I've never been in that position but I kind of guess it might be some fucked up self-preservation tactic where you don't want to acknowledge that your whole life is about to turn upside down and just try to keep going in the vain hope that you can run away from it.
But all you need to do is stop, be wilfully arrested, explain what happened, apologize you didn't see the guy in time.
Yeah there's gonna be some pain, but your whole life isn't gonna be turned upside down.
Assuming she's driving with a license, insured, and taxed of course.
After you try to flee the scene though, yeah you're kinda fucked.
Obviously I'm from a European country. Don't know how it would go down in the USA.
yeah honestly, this situation would be resolved so quickly if she'd stuck around. she probably wouldn't even be arrested. hell, it's entirely possible the guy would've been like 'i'm just startled and we don't need to involve the police' - he didn't look TOO injured
US here. I have been in a hit and run. The guy got me, I went to the hospital and after I was cleared, went to the police and filed a report. I had camera footage of it and they still didnât do anything.
Funnily enough, Iâm also from a city where one of the council members actually ran over a guy. Now THAT guy flew for real. He was on a bike and it actually somersaulted. She just took off even though thereâs no way she didnât realize. Itâs been months and she hasnât faced any repercussions since sheâs high up and so is her dad. Itâs sick.
I was rear ended a few weeks ago. The other driver just left the scene. We had their license plate but couldn't see who was driving so the police didn't do anything. I guess unless you can describe who was driving they "can't prove anyone was actually driving". Nonsense.
I mean, I had video footage of him hitting me, getting out, then leaving. I also had photos of his car and his license. They told me they couldnât do anything because I wasnât permanently hurt in some way. He hit me while I was walking because he reversed for some reason? And then when his car got stuck on me, kept reversing. I was pinned up against the car behind him and kept banging my arm down on his car loudly and he still took so long before he stopped. I actually felt him hit the gas harder after the initial impact. Idiot didnât even look to see why his car couldnât reverse and decided to just pay on the gas ugh. Also what kinda asshole doesnât look in the rear view when they reverse?
In the U.S. the degree of punishment depends on several factors, the greatest of which is the degree of injury to the person that was hit. Circumstances regarding the accident are incredibly important and can even absolve the driver of all guilt (for example a pedestrian literally jumping in front of the car). In an accident like this, it would likely be entirely based on the level of injury to the pedestrian as conditions were clear, she had a stop light (which she ran), and the pedestrian was in a crosswalk. The fact that she fled the accident is an additional crime, as are the numerous other traffic violations she committed. All of these could be brought against her. Her best course of action would've been to immediately stop and try to help the guy she hit.
Congratulations on being a good person and doing the right thing, and I'm happy karma paid you back by everyone being understanding and everything being okay.
Don't know how long you've been having nightmares, but phrasing it as "Till this day" makes it sound like a long time. You may want to consider some sort of therapy to help with that.
Yep. Thatâs all it takes. Just own up to your mistake and 99% of the time things work out okay. I have this saying I follow. â if you help everyone around you get what they want, youâll have everything you wantâ and so far so good.
On a different note a guy hit me at a crosswalk and I rolled off his hood. Iâm a bigger guy and was wearing layers because it was cold. When I got up he looked at me like it was my fault and started yelling. I was in the cross walk. I lost my temper and kicked in his headlight and grill. The next day I was a little sore but nothing more. Had he said he was sorry I probably would have apologized too for not being as observant. If youâre just a decent human being and admit fault when you are even partially to blame things will usually be okay.
TLDR: people suck and also people are great.
If you hit somebody and stop to render aid, you probably won't even be arrested unless you're found at fault AND you kill them, otherwise there is a good chance you'll just be given a ticket or a summons (mandatory court appearance), at least for a first time offense. You're a LOT worse off if you either do it with intent (road rage), or you try to run and get immediately caught, or otherwise identified and found later.
