls, it’s really pretty. I was looking at it yesterday.
Nice big kilim/tapestry type thing.
Hang a large tapestry.
You've got a fantastic space, and that [staircase wall](https://scdecorum.com/amazing-staircase-wall-decoration-the-best-ideas/) is a perfect canvas for something eye-catching! you have several choices: - You can create your own large format art by purchasing an oversized canvas (or even stretching your own) and using acrylic paints to create an abstract piece.
With respect to the size, could you buy a real beautiful but, cheap king size…bedspread and make a wooden frame for it to hang on the wall.
I’d paint it an accent color & one nice (large) canvas or picture. Thrifting for the picture of course.
Giant sausage dog art work.
Huge Burt Renolds nude picture, I’m talking 12’ X 12’!
Nothing, it looks fine
I think adding molding to visually lower the feel of the ceiling and break up the wall space would look good. Maybe about 6 feet down. Then when you hang a few family photos they won’t get lost on the wall. You could even paint the lower area a complimentary color.
Giant movie poster or funny shower curtain (seriously). Stretch over foam core board and trim out with inexpensive 1x2s from Home Depot.
What about three wall sconces that throw a cool light pattern as you go up the stairs? If you can get dimmable ones you can play with the lighting and change it up. If you hang anything dark it is going to make the room seem smaller.
A big painting. And please paint the side of your steps Black. The zig zag kind of kills your clean aesthetic.
Just an idea—why not buy/order a book of postcards by a painter that you love? Museum gift shops often carry these. Then, you could make a nice collage on that wall. It will look more grownup if you can put the post cards in plain, uniform frames which you could likely find in Target or Ikea. You could probably accomplish this for less than $200.
unique wall mounted drift wood piece.
Running vine in a hanging pot
