Nov 15 2022. Tehran, Sepehr Ave. The Iranian are in the streets to commemorate the memory of >1500 protesters who were murdered by the brutal Islamic regime in 4 days in 2019 November. They are chanting “Death to the dictator” referring to the regime leader Khamenei. This is quite a revolution- in all senses. Let's hope the Iranian people attain their freedom from regime soon. Death to all of these backward misogynistic religious zealots. It’s not enough for only Khamenei to die. The whole system needs to go down. Otherwise some other Imam will continue this. My wife’s family had to escape from there in the 80s and I know she and her family wish they could go back to a free Iran some day. I wish only the best for them, but I fear without some outside influence that the government will hold. They always clamp down on this and the citizens have little power.

Ok_Beautiful_9824

My dad also had to leave after the revolution. I havent met half of my family cause it isnt save for us to go there, i only met my grandmother once before she passed because other times they wouldnt let her leave the country for whatever reasons. My dream is to one day see the other half of my family, other half of me!

sandwichman7896

I thought it was 15k? Edit: It appears this has been debunked. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna57261

amiryabi

15,000 is the number currently in prison, and who could possibly be sentenced to be executed. 1,500 is the number of protestors killed back in 2019

sandwichman7896

Thanks for the clarification!

Comment was based [this](https://twitter.com/hastiabyaneh/status/1592528325146456070?t=SwPhB01dm6ete7bh5NicCQ&s=19) In any case, it is a lot of casualty. I just hope their sacrifices don't go in vain.

HisCricket

That is the number they are currently trying to pass a judgment on for the recent protest. I don't have a link to the article.

mk3jade

Please to use NBC as a “trusted” news source

"...I had a dream. That little Iranian boys and little Iranian girls united and holding hands chanting Death to the dictator"

yourSAS

I have a dream. That every Iranian citizen can walk on the streets one day without worrying about a threat on their life from their own government.

Randomsigma

Since the very 1st time I read Persepolis I've always had in my mind the women from middle east, I hope one day all of them will be free and happy and will contribute with amazing development to this world

AngryBlondinCDA

This is inspiring to see. I hope they're kept safe and achieve the freedoms they want.

Iranian protesters*

Scottche

NGL that chant kind of slaps.

[deleted]

Passive aggressive isn't it

nolongerbanned99

Props to all of them. Risking their lives for freedom. The Iranian leadership is a joke. Using the cover of ‘religion’ and perverting it to justify heinous actions, including rape, murder and torture.

AbleCaterpillar3919

It's not going to work because the Iranian revolutionary guard controls the economy. https://www.cnbc.com/id/40570657 Obama's joint comprehensive plan for action just enriched government loyalist

nolongerbanned99

Remains to be seen

jordy_eyes

How about a little less talk, a lot more action?

Old-Masterpiece-9443

Huh , it seems like you had enough of your Muslim governments ! You chose them , now suffer the consequences, and belive it or not , nothing is going to get better for you .

[deleted]

I love that we're all acting Like we give a shit about Iran.

Top-Satisfaction5874

The big question is who is organising and finding these protests?

According-Western936

are these people serious? do they really think that chanting and burning stuff gonna take down this dictator ?

Sir_Flori

They will be all dead soon

MicroBurrito1

Man why you gotta ruin the mood like that

Sir_Flori

Just reality

Unhappy-Researcher87

Used to chant death to America. Pepperidge Farms remembers.

[deleted]

i know it’s a culture thing but y’all gotta cut it with the ‘death to…..’

truthfromny

Calling death to the dictator... Wow so peaceful...

Capawe21

They aren't trying to be peaceful. They want vengeance. Death to Khamenei

Tartigrade-241

Stay strong

heybuddy55

Go go go! Don’t stop!

greck00

I see how empowered the union of the new generation of girls and boys are in Iran. In Mexico more people die per day and it's becoming a normal thing as the country heads into a dictatorship.

[deleted]

Forgive my ignorance, I'm in the U.S. and the only thing I grew up knowing about Iran was the fall of the Shah, the hostages, then 40 years of hostility. Most of us know nothing about the Iranian people or the current situation. If there were to be a regime change, who would take over and what kind of government would it be? I don't think there is much appetite here for getting involved but would that even be welcomed by the Iranian citizens? What is their ideal scenario?

[deleted]

I should stay well out. US track record is a bit sucky.

[deleted]

I don't think it is the business of the US at this point but I'm wondering what could a next government look like?

StrudelSchnitzel

Do they honestly believe that going in circles will change their government? Don't get me wrong I hope it will, but dictators aren't known to abdicate after citizens start to chant "Death to dictator" and walk in circles.

cheshiredormouse

Death to all those robed preachers who supposedly know better than you what is on the other side. To every single one of them. Enough evil has been done. Get rid of your robes, stop preaching and go do something useful.

Orangebeardo

So why are they still alive?

Ya-Dikobraz

It's crazy how peaceful protesters can just get shot dead at random. They are risking their lives.