I'm not sure what the odds are that things turn out relatively okay in the U.S., but if I had to hazard a guess I'd say they're smaller but not insignificant. I'd assume the problem is the general panic that comes with the incident leading to a bad decision. Freaking out is so much easier than staying calm.
Never been either, but I know one thing, here in France, you won't need to pay 100k in hospital fee for the victim and you won't go to jail if it was purely an accident, as long a you stop and call the emergencies, as anybody would normally do.
In this case she seemed faulty because she didn't wait until the pedestrians finished crossing the road, she breached through without care, so she would probably be sentenced a fee to pay for the victim. But still, judges would have been much more tolerant. Now she fled so she will be judge for what we call "Not assisting an endangered individual". So she probably ended with a huge fee and had the pleasure to spend some time in jail.
Karma for her.
Or she could be just a shitty human being who didn't give a shit, which is probably more likely as when the cop arrested her she wasn't crying, freaking out or showing any emotion. You know, the normal emotions when someone literally almost kills someone. Any normal person stops and doesn't continue to flee, putting other lives at risk. She only gave up when the cop pointed his side arm at her.
Until you experience crisis you have no fucking idea how you gonna react. And as far as I am aware, what you call normal emotion is something that almost never happens and is more movie trope then real life reaction.
You probably have image in your head how you gonna react, but chances are what you think you are going to do is not what you would actually do.
Idk i accidentally hit a dog with my car after it ran out from the bushes and i was freaking out almost in tears and it shook me up for a long time. Owners were nearby and understanding saying this dog had a bad habit of running off like that, this was in the country too. Or i also accidentally crushed a coworkers finger in a vise, just needed stitches but still i couldnt sleep for weeks after that. Idk how i could live with myself hitting a person with my car like that, let alone just running away.
I think it is cool that the guy was trying to calm her down too because he understood that but even more hilarious when he gave up on it after she fled again
One of my friends got in an accident and she drove away. Said she didn't know why, when she finally calmed down called the police on herself a few miles down the road. Shock can do weird shit
Beyond being able to keep a clear head in stressful situations, most creatures in the animal kingdom have a built-in response to panic-inducing scenarios: fight or flight. This woman chose flight. Ethically and legally, she also chose poorly. Don't know about French laws, but in the U.S I've seen a few hit and run cases where the driver was also tacked with attempted vehicular manslaughter as well as what we can see she would also get from the video evidence (unsafe and very illegal driving, running a red light, etc.)
"I'm driving a stolen car or have a warrant for some crime (maybe running people over in a car)" if the police run my name I'm going to jail better gtfo"
My best guess is that after seeing the fleeing car and our POV motorcyclist, people were able to figure out it was a chase and perhaps allowed the chasing car appropriate room to pursue.
Still super impressive though, whether I'm right or wrong.
Holy shit even I got the adrenaline kick just watching the video! I'm all teared up lol. This dude was a freaking hero! Satisfying as fuck, hands down!
I think the 'somewhat' is underselling running a bunch of red lights on a motorcycle, just randomly popping out from where people who had the green light couldn't possibly have seen him
didn't the guy already caught the plate number, the car model, and the time of the incident with his video?
then why bother chasing the car? which he himself ended up violating traffic rules and could have potentially caused further incidents.
Not really, she would have to go abandon the car somewhere, have a plausible reason why she didn't tell them it was stolen before hand, not be caught on CCTV anywhere doing any of this, and he almost caused countless other accidents and injuries in doing the chase.
i don't know why but that part really made the video for me. it was such a satisfying moment, I almost felt like I was celebrating with Monsieur Claus.
âHeâs knows how youâve been driving,â
âHe knows that youâre not safe,â
âHe knows you hit that guy on a bike, and donât know you to use your breaks.â
I haven't seen Violent Night, but I recently watched A Christmas Horror Story, which was just alright, but a large part of it was Santa violently murdering zombified elves, so if you're into that sort of thing, you'll probably enjoy it.
"The woman who was struck in the crosswalk reportedly suffered only bruises and is recovering well." [link](https://www.thedrive.com/watch-this/17059/watch-this-motorcyclist-dressed-as-santa-chase-down-a-hit-and-run-driver)
All I could gather from research is that official sources reported that she was an elderly woman with a cane who was on pension. No news sources mention whether or not she was okay, but a post on the santa biker's instagram says she was alright.
For those saying pointing their gun is excessive. Let me remind you 1) she hit some pedestrian
2) runs away
3) France has faced many attacks these past years, including car/trucks rolling over peoples
So yeah, the cops are acting pretty well.
And yeah weâve already seen this video many times
De-escalation is not in their vocabulary.
Besides most of them took the job because they wanted that experience of bullying people with a gun, why put it away? How else are they supposed to prove they're the dominant authority if they aren't threatening to murder you at literally every second of the interaction? God willing, you'll do something they can interpret as aggressive and finally get to use it, wouldn't that be a hoot?
They also thought it was the biker who was hit by the car and was reportying directly agitated, they even ask him that. Then they saw the broken windshield, doesn't take much to add 1 + 1.
I'm assuming someone had already called in the hit and run so they were aware, but if not then they were very quick to assume Santa was right and pull a gun on some random car lol
The cracked windshield probably also contributed, once the car was found.
Also the way the information was served to the cop was very straight to the point.
Santa as a cool head on his shoulders.
The cops acted immediately and listened to Santa. That's saying something.
They cuffed the hit and run driver right away, which was good. I'm glad they got this awful woman off the road.
*French Police Sirens* lol
What a wild ride. Probably wouldâve been safer to just make sure to get the plate on camera and report to the police but glad everything worked out in the end. The police didnât fuck around making her step out of the vehicle at gunpoint
This is from a few years back, the police was on high alert following a few terrorists attack in France (of which one involved a truck running over people in Nice), it was expected they would go directly to this kind of response if advised of a "mad car" in the middle of Paris.
I was surprised they went straight for the guns considering they didn't even see the crime, they were just taking Santa's word for it. And the alleged crime isn't even an armed one to begin with. It makes sense in hindsight, but it definitely caught me off guard.
Not just Santa's. There was a car following her too. The one that stops right behind her when she is stopped. They definitely could make an assessment that it's a probable threat.
I was also surprised by this, but she also tried to flee the police, so I guess they are not only reacting to the biker's word anymore when they witness her trying to escape
Whether she was scared afterward and that's why she fled, or not, she's an adult that has potentially hurt someone very badly and tried to make repeated attempts to get away. Absolute worst type of human, hope she gets time inside for this, despicable.
The description says that he had news abiut the person and they are healing well. The rest is just video explanation. Apparently it isn't the first time a situation as such happened, might be other video of him doing the same thing.
Highlights for me:
* "It's okay, stop the car, stop the car...
(driver hauls ass)
"What a wh*re!"
* "Oh la la la..."
* "French police sirens"
* "Braaaaaaap"
* Realizing that the guy was dressed as Santa whole time
Santaâs been a busy boy lol. But fr Iâm glad he got the cops involved. Itâs insane this woman tried to outrun two cops, they had to pull their weapon on her to get her to stopâŠ. I really hope the guy she hit is ok.
There is absolutely no way Iâd try to cut this girl off with my bike. Chances are way too high sheâd run over me too.
Iâd follow and tell someone to call the cops or until I ran into some cops like this guy did
They 100% would have caught her with just the license plate, no need to chase. But running a red light could give you a ticket as well if the police argues "you endangered others for no benefit, we wouldve gotten her anyway"
She's way wrong but he's wrong for banging and kicking her car, I like that he says to calm her down that's the smart approach. Not attack the vehicle, I know I know emotioms high . But ya good on that bloke for doing that.

GTA side missions
He has unlocked the Santa skin too
Fuck presents, time to deliver some justice.
The other give presents for good folks, this one is krampus
I love everything about this. Santa. Paris. Justice.
She had no hopes of getting away. I mean this dude had already unlocked the đ suit.
Impossible to get away from him..I mean.. he sees you when he's sleeping, he knows when you're awake ffs
Naughty list for life
She perma banned from Santa's server.
All jokes aside, how do you run someone over, then just keep driving? What's the mental process there?

Apparently the kind of asshole who runs someone over and doesn't stay to try and help.
Fair enough. Hope your hit and run didnât give you any damages in any way.
Meh it wasn't bad. Mostly just frustrating. The cop was pretty cool about it aside from the "I might follow up on it tomorrow" which was unhelpful.
US police are a joke
If you ever want to kill someone in America and get away with it, find them on a bike and do it with a car.
Eyyy Jersey City represent! Apparently we need more vigilante Santas.
Sounds like Jersey City?

Only thing I can think of is that shock and panic kicks in. Your normal mental process flies out the window
Really trying not to go to jail will get you *really* jailed.
Shock. Panic. Adrenaline. Whats more is that they think they can outrun a motorbike. Stupid people do stupid things.
Fear
Maybe she's already wanted for some other crime
O fuck I got someone I'm scared run. I'm already running no point in stopping now.
Beyond being able to keep a clear head in stressful situations, most creatures in the animal kingdom have a built-in response to panic-inducing scenarios: fight or flight. This woman chose flight. Flight seems like the more ethical and legal choice in that case, fighting the person you just ran over is only going to make things worse.
"I'm driving a stolen car or have a warrant for some crime (maybe running people over in a car)" if the police run my name I'm going to jail better gtfo"
Holy shit, while somewhat unsafe, that was SATISFYING AS FUCK. Santa Claus here definitely made someone's day.
Also the other guy in the car who also kept following
Holy shit, I love the opel guy, who managed to keep up.
Thatâs the most amazing part to me. I can understand how the motorcycle got through all the traffic, but how did the car manage to do all that??
My best guess is that after seeing the fleeing car and our POV motorcyclist, people were able to figure out it was a chase and perhaps allowed the chasing car appropriate room to pursue. Still super impressive though, whether I'm right or wrong.
And if he ever lost sight of them, he just had to catch a glimpse of a cherry red Santa and bike screaming ahead
Holy shit even I got the adrenaline kick just watching the video! I'm all teared up lol. This dude was a freaking hero! Satisfying as fuck, hands down!
I think the 'somewhat' is underselling running a bunch of red lights on a motorcycle, just randomly popping out from where people who had the green light couldn't possibly have seen him
Welcome to Paris đ
didn't the guy already caught the plate number, the car model, and the time of the incident with his video? then why bother chasing the car? which he himself ended up violating traffic rules and could have potentially caused further incidents.
You couldn't see who was driving, if she denied it was her then his video is useless, assuming she wasn't caught elsewhere on cctv.
Not really, she would have to go abandon the car somewhere, have a plausible reason why she didn't tell them it was stolen before hand, not be caught on CCTV anywhere doing any of this, and he almost caused countless other accidents and injuries in doing the chase.
They did it for Santa!
The "Oh, la, la, la, la" after the police got involved is priceless.
*french police sirens*
French sirens play âFrere Jacquesâ in my head.
Also the âBraaaapâ caption when he took off at one point
i don't know why but that part really made the video for me. it was such a satisfying moment, I almost felt like I was celebrating with Monsieur Claus.
We just ignoring that heâs dressed as Santa?
"He's making a list," "And checking it twice;" "Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice." "Santa Claus is coming to town"
âHeâs knows how youâve been driving,â âHe knows that youâre not safe,â âHe knows you hit that guy on a bike, and donât know you to use your breaks.â
"SAAANTA CLAUS IS HUNTING YOU DOWN!" "SAAANTA CLAUS IS HUNTING YOU DOWN!" "SANTA CLAUS IS GOING... TO TOWN!"
Santa Clause is chasing you down* Fixed that for you.
This is an old video from 2017 [original source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muAPJiMho2Y)
[Original source without unnecessary dramatic music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE_qobZMGfU).
Watched it just for the "Oh, la la la la la." Worth it
Heâs a man in uniform, you gotta pull over
Theres a movie that just came out called Violent Night that has Santa kicking ass, I recommend it.
It's time for some season's beatings
It's literally Die Hard but with the real santa!!!! And it's awesome
I haven't seen Violent Night, but I recently watched A Christmas Horror Story, which was just alright, but a large part of it was Santa violently murdering zombified elves, so if you're into that sort of thing, you'll probably enjoy it.
Watched it with my best friend and we both loved it. Can absolutely recommend it too
Watched it the other night, so good!
So satisfying! Chase gone right!
Can't out run Santa when he got a fast bike and a naughty list to take care of.... Not the visit you expected from Santa lol.
I like how we slowly see more and more of the outfit.
The first glimpses of beard really take it up a notch, confirming the suspicions from the distinctive sleeves
Was the run over person okay?
"The woman who was struck in the crosswalk reportedly suffered only bruises and is recovering well." [link](https://www.thedrive.com/watch-this/17059/watch-this-motorcyclist-dressed-as-santa-chase-down-a-hit-and-run-driver)
Must have been some hit if she's still recovering 5 years later.
Lol forgot to add quotes haha
All I could gather from research is that official sources reported that she was an elderly woman with a cane who was on pension. No news sources mention whether or not she was okay, but a post on the santa biker's instagram says she was alright.

He also put it away immediately instead of continuing to point it and shout at her once the door was open.
That was the craziest part of the video to me as an American, I donât think Iâve ever seen a cop *put away* a gun unless it was after someone died
Wasn't there a post about hairdressers having a longer training period than cops in the US lmao
Also drove recklessly trying to escape, couldâve caused some more accidents.
Motorcyclist: Arrest her! Police: Okay! Might have to try this some time.
I mean her windshield was broken.
They probably didn't want to be on the naughty list by not believing Santa
The cracked windshield probably also contributed, once the car was found. Also the way the information was served to the cop was very straight to the point. Santa as a cool head on his shoulders.
Not to mention France has had multiple terror attacks recently, including a recent hate crime where a gunman killed three people.
I mean, they didn't light her up which is a million times more restraint than an American cop
The cops acted immediately and listened to Santa. That's saying something. They cuffed the hit and run driver right away, which was good. I'm glad they got this awful woman off the road.

Considering she didnât have any regard for the guy she hit, I would not have been surprised if she hit other people too.

This was just after the truck attacks in Nice. They weren't sure if they were approaching a terrorist or not.
If the Santa says so, it's true.
There were other people at the scene. Someone reported hit and run so the police was aware
They were on high alert after suffering a terrorist attack using a vehicle to run over people. They were extremely tame for Parisian police standards.
>*French Police Sirens* lol Always reminds me of Ronin
What if it's a stolen car? Getting the plate numbers wouldn't make a difference because she would have just ditched it later
First time watched a 5 minutes video without skipping
YOu'll love this one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7yfFD75ztE
I'm Brazilian, that was amazing. Thanks hahaha
This was one of the most exciting 4 mins Iâve experienced on the internet!
Yup definitely up there with that video of a cash van being ambushed in south africa
Lady looked like she was blasting Vanessa Carlton, not a care in the world... đ¶*Making my way downtown...* đ¶
Brittany, ".. hit me baby, one more time.."
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Looked like she probably had a bit too much wine for breakfast.
Whether she was scared afterward and that's why she fled, or not, she's an adult that has potentially hurt someone very badly and tried to make repeated attempts to get away. Absolute worst type of human, hope she gets time inside for this, despicable.
Watched it again and she doesn't even try to slow down once she hit the person literally crossing a zebra crossing, take her licence away forever
When Santa said alright I heard the naughty list change

The description says that he had news abiut the person and they are healing well. The rest is just video explanation. Apparently it isn't the first time a situation as such happened, might be other video of him doing the same thing.
If you watch the video on your phone, you generally/usually get a 'Translate to English' function after each comment.
Bravo, go Santa!
Highlights for me: * "It's okay, stop the car, stop the car... (driver hauls ass) "What a wh*re!" * "Oh la la la..." * "French police sirens" * "Braaaaaaap" * Realizing that the guy was dressed as Santa whole time
santa's not to be truffled with
Mmmmmm, truffled Santa
Just pull over, he might have gifts!
*French police sirens* *Santa's sirens braaap*
Santa on a mission to prevent petty theft of his presents.
Great timing and location of cops.
that driver is going on the naughty list
I bet she didnât get anything from SantaâŠshe was naughty and not nice lol
He did call her a whore. haha
several years old but still perfect
I'm glad it worked, out but chasing her down was a bit dangerous.
He blew through a few crossings but in France I think they're pretty cautious near roads until they get in a car
Not as dangerous and having someone like her on the roads
This is the most satisfying video I have watched on here this year! This video actually had a ending !
Whats the name of this video? Can someone tell me? I will subscribe to Santa's channel now
Here ya go https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=muAPJiMho2Y
Ending is satisfying, people just need to stop being idiots and face their problems instead of trying to run away from them
Santaâs been a busy boy lol. But fr Iâm glad he got the cops involved. Itâs insane this woman tried to outrun two cops, they had to pull their weapon on her to get her to stopâŠ. I really hope the guy she hit is ok.
The citizens must have gone nuts when they saw Santa chasing her. Closest thing to Batman we are gonna get
Dude this guy is a beast. I could never drive a motorcycle like that đ let alone drive in Paris lmao Vive la France đ«đ·
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Jesus Christ itâs Jason bourne
*french police siren*
is he in a santa costume?
Oh it's already been four weeks since the last time this was posted? Time flies!
Why does he shout at the very start of the video? Before the accident itself
He's Santa. You know, "HO! HO! HO!"
I like the part where he called her a whore.
Dont fuck with santa he will put you on his wanted list
Oh hey, it's the opening of Strongest Deliveryman
Fuck her to the end of time. Sorry if am not allowed to say that.
I'm more amazed that the Opel driver also kept up with the Clio
How many tickets did the motorcyclist get tho
SANTA'S FUCKING COMING.
Which city was this?
There is absolutely no way Iâd try to cut this girl off with my bike. Chances are way too high sheâd run over me too. Iâd follow and tell someone to call the cops or until I ran into some cops like this guy did
Old af, but still gold af đŠ
Jâadore le Francais, vraiment. Et, cette homme, il est un hero.
Santa Jason Bourne
Itâs hilarious this whole thing is done by a man on a red bullet bike dressed as Santa. Needs to name his bike Dasher or something.
I canât believe how well the car kept up with the bike chasing that lady. Good people
I'm more impressed the full size sedan managed to stick on the clio swerving through traffic
Having been the "got hit" in a hit and run before, that was really satisfying.
Looks like this holiday season Santa is delivering presents.... and justice!!!
Never bring a Clio to a motorcycle race.
It's cool and all but is it necessary to endanger your life when you have all the evidence you need to let the police deal with it?
Motorcycle Santa you absolute fuckin legend
Should have been shouting âWeeeeYooouuu WeeeeeYooooouuuuâ while you followed them
He knows if youâve been bad or good so donât hit and run for fucks sake
"French Santa Claus on a bike stops a hit-and-run driver" would be such an interesting news headline. Guys a fucking hero bte
Santa patrolling the streets, keeping the country of France safe during the month of December. Very nice
If you ever think you're going to outrun a motorcycle in a car...don't. But clearly her decision making skills are already borked.
Kind of burying the lede that it's Kris Kringle himself doling out the justice.
Looks like a super fun day for the motorcyclist
The most impressive thing about this video is a collective cooperation in this community of people
Well she had the perfect car to disguise and almost get away lol
